Makes me wish Metal Gear had become a big hit sooner in the America than it did. Given that Solid Snake was inspired by Snake Plissken, Kurt Russell already was able to look the part. He would have been a good Solid Snake when he was younger. I guess if they ever did it nowadays, he could be Big Boss instead, heh.
Big Boss makes more sense as he is much more Snake Plissken than Solid Snake is. Solid Snake is actually inspired by Snake Plissken and Reese from Terminator. Big Boss is clearly inspired mostly by Snake Plissken.

In addition to this let's remember that Kurt Russell's son Wyatt is also an actor, so perhaps in the film -despite Snake has confirmed to be Oscar Isaac we could have Kurt Russell as Big Boss and Wyatt Russell as Liquid Snake. That would be the perfect and ultimate metacasting

I would have loved to have seen Kurt Russell return one last time in John Carpenter very last movie Ghosts of Mars. I would have loved to have seen how he would have handled the Ghosts, plus he would have reprised his role as Snake Plissken. Plus he would have survived to the end as well.
