My best friend was in a car accident when we were in 10th grade that resulted in her becoming an incomplete quadriplegic. Her accident was just a couple months after getting her license. Seeing her get her first adapted car and all the freedoms it afforded her was such a beautiful experience. Keep that smile, girl. You're amazing 💜

I just watched your newest video and the comments are turned off but I just wanted to say that having those bad days, where you are emotional and upset about what's happened to you, is not only a good thing but absolutely necessary. The mourning process sucks but it's healthy and putting pressure on yourself to always be positive and happy and grateful, it's just can be really unhealthy because it means you are repressing your feelings and not addressing and coping with them. I know you are probably completely aware of this but I just wanted to also say that you are super early in your recovery, there is still chances that you will gain more motion and use of your arms and fingers, there's surgeries they can do as well. It is completely possible that by this time next year, you will be able to use your fingers and arms more and that you will need much less help💜 I know hearing people tell you how strong you are 24-7, can feel so exhausting because on those bad days you might just want to say "I'm not strong, I just dont have any other choice" so I won't say that but I will say it's going to get better, you are doing amazing for how recent your accident was

I became a paraplegic in a fire in 1978. I’ve had 2 vehicles since then. The first was a cargo van that was converted, but instead of a ramp, it had a lift. (I really liked the lift as I have a manual chair and the ramp can sometimes be a little steep for manual.) My second vehicle is a minivan. I’ve had it since 2006, and was thinking about trading it in on a newer van, but now that I’ve seen your Chevy, I want one! I am considerably older than you, (I could be your grandma), but I didn’t really want a minivan either. You have opened my eyes to new possibilities and I think I’m going to check into something like yours. If I stop trying to rebuild the Nation’s economy on my own, I might be able to save enough for a down payment. Lol. Take care of yourself. You have such a wonderful attitude, there is nothing that will be able stop you! 😊

I've got neurological symptoms for over a year now, but still doctors haven't found the exact reason. I'm going to some genetic tests next. My life has stopped since I can't really walk more than a couple hundred meter at the time, so it's difficult even to go to work at morning, my muscles are just always really tired.
But then I found your videos, don't even remember how. Even they say you cannot compare your situation to others, you are still giving me hope. Like, if you can stay so positive in THAT situation, why I couldn't deal with my own. After all you seem so happy, and that your life still has so much content despite it all. You will still travel, explore things and be happy. I wish you all the best, and I wish I could be as positive as you some day.
Even so, I wish so much that I could heal you.

Absolutely! It’s why she rocks. Makayla, if you see this I actually have to make a comment on your appearance. This was the best I’ve seen you look and here’s why: maybe you slept really well or something but your makeup looked great. I’ve been an advocate of less makeup for a long time, especially if you don’t need much. Sometimes it’s diminishing returns with it. Specifically, eye makeup in excess? Not a fan! But you went really minimalist with it for this video and I hope you’ll take a good look again. We could really see you and it’s a good thing! 👍🏻✌🏻

