Hi Penny I use a LOT of Avene, but also stick to the fragrance free items. I have ultra sensitive, rosacea and eczema prone super dry/mature/menopausal skin for reference. I use the: Physiolift eye - cheaper than the retrinal and exactly the same product Tolerance extreme cream - the cream version of the emulsion used, but it's not rich enough for cooler weather or night time for me. Antirougours cleansing milk - so gentle and effective I can use it as a single step cleanser and it does take off eye makeup for me when used with a microfibre cloth Xeracalm cleansing oil for face and body - I use to remove makeup and spf from face, neck and chest in a single step cleanse. I don't use it on the eyes as it can make them a bit cloudy for a short time and I have rosacea issues at my eyes. They have just reformulated this product and I haven't used the new version in the clear bottle yet, but going by reviews it still works. The older version is in an opaque white bottle and is the one I use most nights. The water mist is soothing and I spritz between layers of skincare for extra hydration. The Avene Xeracalm AD Lipid replenishing balm is the cream I use as an overnight face moisturiser - 200mls of occlusive thick cream my really dry skin loves and due to the size I can slather it on without worrying about the price. the Avene mineral spf50 - works well for my hypersensitive skin and as I'm super pale no issues for me with white cast. They do a tinted version, but it is very dark and will only really suit a darker medium to tan skin tone and beyond. The cicalfate cream and the lipbalm are both firm favourites. The cicalfate cream/balm is a a richer alternative to the LRP cicaplast and works better for my very dry skin. The antirougours mask is soothing and hydrating - I use when I'm feeling very dehydrated. I apply a decent layer and let it soak in. I can use the Xeracalm line on the body, but I get prescription topicals from my Doctor including a shower cream and an occlusive body cream and use those instead for the body. The antirougours moisturisers mostly have a chemical spf and my skin hates it. The baby chemical spf I use on the body, but my face also hates that one. The Antirougours forte didn't really work to take down redness and wasn't moisturising enough on it's own for me, so it wasn't a repurchase. I use the geek and gorgeous retinaldehyde face product, as it's more affordable and works just as well as the Avene versions. I have used other products from the Avene line but these are either the products I always have on hand for rescue remedies, or real staples in my routine. I hope that helps with a few other products not mentioned in the video. Best wishes.
Hi... Thanks so much you helped me with a few things(i wondered about the "emulsion version", i was afraid thought it wasnt thick/protectve enough:you confirm it, thks... Tjem you confirm for the 200ml bottle i wanted to try on my face, you say it wofks for you.. thank you❤️, and you confirm for.. Idk what lol but MANY things.... Thks 😅Love💓💓💓💓💕😘💋
I'm so pumped to see an aesthetician who knows and uses Avene! A different master aesthetician told me about it and it's been a game changer the past 3years. That said, it's so helpful to hear explanations of their products because the line is large and similar to how I feel about The Ordinary - really need some guidance on what's what. Merci, madamoiselle!
Avene is a class act. They’re trying to increase their customer base with the fragrance (besides us sensitive skin folks.) Same with LRP and Bioderma. They all know better, but they want to sell to all the normal skin people. 😆 My oily skin especially loves their simple, but oh-so-effective, moisturizers. I’ve used the Retrinal Eyes on my lips, and it seems to be the answer to get a retinoid there! I have extremely dry, sensitive lips and this hasn’t bothered mine a bit - a miracle! Their products are pricey, but there’s just something to that centuries-old mineral water that really does work. Next I want to try XeraCalm cream (not balm) on my face since it’s a huge bottle for $48. Still expensive, but not so bad when you price it out per ounce. ($3) I’ve also wanted to try the XeraCalm cleansing bar to save on waste, as well as cost. But I have too many cleansers to use up before I can allow myself! So glad you did this review on an underrated brand, IMO. Would love for you to do the others of the big 3 as well - LRP and Bioderma. They are my go-to’s for cleansing and moisturizing. For some reason, simple products from the drugstore irritate my skin, but not these (fragrance free, of course.). I suspect it’s one of the cheap preservatives drugstore brands use. Thanks, Penny! I sure do value your time and expert opinion. Have a blessed day. ❤️ Shauna.
