Smoker is a tempo deck and not a control deck. It works different than Lucci because it’s not combo oriented and more so about pressuring 7k face while trading a body for a body. It honestly has more in common with Kata than Lucci imo. I do think he’s a sleeper deck tho, albeit some black players might have to adjust their gameplay with it if they are moving from other leaders to Smoker
Also because of this, Smoker has a very favorable matchup for being a black leader vs BB (relatively speaking). Building him like a control leader makes the matchup way worse
The Disrespect for Bello is insane. If they go to starve you you play the new 6 drop blocker to take life. Its a rogue deck easy. I've won 3 locals in a row with it.
Totally! It's all speculation especially when it's unrealistic to finely test +80 leaders in the game. Hopefully people that follow us enjoy the game and approach it from similar mindsets (similar to a game review you may follow) so these predictions generally align with that.
I started in OP05 and picked Arlong because i thought that the ability was strong. Building a body while having to swing with a 7k attack each turn and the option to get some new cards every set, hooked me (Fishman pun intended). Now that i matured, i put my arlong to rest. Playing arlong, however, was the biggest preparation to playing Doffi now, as arlong is playing doffi on hardmode. Gonna get some local wins now, for our fallen brother arlong!
One personal opinion is that for how easy and new player friendly Green Uta is, it also brings a lot of consistency as you said. Been pretty succesful for me in the first 3 OP-09 locals ( 32 players ones ) and went 4-1 5-0 4-1, it has many positive matchups across the board, the only two decks that are really hard to beat are Lucci and Bonney, can keep up with Blue Doffy's tempo, can swarm the board vs Blackbeard, can remove big bodies to Shanks, has the best of matchup vs Purple luffy. May be predictable, but the plays u do are still kind of inevitable, and can easly steal games with the reset leader event. Not saying it's a top cutting leader, but deserves at least to be in the rogue tier, it's very very strong into this meta
I feel like a leader like Rosie would be tolerable if it was given a reason to block something. For instance, if it had a ability similar to do flamingos that played characters rested potentially for free or discounted, you would want to be able to use your leader to protect it for that turn so that you could make use of it in the next turn.As it stands, it’s just such a bad design.
I play Rosinate and I think Unplayable is too low. The leader isn't good but, it has 2 great advantages that I think makes it worth considering at least for the Meh tier 1. The leader blocker works really well with 8c Kid. 2. 2c Sugar is busted card only held back from being a staple due to being leader locked.
I do want to say boa could be considered as a rogue deck with the coming meta of 2 of the top decks are conga lining big bodies (Shanks and Teach), her ability to leverage blue removal by just letting you draw a card is strong. This is coming from someone playing in the east where Boa is doing a lot of work in OP10, as a rogue deck that can punch above its weight class when needed. It will definitely lean more into using blockers early game like 1 cost law and stacker doffy to survive in the late game, but once it hits late game it’s gonna be house. Using cards like Red Roc to hit their top end and gravity blade to clear the way for your bosses, like bounce Kaido, Jozu, and Doflamingo/Borsalino. It’s doffy and pluffy match up is definitely gonna be rough though since this deck really relies on getting into the late game and with how fast those decks are it’s gonna be incredibly difficult to get to that point.
This is a really good insight and I've also noted a rise in seeing it among Eastern events! I think the reason we land on it lower here is strictly because Shanks and Blackbeard are NOT at the power level (until their support in OP10) where they shut out a lot of the diverse decks we see in Top Cutting and Rogue which can also given Boa Problems. Whereas Doffy is more powerful the wider/more diverse the field tends to get because of its aggression and flexibility, Boa gets stronger the more narrow and quantifiable it becomes. Really excited to see where she ends up in the English release OP10 meta! - Mike
I appreciate the insights on your decisions and agree that yeah boa may not have its legs yet in this meta. Can’t wait till Boa gets Kyros in the west! It was the sleeper card that gave the deck a boss monster with a strong ability and big body.