Glad you got a Chevrolet Mak! You will love it and it will last. I have a Silverado SS (with a sunroof too!) It has a hydraulic lift and the doors flip out naturally. I have an EZ lock system to lock my chair in place at drivers position. I also have a switch that pops the back door because it got harder for me to open the back door. Pretty much every issue that comes up as you gain or lose more mobility can be addressed. I have a hard time getting the seat belt and bringing it across as it’s behind me once I’m locked in and that’s my biggest problem. I’ve had a few different brands of seatbelts but they all have the stop action so it’s hard to fix the problem. Just something to get them to work on now before you need it. Make sure you can work the seatbelt ok from drivers position and locked in! The biggest downfall is that I can’t take my vehicle through a car wash with my conversion because it will rip the wiring right out to the lift. An SUV is great because you don’t have to worry about the hydraulic pump and circuit boards getting wet even though they are housed in a metal box in my truck bed. They had to go back and seal it a couple times because of it getting wet in there. The day will come when something isn’t working and it’s frustrating being stranded. I’m sure they have a service to come help but I used to travel a lot so was out of the area for help when I would have issues. It has happened to pretty much everyone at one time or another, you learn to get creative. Just wondering if you have a remote start on yours. It’s something you can mention to them if you don’t have it because being a quad you need to really watch yourself in the heat and getting in a hot car can be disastrous for you. With the remote start you have the opportunity to have the air conditioning or heat blowing for a few minutes to get your vehicle the right temp for you. Especially with two sun roofs your interior will heat up quickly. I also am intolerant of temps even though I’m a para I’m a T 5-6 right where our internal temps are controlled so I have those issues as well and I don’t sweat below my injury and I live in central FL. The remote start makes such a difference. There is a parking lot at one of my drs at Shands that is on the roof of parking garage and in the summer I get so overheated just getting to my vehicle that without that remote start I would be cooked for sure!
I know you will love it when you are driving your beautiful new car. Hope to hear what you name it! Mine is black so I named him Obsidian Super Shark. The shark is because Hunter Thompson used to call his fav red Cadillac convertible The Shark, so mine is The Super Shark, being an SS. I have a vanity plate with a Shark on it too! My conversion hasn’t been the happiest for me as it has a lot of problems but yours has so many less moving parts to go wrong with the ramp instead of lift. I wanted to get the ramp on my older truck but in a manual chair it’s just too steep esp since I’m usually loaded down when coming from the store. So the lift is what I have. When it’s all working it’s fantastic. The other issue is parking spaces because most handicap spaces where I live aren’t for van accessible they are the smaller sizes which doesn’t give me any room to get off the lift. So I have to park out of the way somewhere and park across 2 spaces to allow room for the lift and for my exit/entry. These are issues you will run into especially when all the spots are taken. I work at Walmart closing shift so when I get there after 3 pm all the handicap spots are taken. Customers throw a fit because they don’t pay attention to the under vehicle lift or the handicap placard. They complain to management or put carts or mart carts behind my vehicle to block me in to show their displeasure. So it’s a challenge. I had one customer key all the panels on the driver side so bad my body shop said I need to get a new bed on truck because they gouged it so deeply. And this was a few years ago before people got woke and ugly and ready to fight at the drop of a pin. There are those that just don’t understand and don’t care what damage they do. But then there are those who go above and beyond to help you out of a jam. This is getting way too long so I will conclude by saying Safe Travels young lady! I love your new ride.

Just stumbled across ur videos and wanted to offer some hope.
A friend of mine fell from a high location braking Thier back in multiple locations, docs told them they would never walk again. Today they are walking up trees! Literally, they climb trees like a frog! If you didn't know them you would never guess!
My grandfather had a stroke and became paralyzed, doctors told him he wouldn't walk.. he proved them wrong!
Doctors told me I wouldn't be walking past the age of 21. I'm 36 ( with multiple injuries to over ½ my back and nerve damage to all extremities) still walking.... with a cane and not very far.... but still walking! (That's a win in my book)
One day at a time, one small win at a time! Keep up your awesomeness and the good fight!
***You got this girl! It is possible! Shine brighter then the sun and show how amazing you are every day! And don't let anyone put limits on what you want to do! Hugs and may your dreams come true! My thoughts are with you! ***

So happy for you. My cousin is 26 and 2 years ago out of the blue 3 bones in his neck snapped and he fell to the ground in a lot of pain. Hes 6 feet tall. He cannot drive now. He wasnt a drinker or into drugs and would always help get his mom dressed as she had cerbal palsey. Now he has to live with her forever as she has a handicap shower. Working fill time is very hard as his back is in a lot of pain. He would love to have a car again for his independence. His mom isnt driving as her reflexes isnt quick enought if their was a accident about to happen. She only has one ear. His hands work. He was teaching animation to students in New Zealand. Now he has a caregiver along with his mother. Hes never had a girl friend. Like you he is upbeat and hapoy enought in his personality.