I always love when you wear yellow! One of my favorite colors.... You look especially beautiful in it, ESPECIALLY with your darker hair! Thank you for all the recommendations. This line has always overwhelmed me a bit but you simplified it for sure🥰
Honestly these brands know better than to be using all of this fragrance. Especially now days during the pandemic when skincare took a huge surge in popularity and consumers are so much smarter now. I don’t understand new launches with all the fragrance. Vichy, La Roche Posay, and Avene especially know better! All three of these lines are based on soothing/reparative thermal spring water and the fragrance defeats the purpose entirely. I absolutely can’t stand fragrance in leave on products. And it’s such a shame because most of these products would be iconic without it! I recently tried Ole Henriksen Strength Trainer cream and it has an extremely impressive ingredients list (peptides, amino acids, cholesterol, ceramides, niacinamide, mango butter, fatty acids, panthenol, vitamin E, sodium PCA) but it has fragrance. Ughhhh. It literally smells like fruity pebbles 🙄 I will day it DOES dissipate and doesn’t linger for super long and it’s the last ingredient. So that is somewhat of a plus for a fragranced product.
The thermal spring water is great after micro needling! I recently started using the Avene moisturizing body melt in balm and love it. Very much water based but is moisturizing, easy to apply. Has a light scent. Unlike many others it’s $30 and not $80+ for a large jar. I have always applied body lotion / oil / balm after showering and my skin has been baby smooth for decades. (In the winter I add a body oil to lotion / cream for extra moisture) 🙂
I have such oily skin, I can't imagine not washing my face in the morning, in the evening or after working in the yard! I also stopped using moisturizer, just too much for me. When I broke my arm a year ago and had to have surgery to put me back together again, I used Mederma scar cream. I'm really surprised at how much it's faded it! I'm not some spring chicken that heals super quickly! Hahaa BTW, I love your dark hair! It's really flattering on you! 💜
First off, I’m so sorry you had to be put back together 😞😞😞 I think washing in the AM is so personal-I’m like you- I like to wash in the morning (often bc I’m doing treatments but even when I’m not)…I feel like it wakes me up, cleans the slate and I start fresh. If I don’t I feel like my face isn’t quite right 🤔 I sure hope you are feeling all the way better now ❤️❤️
@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE thank you, Penny. I wish I was feeling all the way better. I broke my arm just under the shoulder joint, pushing everything out of wack. Then I'm allergic to medical tape, which they used to tape my eyes shut. Hives, rash, swelling, on my face. Cute. Uh, no. For me, 2020 was nothing compared to 2021. I still don't sit to put my jeans on...I'll never learn! Ha Your description is absolutely perfect! It cleans everything off from the night before and you're starting anew. Your canvas is fresh, shall we say...lol 💜
Great product line its great on my roseseca skin .the other day I was in the chemist and I seen they had the tolerance face clenser cream for 5 dollars a tube on sale lol I bought four tubes 😁 its great it usually 35 to forty dollars not on sale .the avene oxitive vitamin c serum is excellent for sensative skin too .
Love Avene! The Xeracalm AD Balm is my holy grail nighttime moisturizer. I came across it after a skin injury and it was an absolute lifesaver. I still use it as a last step to lock everything in bc frankly I’ve never come across anything that does that better! So happy they’re having a sale really want to try the eye cream!! 😍
At last something so easy to get in UK 🇬🇧 and much cheaper in uk 🇬🇧 than in USA 🇺🇸 … I always travel with the spring water spray and always have in my beach 🏖 bag ! Love this spray xxx
Hello Penny, i can’t tell you how much I love your content, I can’t be without your videos. I learned so much! Especially the “how to” videos, love love them! About Physiolift it’s the French version of retrinal, we don’t have the latter here in France but it’s the same ingredients. I think it’s cheaper here. Anti-rougeurs means anti-redness 😉 What do you think about LRP? Take care Penn 💙
I have been curious about this brand. I’d love a video on the different lines and what they are meant to do. I found them at Ulta and Walgreens and I was confused on what line was right for me and my skin concerns, so I walked away buying nothing.
Thank you so much for this Penny!!! Just placed a nice sized order. I absolutely love their intense hydration serum, the white one. I have very dry and dehydrated fussy skin and it really really helps! I use it every morning after a vitamin C serum and before a thick moisturizer.
Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful knowledge with us. You are a complete joy to watch! I’ve have been searching for the right modality for skin tightening and was wondering if you had a preference? Something potentially for face, neck and some body areas? Thank you~

I SO appreciate your reviews! Very helpful! I’ve never used Avene, but if I ever do, I have good intel to go from. Have you ever reviewed Phytomer (another French company)? We sold that line exclusively in a spa where I used to work. I would LOVE to know your take on their products. High end, and quite pricey. Are they worth the coin they demand? Looking forward to more reviews. Have a great week!