I think garp is actually a pretty decent combo of red and black. You don’t lean into removal but rather cards like 5c smoker and red Aggro. Then you full in the rest with removal. It is def not great but better than leaders like king or rg luffy who have super inefficient leader abilities
Maybe a wild take but I think RP kid should be bumped up it’s actually really good and if you get the 3 cost pudding from 08 your lead ability is free and it’s a decent aggro deck even while being over 3 life
It's definitely something I'm brewing some builds with, but with only one top I could find out of Japan I think its more than fair to keep it here and concede that it could have a slew of specifically good matchups. Feels like Doffy and Shanks ravage it for sure though. - Mike
@ I definitely agree it struggles into doffy, and that is the best deck of the format I don’t feel the shanks match up is that bad, however we may have just had different experiences with it!
It has a great matchup into the removal.deck with no top end morias and such to push combat, but against the rest of the field it still struggles to see impactful value.
I think boa is too low, she got a massive boost in 8.5 alongside doffy, and now that there is relatively less Lucci and Smoker, she has a decent matchup spread. Imo she is solidly rogue tier, and in 10 gets bumped to tier 2 with the addition of a single card, kyros. For MUs: 45-55 Doffy 45-55 Pluffy 55-45 Shanks 70-30 Blackbeard 60-40 Bonney 30-70 Lucci 50-50 RP Luffy 50-50 BY Luffy Due to bounce law she can handle sanji, zoro, and belo betty pretty easily, but any removal focused black deck can be hard. She's even or favored into a majority of Rogue tier, and can solidly beat most of locals tier. Obviously she is just a worse Doffy, but doffy is the best deck in the game, and she also has a great leader ability. It's a similar to the relationship between Pluffy and BP luffy.
Watch Yonas a Jackson’s tier list video. Having Boa in leave at locals is atrocious, especially when she is favored into Shanks, BY luffy, and Bonney. Has a 50/50 into Pluffy and Doffy, while Boa being Blackbeards absolutely worst matchup. The aforementioned players (two of the best in the world mind you) has Boa in Tier 2.
I'd definitely love to hear your reasoning! With most of the thrillerbark package being on play and frankly predictable towards its later stages in the game, it's hard to think of a black beard player who wouldn't be able to simple control out the gecko deck. But if you have a decklist we could check out we'd love to see it!
@ moría has access to various small bodies (brook, cindry, brannew, hina ) that can threaten bb’s value bodies (doc q, laffite, mansherry) WHILE also using leader ability to play a 5k power body every turn. Once you’re at 7 or 8 don you spit out multiple bodies per turn, if bb wasn’t able to clear your board early it becomes impossible to play 10c teach without expecting 3-4 attacks to face. Even if he HAS been clearing bodies early, that means he used cards from hand to clear, and then another card from hand to use leader ability and stop on plays. The matchup is in favor of Moria
I've tried shanks for a while. Personally I just don't like his playstyle. You sit and wait until late game before you get to actually do anything meaningful. Yes the deck can win. But you put in a whole lot more work just to win, when you'd have an easier time with a deck like doffy or purple luffy. Sure neither deck has big strong bodies like shanks. But they are a lot more engaging to play. Shanks isn't even fun like Enel with random triggers from life. Sometimes you only draw counter cards and other times it's all bricks. I feel like people are hyping up the deck because it's shanks and they really want it to be good.
Loooooooots of data from the Eastern metas also infer our takes, but if control style isn't the way you play it just isn't the way! The reason for shanks being the better of the control decks is that it gets around BB which is currently gate keeping our on play effects, while the big bodies it establishes are harder for lucci's to reliably multi-remove
Probably not anytime soon since there's other in demand content we have to prioritize, but stay tuned for some upcoming viewer submission deck streams!
