    I think a big thing I've learned about sustaining a healthy lifestyle with the gym long term is that it doesn't have to suck. In fact, if it does suck, you're probably doing it wrong. I was just talking to my buddy and he was telling me how he skipped legs the other day. He skipped it because for sure he over does it, can barely walk out of the gym after and then is completely debilitated for the next three days. That's how I learned to do the gym in high school as a football player and it's taken till my 40's to realize that's the worst way to go about it. Now it's my goal to leave the gym feeling good, with gas left in the tank. I wish someone would have taught me that from the beginning because I don't think I would have ever stopped going.

    I hear all of this. However, I've been lifting weights for 10 months, following the MindPump advice - stopped running, focusing on building muscle, etc. I've done two cuts (the right way, by MindPump advice) in the past 6 months and I have lost ZERO pounds. I'm getting tempted to just do the crash diet and build back muscle after because more than the weight, I'm not seeing myself lean out at all :( My sleep is good, stress is low, protein is tracked and high, tracking food, not overtraining, etc. I'm definitely considering just doing a crazy cut and/or going back to running. It. Is. Hard.

      Don’t go back to running, I’ve been the cardio guy before because I was competing in boxing. Now all I do is weightlifting and zero cardio, my hormones is thanking me. Just be consistent in your calories and reach .7 per kilo of bodyweight of protein. If no changes in a month then reduce by 250, it’s a long process

      I mean, running isn't ideal because it beats up the joints and spikes cortisol. But have you tried just being more generally active on a daily basis?
      1) Walk more. It can be done every single day in high volume with no real impact on joints. This also includes parking further away and running any errands you can on foot as opposed to driving.
      2) Anytime you lift, pace/walk back and forth between sets. People tend to sit and scroll on their phone. But when you're resting the 2-3 min between sets, just pace for active recovery. This can rack up thousands of extra steps after a 60-75 min lifting session.
      3) After any lifting session, do max incline treadmill walking at a controlled pace of 2.5-2.8mph. It can even be as little as 15-20 min. But put it at 15%, don't hold on, and walk. It's great for recovery and adding extra steps.
      4) Stairs are another great hack. If you walk up/down them one at a time at a controlled pace for 30 min, it keeps the HR at 120-130bpm, which won't spike cortisol. But it keeps your hips healthy and raises your NEAT for the day. I do this every morning to loosen up out of bed and break a very light sweat. It's honestly better than coffee.
      The key is finding ways just to move more without beating up your joints or spiking your cortisol levels. Being more generally active will move the needle in tandem with lifting.

    I agree with you all about the short cut. I lost 50lbs plus back in 2019- 2022. I went from 245lbs, and to 185 to 195lbs. I did this by fasting 16hrs +, doing 45min on the stairs 6 days a week, and weight training. I was netting about 1400 to 1900 Cals. I didn't do all this at one. I started with the fasting, then added Cardio, and weight trained the whole time. I was working great, and it happen pretty fast. However this was not easy for me. Since that time, we moved out of CA, to OK. I slowly started to put weight on as I nolonger had stairs to do that kind of Cardio, and stopped fasting 16 + hrs. It was hard to get back into that routine. I found Mind Pump in 2023, and then understood what happed to me. I'm now following proper way of recomping. Taking this approach while slower, is not harder than doing what I use to do. When I hear you guys say it's the easy way, I thought to myself that's not easy. It's way harder, but definitely a short cut. I'm currently at 230lbs now, however, I'm only went up 1 pants size, and one shirt size from being 195lbs. So recomp is definitely happening. I have ran Anabolic, and now am running Aesthetic. I have enjoyed both programs. Thanks for all the advice that you guys give out. You all have blessed me, and make me laugh. I'm originally from San Jose CA. I turn 41 this year so it's crazy for me that I had to move out of state before getting to know you guys. I use to live off of Story, and White Rd on the east side. I want to James Lick. Thanks again my brothers!!!

