  • Here’s a look at my mandolin arrangement for the Tears For Fears classic, “Mad World”. It really translates nicely to the eight stringer and has such a cool, haunting melody.

Ive looked through your tutorials a dozen times and for some reason it never clicked to me what song this was. This was a fun one to play around with. Great lesson Neal

Hey, that’s awesome - I went to high school in Ft Smith and did a year at the U in Fayetteville. I love the mountains around there! Did a lot of camping at Devil’s Den and fished all the streams around there. Just such a pretty area - WPS - Have a great night :)

@@COMANDOLINHow wild! I went to high school in Fort Smith as well. And the UA for a couple of years, too. Did you play in any area bands?

@@coyfagras9050 - Sweet! Southside or Northside? I was Southside myself. Class of ‘88. I did play in a band called “The Impediments”. Played at River City and JR’s. I was good friends with Russ and Dave from the Tares who made quite a name for themselves after I moved away.

@@COMANDOLINSouthside class of 98’! Did you know Jerry Jewell and Justin Cook? I went to a lot of Ravi’s era shows and snuck into Old Town a lot to watch George Hughen and some of the older FSM hippies. 😊 Miss those burgeoning indie days at JR’s, too. So many great bands came through there.

@@coyfagras9050 - I knew a Jimmy Jewel. Wonder if there’s a connection. I used to love coming up from Ft Smith for punk shows back in the day. I was really into the Faith Healers locally. I wasn’t around long though. Only did one year at the U and moved to Dallas in ‘89 and next thing you know, it’s 35 years later and I’m in Minneapolis doing mandolin videos :) Funny how things work out.