@ i disagree playing 5 card hand nami is easy, just need to know the matchup, and the new nami gives a lot of value, and plays enough blockers to play when they try to not attack, always comes down to having one or 2 good triggers
Definitely! Which is why we harp on the wano release volume lately. We try rank the leaders by the power of their performance with the cards you have, not the leader individually, and try to just flag when the a leader is being held back by specifically its card pool or its ability more than the value of the total package.
man i have a problem with magellan so low, is ability with kid, nami, law, bepo is good, for example until de new st pluffy was good and the only diferece was 1 ramp don because the ability dont use so many time, instead magellan can get 1000 every turn and with maria you can even return all if with many, the new zoro can give you the ablity plus a don
Don't worry! You can use the chapters to jump around to the leaders you care about hearing about and the final tier list at the end! It's ALL ENCOMPASSING but that doesn't mean every second is for you :D
Croc is stacked don't get me wrong, but he was there doing things, i don't think any of those matchups were equitable to actually scaling their power against each other and fighting directly. More just trading off some general blows.
Is doffy being a good deck just a lie everyone is saying or am I missing something on how to playbit because it just seems bad vs black decks like lucci or black beards 🤔 main problems iv had is brook Rebecca sabos Moria and jacks it just feels unsinkable and green desks that lock your bored down..
Lucci matchup is unfavorable, but Blackbeard matchup is great! They combination removal can only KO without applying much combat pressure as well (like a 4cost 6k power lucci can) and no top end morias and stuff. And while they're trashing cards from hand to turn off your on plays you can still establishing bodies from the the top of your deck while being aggressive. Creating 2 card gaps every time you hit. The one turn they dont activation you just NEED to play a persona/top deck rearrange to setup your next couple of activations. Cards like Red Roc are also really important for pushing over their top end 10c Blackbeards.
Doflamingo is incredibly favored into Black beard, despite BB being able to turn off on play effects, if they do it too early their hand size will crumble and they still can't do anything against your leader's ability to bring bodies out on board with don equip when attacking ability. Against Lucci? If Lucci isn''t instantly playing the 4 cost removal Lucci character the minute doffy puts 2 characters down, then it's easy pickings. Red roc is essential for removal against Jack, and gravity blade is good vs those pesky rebecca/sabo blockers. Doffy, if it gets the space, can aggro pressure into black leader's life totals so your opp is forced to deal with your board. As for green, swing aggressively into their life before they get to their 10 don. Then start playing around their 10 drop doflamingos. Leave characters active when it makes sense to. It's all about knowing when to hit that 'go' button. -Luke
Instead of PB&J Luffy (what I used to call it), I now called it Peanut Butter Luffy lol just makes more sense that way 😂 I know you guys said it didn’t make sense when I mentioned on a live stream from two weeks ago
2:52:58 gum gum giant is the best card in the game right now you didn't have to walk back that comment 😂 at the very least i have absolutely no clue what the 1 drops are that would compete with it for best 1 drop card wins games that were not close losses before this card existed idk what other card does that by itself
I think the fact that its type locked is the ONLY thing making it not defacto best card in the game. Its definitely the most RELEVANT card in the game hands down right now, but if we're talking about power level cards like Ice Age is as powerful in the 1 drop interaction slot and then if we're comparing it to cards in other verticals of power Gecko Moria is in contention. - Mike
i love your argument. ice age is definitely debatable so let me go back 😂 didn't recognize your game my fault giant i personally consider to be a higher power level than cards like moria just because moria is more or less useful depending on what he can cheat, same with like jinbe or something (which is usually cheating something really strong in both cases, but giant is 100% always doing it's most broken possible thing)
Having issues with some bot stuff and we're not happy with it yet so while we called it would be up, it still isn't live. Thank you for your patience though we'll have it up soon
Cavendish is 0% the way in R/G Luffy. You run 0 of and that is how many you run. It's way too slow to justify you being at 4 life, and doesn't develop your board. The best way to play R/G Luffy is animal package by flooding the board with Choppers and taking advantage of FILM Brook to go insanely wide with 5k bodies. Is it a much worse Doflamingo? Yes. But the ability for you to run both Red and Green tech cards like Round Table and Straw Sword in your flex spots while also having insane kill pressure with Kid/Killer (7k and 10k swing with 8 don) is crazy. If you get the double attack off with 08 Chopper you are in a winning spot most of the time, and if you highroll with multiple early Shut Up and Comes, you just win the game on turn 1.
