My male German Shephard Shakesphere hated it when my kids and the neighborhood friends were playing in the pool. He ran around the coping of the pool barking loudly, One day one of my friends had a special needs Mongoloid son and John was in the pool with the kids but suddenly Shakesphere began barking worse than usual and jumped into the pool, We all looked and John had gone past the deep end dividing pool rope and Shakesphere had seen it and jumped in and grabbed John by the waist of his swimsuit and was swimming hauling John to the pool steps. These German Shephard's can smell danger and they will rescue if possible but Shakesphere was a good swimmer and loved the pool. John was not a good swimmer so he was always watched carefully when in the shallow end of the pool, Needless to say Shakesphere was quite the hero to Johns mother and all of us..Even out of the pool he would not leave John even setting next to his mother. He finally calmed down but not until they were about to leave...I totally love this loyal and loving breed..Rocky is one beautiful animal..I knew he would master the pool and water this breed never gives up lol lol
Yes, GSD can smell danger for sure. I left him behind with his mom at camp and went to get some water at the river just 20 feet away. He barks like crazy. I stepped on a log, slipped and fell on the rocky river bed. He always watch over me like a secret service.

Rocky was very excited about water. I think he was trying to get his friends to join him but they were not interested.
@@vinnyandrocky Okay, thank you, I misunderstood his barking and actions, lol. I'm glad he was not anxious, but excited to go into the water. He must be part Lab to feel that way.