Hi everyone!🤗 I just want to say that You are my holy grai,l I am very lucky to have as my beauty secret! Even today I was using Elemis Thousand Flower, its amazing I know my 3 girlfriend have it, my cabinet is filled with gods with Your advice!🤤 And any skincare I shopped,in review I find people mentioned Your name so many times 😃🤩 Don't worry about losing any subscribers we all will come back to You! Hi Penn. I am 54 and I am looking for retinalheyd avene products. I don't find retrinAl but only physiolift. Is that the same ? If so which one to buy for night ? I am used to retinol, I use The ordinary over a year now. You believe is better to stay at The Ordinary retinol 1% or go for Avene ? Thank you ❤
At least one derm I follow likes the Eau Thermal Spring Water for her morning routine in lieu of washing her face. At least two derms I've seen have recommended the Tolerance Emulsion of sensitive skin.
Hi penny Love your video's, I've just purchased cerave cleanser and a cerave moisturizer for using whilst derma rolling are they good products to use for treatments, I keep reading that you have to be careful what you use as some products they can be to harsh for the skin. X
Thank you for another great video - you got me hooked on the eye cream a while back thank goodness :) I've already changed to your unhacked Instagram account.
Oh I’m so glad you’re out of the other account. I cannot wait for Instagram to shut it down (as crazy as that is 😐). Love their eye cream! I’m so glad you do too! ❤️❤️
I have looked through your videos but can’t see anything about Curology. Do you like Curology as a good source for tretinoin? Thank you! Love your videos and skincare tips!
🥰🥰 Thank you for being here Kate ❤️❤️ PS I’ve been loving your content lately so so much. I could just listen to you all day 😍 I hope anyone who sees this clicks your name and checks out your amazing channel! 😍😍😍
Their spring water is a classic and their Retinal is amazing, I also have their EU sunscreen is amazing, super high UVA. I tried their mineral SpF no bueno 👎🏼
The tinted mineral is just SO dark! I was going to share that one and somehow left it out dang it. I mix it with the untinted to lighten it up-but that’s not realistic for everyone 😐
Can I use Retrinal for eyes everyday?? I'm currently using it every two days but I have no irritation and I was wondering if I can use it everyday for better results. Thanks!
Can you do a video on Eighth Day Serum? It’s supposedly high potency ingredients. I am curious about where dermatologists source these ingredients as well…
Hey Penny, first i have to say you did a very Good job with the french pronunciation👌🏻. Huge fan of the oxitive line I just bought the dermabsolu day cream. What Do you think about it? Merci 😊
what is the right retinol for dry mature skin with hyperpigmentation? its the latter that I most want to address but not sure how the different retinol products compare. thx
@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE I think it thinks my Java is out of date but I can't remove it. Don't spend any time on this, I think it is my problem. Love your videos
I actually don’t think it’s super moisturizing-it’s more of a treatment- I use it at night (I use Avene and Photozyme for eye cream) and then make sure to hydrate during the day. I still love my trusty Sukoyaka Suhada urea eye cream for day time-super hydrating and inexpensive! ❤️
Thank you for your reviews! I’ve been wanting to try more Avene products so thanks for the code too.🥳 I use their spring water spray twice daily and love it. Perfect atomizer too. I like fragrance in my skincare which I know isn’t in fashion these days but I always have. I tried the tester at Ulta of the body cream and it smelled SO good! Pretty and clean and now I’m obsessed and must save up for it. Bring on the perfume-y old lady cream smells 😂
I personally allow fragrance sometimes myself-depending on the product (and the scent). It’s interesting too, I definitely use scented body creams (purposefully) and that is skin too…..and I don’t worry about it lol Happy Tuesday Melissa 🥰🥰
Not better, no. Those are my 2 go-to eye creams right now for PM. The photozyme has DNA repair enzymes and retinol, the Avene has retinaldehyde not retinol. So each has its winning factor. Id say they’re equally good ❤️ I think you just got the photozyme-you don’t need this one (just my opinion 🙃)
I have their tinted and non tinted mineral face sunscreen and they’re very nice BUT the tinted version is definitely for someone with a darker complexion than me (by several shades) so I mix the 2 to lighten the tint. I meant to include that in this video 😐 But as far as the formulas- 12% zinc and nicely hydrating without being greasy ❤️
they changed the formula for the skin recovery cream with ingredients i’m allergic to and it was the only moisturizer I’m not reactive to. I had to buy 6 tubes on ebay of the discontinued formula 😭 still searching for a replacement
I think it would be fine. I’ll actually test it-I have blepheroplasty scars on my eyelids-I hadn’t even thought of using it there. I’m going to try it!