I just got done watching your latest video, the Q and A while putting on your makeup. I noticed you turned the comments off, so I came here to say this...
Love...you're ALIVE! Even if partially handicapped at the moment, you still have advantages some only dream of. You looked totally fine without makeup, so try not to stress so much over that LOL. Gorgeous is gorgeous, and the man who falls in love with you, will see you 90% without it anyways. Natural beauty is hard to come by, and you're truly blessed.
The road you are on, isn't permanent, as you know like I do, that god can work crazy things and make miracles happen even when we as humans can not ever find the path. I've seen it. You're a prime example of it, so embrace that as much as possible.
You ARE going to have your days as you mentioned. Some days you're going to be at your lowest of lows too, but it's in those moments, you begin to dig deep, and your future changes. You tune into yourself, you find issues and answers in those moments. The adjustments come with realizing what needs to happen, but know most of all, you can't rush perfection. You can't rush this type of healing. It takes time, and its SUPER hard not knowing in advance what the future holds.
What all this does mean, is you have to take it 1 day at a time, 1 step at a time ( figuratively and physically) and that's ok. It's a just a few steps back, rebuilding yourself, and continuing on.
My mother had have 5 strokes in 2 years, they don't know what's causing them, but she gets up and tries...every...single ..day. She always bounces back well, and she has her days too, and that's ok. But she would tell you this, as she tells me and others..." I ain't dead, ain't gonna be dead for a good long time, so just help me when I need it, encourage me often, and watch me whoop this one's butt!" I say this because I just buried my uncle 3 days ago, he passed away from 1 stroke that incapacitated him, basiclly totally. You said it yourself, some quadriplegics have some of the same issues you do, some don't. People heal differently. People have stronger will power than others, and some people have so much to live for, that they bounce back, and Dr's tell you it IS simply a God given miracle for getting back to as close to as normal as they have. Walking, doing your makeup, being free again, make those goals and strive to accomplish at least 1 baby step towards them each, daily.
I want all these positives for you. I want you to embrace your bad days more than your good, as this will help your will power grow immensely. Cry when you need to. Heck, cuss if you need to, but you get back to it just like you're doing now, and maybe...JUST maybe...you won't need that other wheelchair, or that suv at all, in due time.🤞
I speak this from the heart, from experiences, from my own falters, fumbles, and bad life experiences.
It does get better. You're beautiful, strong, and such an inspiration to others already. You...are a rolemodel. Know that.
Keep going. Keep pushing. Never quit. You're never out of the fight. (Navy Seals motto).
Check out Team Never Quit here on YT. Listen to the audio book Lone Survivor. Introduce yourself to Marcus Luttrell. His stories helped me and still do help me, with my custody battle, traumatic past, and a host of other things I deal with daily...and I've never served in the military. But his story, will blow your mind.
11 thru and thru gunshot wounds.
Broken back, nose, face, eyesockets, severely dehydrated, but worst of all, watched his team mates pass away 1 by 1.... in his underwear, on a mountain, in Afghanistan, running from the taliban, and he crawled for 7 days...paralyzed from the waist down. And today, he walks like any other person.
You have to keep pushing, never give up, fight hard, and you're gonna make it sweetheart. I'll be your cheerleader for sure. Anytime. I only surround myself with positive minded folks, so grow your circle too.
Keep smilin' love! 😁 You got this, don't rush it.
    God's got you.🙏

And also you are a teenager with a lot of hormones going on to deal with on top of everything you have been through. I think you are amazing and very mature for your age, a very special person. Praying for you. You got this. It's ok to be sad you have a right to be sad and mad. Praying for you and Jesus loves you more than you will ever know. We all love you and praying for you.

I was thinking about you cupholder situation and I thought maybe they could have some kind of trey fold out under the radio or ever slide out where the center console used to be or in that area. Again keep the positive attitude and keep on keep'n on. Peace Love and be humble my friend.
