@@spectre111 Oh, Pacific Rim is TOTAL super robot in my book. There's room for argument, but I feel it nudges the line in the same way Dancouga does, borrowing from the "real robot" genre without crossing over. (Wing Gundam does the opposite, tangentially. It is a real robot show with a lot of super robot in its veins.) (And G Gundam is its own genre.)
@@CptJistuce Me, I grew up with the real robot genre. Yeah I watched Power Rangers as a kid but I kinda grew out of it but never grew out of Exo-Squad, Battletech or Gundam. So I guess i have a biased preference.
I love how each Jeager is basically its own character, they're so distinct in both design and fighting style. As soon as they appear on screen, you instantly recognize them. Romeo Blue, Striker Eureka, Cherno Alpha, Gypsy Danger, and Crimson Typhoon.
Even "Coyote Tango" which you only see for a few seconds in Mako's flashback was memorable and distinct. You can tell it was an older model with a more conventional military approach to combat just from the fact that it was the only Jaeger with giant shoulder-mounted artillery cannons. The only other Jaegers we see with ranged weapons is Striker Eureka with their chest missiles, and Gypsy Danger with the plasma cannon, which are all fired from close to mid-range
so weird to think that this movie is gonna be seven years old this year tbh, felt like it was yesterday when we were celebrating the fifth anniversary!
I love this movie a lot. A mix of Transformers, Iron Man, and Godzilla. I don’t think this movie is better than the best of those, but probably was the fourth best to me in 2013. Now it’s probably sixth, as long as we don’t include any other movies Iron Man was in besides his own.

This movie, and this theme song, had no right to be as awesome as it was. It's still one of my favorites.

You're watching Kong vs Godzilla. It's nearing the third act. They gave their epic climatic battle, then out if nowhere there's a bright portal that flashes inbetween them. A shadowed figure steps out... and right before the reveal...

The best mech movie that is, and will ever be.
Unless they make Gundam.
@@spectre111 Nah, as far as cinematic awesome goes, super robot > real robot.
@@CptJistuce Question: which one is Pacific Rim?
To me it feels almost like that fuzzy grey area between the two.
@@spectre111 Oh, Pacific Rim is TOTAL super robot in my book. There's room for argument, but I feel it nudges the line in the same way Dancouga does, borrowing from the "real robot" genre without crossing over.
(Wing Gundam does the opposite, tangentially. It is a real robot show with a lot of super robot in its veins.)
(And G Gundam is its own genre.)
Too bad some of them had 0 screen time. I would have loved to see more of that russian Bender.
i preff tacit ronin i think he/she is so cool the blades and sleak design (ships are called she so idk abouth mechs anyways..)
@@mczg4954 The A.I voices in the Jeagers are female, so I'm guessing they would be referred to as female, despite the fact they're genderless robots.
@@jacobcox4565 that kinda makes sence ships are also reffered as females. What is your favorite yeager personaly or like top 3?

Easily one of the most badass theme songs of all of cinematic history.
I will never forget the time my dad asked if I had watched this movie...
He said, "It like transformers, you'll love it."
i like both but please dont compare them
This is the movie that made Transformers look like kids playing with toys.
I love this movie a lot. A mix of Transformers, Iron Man, and Godzilla. I don’t think this movie is better than the best of those, but probably was the fourth best to me in 2013. Now it’s probably sixth, as long as we don’t include any other movies Iron Man was in besides his own.
Closer to Power Rangers than Transformers
@@CT-4274 Power Rangers feel like plastic, and can fight outside of their zords. The jaegers only fight as metal.

I love this movie. The way they did the Jaegers, especially Gypsy, was so amazing. I loved the sound that Gypsy made when she was going into battle. Did anyone realize that it was the sound that a battleship sounds when general quarters are called. It's that deep klaxon sound you hear when she surfaces on the battle against Knifehead
Love to see I'm not the only one that uses female pronouns to call the Jaegers :D
@@padroelhijodemorzat112 Ye, I also like calling Jeagers "she". It gives off this vibe of an old-timey sailor talking about his ship, but in the context of a giant mech.
@@grizzlyowlbear3538 as well as a term of endearment for the vessel that houses and protects you, say as a nurturing mother or affectionate lover. Very few things compare it that feeling of comfort and security. And what does manage to come close is usually made of a couple tons of steel.