@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE Hi I have a question I used the wrinkle relaxer for 6 weeks w/ no problems used it as directed then all of a sudden I felt the skin between my eyebrows droop and sag that seems to pull inwards creating little horns above my eyebrows. I have done research on the ingredient Acetyl Hexapeptide -8 that in some people w/ longer term use creates sagging and drooping. Have you heard of this situation like that has happened to me? I have had this effect with my skin now for 4 months, any advice on some products I could use to help reverse the product’ effect?! Thx Penn!😊
Penny! The product you do not have here that I have discovered by Avène is the A-Oxitave Night Peeling Cream! It has Retinaldehyde in it. Avène Retrinal is the American version of this cream. I live in Toronto and this is what I use nightly all around my mouth. It is a wonderful product!!
So I think we can get the A-ox here too. I haven’t tried it because I thought it was something else. I must have it mixed up 🙃 I wish they’d just keep names the same internationally! I’m so glad it works for you! I love their retinal products so much!
I work for Avene in the US. In the US we do not have Aoxitive Night but Aoxitive serum and Water Cream. Retrinal is only in the US but yes, it is a different range name in Europe.

Happy Saturday Ariadna 🥰
There goes our friend Penny! Looking as gorgeous as ever 😍 yes ladies ..you are correct.. she is aging backwards 😍🤣😘
Thank you ❤
Hurray! I see your baby by the door! Oh, thanks for the product reviews too! 😉😉
At least one derm I follow likes the Eau Thermal Spring Water for her morning routine in lieu of washing her face. At least two derms I've seen have recommended the Tolerance Emulsion of sensitive skin.
Hi penny
Love your video's, I've just purchased cerave cleanser and a cerave moisturizer for using whilst derma rolling are they good products to use for treatments, I keep reading that you have to be careful what you use as some products they can be to harsh for the skin. X
Yes to everything! Including your super cute shirt! Is it an Amazon buy? ❤️
This one was from Nordstrom-a relatively rare splurge!!
I noticed the tolerance extreme emulsion is listed as sterile. Maybe microneedling? 💕
I have looked through your videos but can’t see anything about Curology. Do you like Curology as a good source for tretinoin? Thank you!
Love your videos and skincare tips!
Thank you for your videos! Could you please review the sunscreen? Thank you so much.
oooo I'm interested in the soothing mask! Thanks
🥰🥰
Thank you for being here Kate ❤️❤️
PS I’ve been loving your content lately so so much. I could just listen to you all day 😍
I hope anyone who sees this clicks your name and checks out your amazing channel! 😍😍😍
@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE Aww, thank you! I'm so sorry that your Instagram got hacked, I can't imagine how frustrating and violating that must feel.
Wow what brand is that yellow too from 😍💕
Thank you for this video!
Can I use Retrinal for eyes everyday?? I'm currently using it every two days but I have no irritation and I was wondering if I can use it everyday for better results. Thanks!
Yes you can-just watch (obviously) for dryness/irritation. If you see any just back off again ❤️❤️
Can you do a video on Eighth Day Serum? It’s supposedly high potency ingredients. I am curious about where dermatologists source these ingredients as well…
Happy Monday Penny! ❤
Happy Monday friend!
Hey Penny, first i have to say you did a very Good job with the french pronunciation👌🏻.
Huge fan of the oxitive line
I just bought the dermabsolu day cream. What Do you think about it?
Merci 😊
what is the right retinol for dry mature skin with hyperpigmentation? its the latter that I most want to address but not sure how the different retinol products compare. thx
penny, would the scar gel be good for helping heal cosmetic tattooing, brows in particular TIA
Lots of good stuff! But pls tell us more about the jewelry you have on!
Hi!
It’s from Melinda Maria 🥰
I follow her on Instagram ❤️
Extreme emulsion is discontinued. Any other suggestions?
I love the spring water.
That’s so weird? I have no idea why! I’ll see what I can figure out!
@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE I think it thinks my Java is out of date but I can't remove it. Don't spend any time on this, I think it is my problem. Love your videos
Wish they made the retinal fragrance and color free😢
Hey what about avene cicalfate repair cream? Its good for oil prone skin? This or emulsion which is better for redness and repair skin barrier??