I see your animal list R/G luffy and raise you: "Okay but then just play Zooro". The green tech cards seem a bit slow, but I think the brook is kinda cookinggggg.
@JoyBoysTCG yeah there's a few green cards that make it worth running. The new Chopper Odyssey card is great, since if you bring him out with Summon Chopper, he unrest himself. Nico Robin Odyssey is decent as a KO protection card. I think Straw Sword is amazing as an answer to Teach dropping a 12k blocker on 10 don since you can't diable jambe with kid/killer. If they keep printing more 3cost strawhat support for green and red, Brook gets a lot better, but for now, he can bring out Rush Zoro, Blocker Chopper, and Summon Chopper. Summon Chopper is also way better in R/G Luffy than Zooro since you can double swing and bring out an extra body. 5 cost green blocker Law is also a great tech for replaying on plays like Nami and Chopper while being able to bring out Rush Zoro and Chopper.
If you think Marco is done you haven't seen solid Op09 lists with him. You talked about 7c Newgate and how it helps Shanks against BB when Marco is way more consistent at utilizing it. Also Marco has tools do deal with Burgess that Shanks doesn't. Yes, he struggles against BB and he has many hard matchups but there is still lots of potential in the deck. He may not be top cutting, but with Beckman and Yasopp adding more removal and defensive options he is for sure upper rogue tier.
Great points! One thing to note is that our perspective is that the format gets a lot bigger and the stacked reduction in Shanks we think is more effective than Marco's leader 2k minus without much else typically. It's also just REALLY hard to be a 4 life leader in this format but you definitely make great points!
list seems alright wouldnt call shanks better than lucci or bonney tho think shanks is kinda mid shanks loses to blue dofy it loses to lucci and loses to pluffy so imo shanks is below lucci
Yeah some of these stemmed from where we knew we place black beard in our heads and how much MORE we thought we'd see it played. So it was working backwards from that prediction and obviously that's not how things have played out .
Yup! That's why we included time codes for everything in the description which populate as chapters so you can navigate around for the specific leaders you're looking to hear about

It wouldnt be much fun copying someone's homework on an opinionated piece I'd say!
We do need more full art/alt art bepos pls!!! Bepo leader???????
Saying Moria isn’t good into black beard is seriously wrong lol
Luke knows best zoro!
@@blurrwolf8245 ARE WE STILL RUNNING ZOORO OR CAN MY BUGGY SPS COME OUT OF RETIREMENT?? SHOW ME THE WAY MASTER BLURRWOLF!!!
@@JoyBoysTCG SP BUGGY HABIBI
Could u maybe make a video about Lucci from OP03 and how to build him right now?
Probably not anytime soon since there's other in demand content we have to prioritize, but stay tuned for some upcoming viewer submission deck streams!
Nami deck is definitely on the top cutting!
I would consider nami a rouge deck it has very strong matchups against most of the meta except for Blackbeard
Doffy is pretty rough with the puddings, bottom decking.and aggression
@ i disagree playing 5 card hand nami is easy, just need to know the matchup, and the new nami gives a lot of value, and plays enough blockers to play when they try to not attack, always comes down to having one or 2 good triggers
Sabo has an interesting leader eff but damn it has no combos
I think green red oden is a good leader he just doesn't have as much streamlined support as other leaders
Definitely! Which is why we harp on the wano release volume lately. We try rank the leaders by the power of their performance with the cards you have, not the leader individually, and try to just flag when the a leader is being held back by specifically its card pool or its ability more than the value of the total package.