    Another great podcast. Finishing up Anabolic and getting myself shredded for summer thanks to you guys. I quit hours of Pilates, yoga and Barre classes to lifting heavy, eating more and working out less. Really appreciate everything you post 🙏🏼

    • @gabriellerose4253
      @gabriellerose4253 29 дней назад +1

      Hi! Your comment caught my eye because I'm just starting Anabolic (just finished Pre-Phase) and while I'm not new to lifting, I too have a love for Pilates, Barre and Yoga where I do each of these classes weekly, and it's hard to know if I need to cut back. I am following Anabolic, along with these Barre and Yoga typically twice each weekly and down to 1 Pilates class weekly if I can even make it. I am prioritizing Anabolic and I try to do the other workouts on separate days, maybe instead of a trigger session. Can you share any feedback on your experience with balancing or having to cut back on the classes? I'd appreciate it😊

    • @fabulouslyfit54
      @fabulouslyfit54 29 дней назад

      @@gabriellerose4253 absolutely! Weight lifting is my priority. I do Pilates only once a week as a trigger session but mostly to focus on abs. Because, as you know, Pilates is a fantastic ab workout. I’m a yoga instructor and teach only one class a week and I do it with my students. It’s a vinyasa class, but I take it slow and easy and for me, yoga is restorative, so I use this day for relaxing and stretching and twisting and breathing. And that leaves me with one full day off where I just stretch, maybe go for a walk, or do nothing. I just got a second DEXA and I’ve gained 9lbs of muscle 🙏🏼 Hope this helps.

    Today marks 14 years since I started my fitness journey. What began as a simple outing with my cousin quickly turned into a lifelong passion the moment I set foot in the gym. Over the years, my mindset has shifted-now, I do it to stay healthy and strong as I age. Lifting weights has also been a huge help during perimenopause. I really enjoy the show and appreciate how it reinforces the importance of making fitness a lifestyle, not just looking for shortcuts. Keep up the great work!

    It wasn't until I started listening to you guys that I realized over the years I have done so much WRONG. Now, I'm just focusing on fueling properly, building muscle, and getting stronger without overtraining, and I haven't weighed myself in over a month. It has been a huge mindset shift but I think it may be working! Repeat DEXA scan in 3 weeks... I'll be fascinated to see how doing things the right way has changed my body. 🙌 Also, a question: Does anyone know if MAPS 15 can be done without barbell/squat rack? I workout in my garage with dumbbells (I do have a bench). Thanks for everything!!

    Ok, after watching dozens of reels from Roy Belzer I have to tell the guys they missed out on the real story with this guy. He is helping big people feel comfortable DURING their fitness journey no matter where they’re starting out at. This actually correlates to what this episode is about- not taking shortcuts, because if you follow Roy during your journey, that everyone wants to take shortcuts on n you’re advising against that, you might/hopefully gain the confidence at any size that you need in order to sustain the long term behaviors that are required in order to get truly healthy n fit. I don’t think he’s promoting the toxic side of body positivity that says “you can be totally happy n healthy at any size!” so don’t bother trying to get truly healthy. He’s helping people love themselves while they’re overweight n unhealthy so they stay on course for getting healthy the right way

    • @Citrine-lt8pp
      @Citrine-lt8pp 29 дней назад

      I agree with you! I looked through and had similar thoughts. And, someone who is or has been larger understands how it feels to be a larger size and knows what positions work or not or where to start comfortably. I think it can be difficult for larger people to really believe that someone fully fit understands their situation and mindset. It can be very difficult for someone larger to begin their fitness journey, especially out in the open in a gym. It could be easy to write Roy off as being “woke”, but I think there is more to it.

    I am a plus sized gal slowly getting stronger and healthier partially due to you all. I love the body positivity movement but as with everything it has it's messed up toxic side. I hate when people say 'stop glorifying obesity' but I am enraged MORE when a plus size person makes an effort to become healthier and usually loses weight and their community calls them a traitor!! That's bonkers.