Hi the Avene d pigment is realy phased out? I want that cream ..may I ask whats the website? I'm from Philippines
I’d love to try the eye cream-how moisturizing is it? I wish you didn’t have to spend over $60 to partake in the savings event.. thanks Penny!
@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE yes! That’s a great one! I also love DEJ revision eye cream and get it anytime I can find a sale (for my eyelids esp)
Wish I'd known about Cicalfate Scar Gel, before I bought this cream after squamous cell was removed. (It was 1 oz, $50!! glorified sunscreen! )
I love your necklace… the half moon. Do u mind to share where u purchased it? Thanks 🙏❤️💙💚
I bought it from Melinda Maria 🥰
And thank you!
It’s interesting too, I definitely use scented body creams (purposefully) and that is skin too…..and I don’t worry about it lol
Happy Tuesday Melissa 🥰🥰
Omg, yes, the SMELL! I cannot use any of the fragrance ones which is a bummer. Smell is so potent and old lady-ish, haha
It really is just WAY too strong!! I agree!
I hate fragrance, but I will check out fragrance free options
Someone's waiting to come into the room 😀
Hi Penn, like the eye cream is the Physiolift in the face creams the same ingredients?
Not exactly-the physiolift day is just a moisturizer with perfume 😬
@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE ok thanks
Was wanting to try this until I saw BHT was listed in the ingredient deck. It's a no for me even if it is a small amount.
Hi Penn ❤️. Is the eye cream better than Photozyme? Hope all is well
Not better, no. Those are my 2 go-to eye creams right now for PM. The photozyme has DNA repair enzymes and retinol, the Avene has retinaldehyde not retinol. So each has its winning factor. Id say they’re equally good ❤️
I think you just got the photozyme-you don’t need this one (just my opinion 🙃)
I bought the milk cleanser, and I could not handle the smell either!😓
Love your hair color, makes you look younger.
Thank you! ❤️
What if you already use Trentonin on your eyes, you wouldn’t need the eye cream too?
No you wouldn’t need an eye cream with a retinoid ❤️
thankyou for this video. i really enjoy your videos. can you review ante age. its a skincare line which has growh factors
You look great in yellow ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you my love 😍
Any thoughts on their sunscreen products?
I have their tinted and non tinted mineral face sunscreen and they’re very nice BUT the tinted version is definitely for someone with a darker complexion than me (by several shades) so I mix the 2 to lighten the tint. I meant to include that in this video 😐
But as far as the formulas- 12% zinc and nicely hydrating without being greasy ❤️
They’ve discontinued the tolerance extreme emulsion 😭
they changed the formula for the skin recovery cream with ingredients i’m allergic to and it was the only moisturizer I’m not reactive to. I had to buy 6 tubes on ebay of the discontinued formula 😭 still searching for a replacement
Ugh I hate when that happens!!
What did they add that you’re allergic to
Do you think it’s ok to use the scar cream on the eyelids?
I think it would be fine. I’ll actually test it-I have blepheroplasty scars on my
eyelids-I hadn’t even thought of using it there. I’m going to try it!
@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE I did too. I’m about 8 weeks po. I think I’m going to order it and try it. Thank you for replying!
Love your videos. You look fabulous
Thank you DeNora, happy Monday lady! ❤️
Do you still have 30%off with Avene? Thanks!
No sorry, that was a special sale. Their website does have great sales all of the time though so keep an on it and I am sure one will come up!
@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE thanks very much for responding! What is the best retinAL these days?
Is there a dupe for Revox wrinkle relaxer?
I haven’t seen one but I’ll search!
Thx Penn!😊
You look fantastic in that blouse.
Thank you so much ❤️
I have acne, rosacea AND sensitive skin. Im fucked.
Hi
Спасибо❤
💜😘
❤️😘
Hi this is jane from New Jersey
Hi Jane 💕
Tested on animals !!!! Do you women care ??
Avene are not cruelty free!
One of the most over-rated brands that many drug store brands outrank by the 1000's IMO
To each their own 😊💜
I must have it mixed up 🙃
I wish they’d just keep names the same internationally!
I’m so glad it works for you! I love their retinal products so much!
I work for Avene in the US. In the US we do not have Aoxitive Night but Aoxitive serum and Water Cream. Retrinal is only in the US but yes, it is a different range name in Europe.
@@jameskivior6062 thank you!!!
@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE Penny, if you can’t find it where you are, let me know and I’ll send you a bottle!
