Bass theory - playing Major over minor

I can play the Major scale pretty well, so when playing in a minor key, I tend to play the relative
Major scale, found a minor third or 3 half steps above the minor key (B minor to D Major in the example) Its the same notes, but it sounds a bit different since we are not focusing on the root B so much when thinking/playing D Major.