    I vehemently disagree with "there is one right way." I especially disagree with the whole "you're a better person for having taken the long way" idea. Take that martial artist and ask him if he would have rather had that knowledge beamed into his head from the start; if he's being honest he'll probably say yeah. All that knowledge and skill without any of the injuries? Take a couple of years to focus strength and sport specific training, and he's his best self more than half a decade ahead of time. That guy you give $10M? He shells out a tiny portion of it to a financial planner and problem solved--no 40 years required. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with putting a decade into a skill or a lifetime into acquiring business knowledge, but the reason they spent that long is because there wasn't a way for them to get the same result in half the time. Time is the one thing you don't get back, so identifying how best to use "shortcuts" is better than pretending they don't exist and if they do they are the road to failure--especially when the real failure always comes down to a lack of planning.

    It's natural for people to look for shortcuts but the fitness industry doesn't help. Out of one side of the mouth it is "there are no shortcuts" and out of the other side it is "here's how you maximize your gains/fatloss!" Shortcuts are a tool, and like any tool they have proper conditions for use. Like any tool, they aren't always appropriate. Regaining the weight or losing the gains aren't the result of using the shortcut, they are the result of failing to plan your moves after the shortcut (assuming natural). They are the result of failing to monitor yourself afterward and adapt to what is happening. Regaining 50lbs happens 1 pound at a time with plenty of points where you can observe and intervene.

    I don’t need a shortcut, nothing works for me. I’ve been at it for almost 9 months and only lost .2 lbs a week. I’m looking at doing a 90 day fast water only. Time to starve the body. Diet and exercise aren’t working for me. 30 lbs overweight and I CANNOT lose with diet and excercise. Time to starve my body of all calories. Maybe then my body will start to burn some fat.

    I have to agree. I wouldn’t be able to thrive with a fat trainer. As a thin female it is very difficult for me to trust in the process. If I’m going to trust a trainer who is telling me to increase calories and lift heavy they need to look the part. They don’t have to be super ripped but they need to have a healthy BMI. I have a hard time even wanting to build muscle because I don’t want any part of me to get bigger. Lean mass or not -most women are terrified of even getting a few inches bigger. If I have an overweight trainer telling me to eat more …. I’m probably going to start eating less. I also don’t believe in plus size models. “Models” are paid large amounts of money to look good. Not every body should be in that profession, I feel the same way about doctors and nurses. I’m a nurse and I feel it’s my professional responsibility to be model what I teach and that means leading a healthy lifestyle and maintaining a healthy weight. Don’t get me started on Police….. maintaining physical fitness seems like it would be essential for them to do their jobs well yet so many can’t be bothered. Normalizing obesity is going to be detrimental to society at large. We need to get after the government to ban foods with no nutritional value and those foods that are designed to be addictive. It should be criminal to manufacture highly processed foods but until that happens we need to start with ourselves. Stop buying all that garbage and decrease demand, keep yourself healthy and you can do whatever you want. Not every body size is appropriate or reasonable for every profession. If you want to be a trainer - you need to train yourself first.

For God sent not his son into the world, to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved. . He that believeth on him is not condemned, But he that believeth not is condemned already. Because he hath not believed In the name of the only begotten son of God.

    54:10 carbon dating is only accurate up to about 5500 years, even radio testing isn't much better. They are basically guessing with everything which is why they have such enormous gaps. In science, if the larger the margin of error, the more you need to change what you're doing and with the way carbon-14 absorbs, you're always going to get different numbers at different spots in the material and they even guesstimate the existence of carbon to be within billions of years of error because they have no idea. You don't need the Creator to tell you carbon dating isn't helpful. If you came from a fish that eventually became a monkey that we still haven't seen grow a forehead, why does the Bible say I came out of the soil and all of the minerals and some of the bacterial found in soil is found within my body. Same with you. You didn't come from some fish that magically could breathe and even walk around to get off the sand to feed itself so it had enough energy to reproduce with itself and somehow become a monkey. There's no way anybody can believe this mess. It's illogical