@JoyBoysTCG I agree with what you guys said I hope he gets more support or we get any more wano support for that matter
man i have a problem with magellan so low, is ability with kid, nami, law, bepo is good, for example until de new st pluffy was good and the only diferece was 1 ramp don because the ability dont use so many time, instead magellan can get 1000 every turn and with maria you can even return all if with many, the new zoro can give you the ablity plus a don
God damn 3 hours? I don’t know if I got time for this one chief
Don't worry! You can use the chapters to jump around to the leaders you care about hearing about and the final tier list at the end! It's ALL ENCOMPASSING but that doesn't mean every second is for you :D
New yellow revo triggers can't be for Robin because they're only for revo leaders. Robin is pure strawhat. We'd be cooking if she was revo though.
Yeah we're just referencing something the producer said about it. We think it's a joke that didn't translate well in English
Great video but the chapters are wrong, you forgot tge first doffy
looks like the markers exported wrong. thanks for calling it out will update now!
Crocodile took on whitebeard, all 3 admirals, mihawk, and I think luffy all in one day. The day he escaped impel down. He can take doffy
Croc is stacked don't get me wrong, but he was there doing things, i don't think any of those matchups were equitable to actually scaling their power against each other and fighting directly. More just trading off some general blows.
Can I send a red black sabo list i use seem to be good to me
@@aphoward33 yes! We definitely encourage it and I'd absolutely be willing to run it!
I really want to play Lim but everyone at my Locals play Dofi, Shanks, PLuffy and Blackbeard 😂
patience, our time will come. - Mike

Looks like you got 2 joyboy perspectives for the price of 1 haha
3 dons for your backsh- WHATTTT
Where RP law and BB sakazuki😂
RP law English doens't have the playable version yet so we skipped. Blue Black Saka is at 1:42:43
Instead of PB&J Luffy (what I used to call it), I now called it Peanut Butter Luffy lol just makes more sense that way 😂 I know you guys said it didn’t make sense when I mentioned on a live stream from two weeks ago
I've been calling it Peanut Butter Luffy because I just eat peanut butter sandwiches - Mike
2:52:58 gum gum giant is the best card in the game right now you didn't have to walk back that comment 😂 at the very least i have absolutely no clue what the 1 drops are that would compete with it for best 1 drop
card wins games that were not close losses before this card existed idk what other card does that by itself
- Mike
i love your argument. ice age is definitely debatable so let me go back 😂 didn't recognize your game my fault
giant i personally consider to be a higher power level than cards like moria just because moria is more or less useful depending on what he can cheat, same with like jinbe or something (which is usually cheating something really strong in both cases, but giant is 100% always doing it's most broken possible thing)
People saying OP O 10 is so funny to me 😂
Yall forgot to put the discord in the description lol😂
Having issues with some bot stuff and we're not happy with it yet so while we called it would be up, it still isn't live. Thank you for your patience though we'll have it up soon
Can you do more gameplay Videos
Yessir! Big plan for the new year!
@ Hopfully
Not hopefully, DEFINITELY! One of our goals when it comes to doing more in the new year. More edited gameplay more live gameplay
Please do the new st21
We'll rank that when we're at the format it's legal for! And review it closer to English release :D
betty unplayable?! wut!?
list seems alright wouldnt call shanks better than lucci or bonney tho think shanks is kinda mid shanks loses to blue dofy it loses to lucci and loses to pluffy so imo shanks is below lucci
Yeah some of these stemmed from where we knew we place black beard in our heads and how much MORE we thought we'd see it played. So it was working backwards from that prediction and obviously that's not how things have played out .
For the record, I play Arlong. He isn't my main deck, but his deck is one of the most fun decks I play.
Belo Betty 😂😂😂
What? She’s strong
First!!

3:29:25 there i just saved yall from overly repeated discussion about the same decks lol
Yup! That's why we included time codes for everything in the description which populate as chapters so you can navigate around for the specific leaders you're looking to hear about

I'm definitely tasty like one.
