I would like to know more about the BKF. Sounds pretty cool, especially for that time. I feel like most young black men who grew up in the 70s had some affinity for martial arts movies, and many of us at minimum imitated what we saw on film with our friends in our play time. Some took it further and studied. It seems like there was a political movement attached to it back then promoting honor, respect, and unity in the community. That's a powerful tool.
As far as political the BKF was founded to represent Black Fighters, who were being discriminated against in competition. I did read that LAPD were harassing the BKF in their early years. Following students and what not. No doubt it gave many a brother a place to stay out of trouble and love themselves.
Thanks for sharing the info. I saw a couple of videos of Steve Muhammad talking about the origins of BKF, problems with the police, and the people and places he has encountered through kenpo/karate. He was up in age in the videos, yet still had hand speed that was visible on camera.
Here is where they are talking about Fighting Tookie. Scroll down to the name Kraiguar and go from there. www.martialtalk.com/threads/epak-and-sl-4.35280/page-5
I think Ice-T had homies from sixtys way back. He most certainly grew up in Crip neighborhood. Regardless he’s definitely a certified legend. Ice-T, N.W.A., and Dj Quik definitely brought gang life mainstream. I’ll never forget when I moved to Baltimore in 1981 I had a class picture from Raymond Avenue I showed my Baltimore cousins. They asked me what I was doing with my hands? I told them it was a gang sign. Mind you this is 1981 I was 12 years old. Nobody from the east coast knew nothing about gang life. And when Ice-T and everybody started talking about it people here was saying too me oh that’s what you were talking about way back then. It’s just amazing how far that culture has come. Proud to be from Cali. 79th and Vermont

Salute to the ogs out there I love the wisdom they can leave behind to encourage the youth and some of their past experiences is always key I did 10 years incarcerated myself so I understand that we view things a lot different after we did time able to think and way out of options salute Big homie
If anybody deserves to get compensated for an interview it's this guy. Really entertaining cat with a sense of humor. Coming on KMV was a smart move. I think he was very misunderstood. He needed to clear the air.
Mc Breed... I clock dollars in my pocket I’m from Rollin... every Rollin gang went crazy on that part...
Man that used to be the shit! Ain't No Future In Yo Frontin!
Bro that’s when I first really recognized Gang Bangin... every crip loved that song...
@@djdarkseid6440 Yeah...that and Growin Up In The Hood. Tha Chill's verse used to be my favorite verse back then
Ditto... CMW made straight rider music
Damn I was today years old when I knew he was rapping bout Crips thats my shit too!

It's like I can watch Big U interviews everyday..Keep them coming Mac..
Dat kev Mac intro is HARD
Bruce Richardson was one of the niggas I looked up too as a kid. He wasn't a banger. Str8 Hustla... He supplied the WHOLE area. Florence to Slauson, Vermont to Normandie. FACTS!!! young as fucc in the same church and all that. Know his mama and everything.
RIP.
You can tell by how Big U was talking about him Bruce was solid and about his business.
They had encounters with Tookie, one BKF member allegedly kicked Tookie in the Nuts.

My favorite part was when they whooped on the police.
Here is where they are talking about Fighting Tookie. Scroll down to the name Kraiguar and go from there.

He got dam near 100,000$ by just walking in the house Lololol it’s lit
damn BJ was a real life Robin H60d lol
Ice T is certified and was highly respected by 60s, Crip Hoovers, and rollin 40s.
Baltimore in the house.
"Miami Vice is small time L.A.s the big league/from the Rollin 60s to the Nickerson Gs/Pueblos/Grape Street this is what I see. The Jungles, the 30s. The VNGs...life in L.A. ain't no cup of tea" - Squeeze The Trigger which IMHO is the greatest "gangsta rap" song of all time.
In summer of 87 was 10 years old in Oakland singing this shit.....I ain't know a dam thing about L.A., let alone sets. Ice painted a picture...
Squeeze The Trigger is my favorite Ice T song
The government thought we were big time enough to send the military and feds full time to Miami in the 80's. Just saying.
Oh yeah he did say that
Flint Michigan in the house
@Last seen in Ski mask I can see you a lame. I didn't say that to debate with you clown. It's fact not fiction. Cocaine Cowboys wasn't a movie. You are probably from Idaho anyway dumb dumb😂😂😂
@Last seen in Ski mask and for the record Chicago is gang capital. Now go take the garbage out before your mother get mad😂😂😂
I remember that car wash Bruce Richardson had right there on Crenshaw around the corner from Crenshaw High School.
JStone remixed 6 in the morning.....that shit bang!!!!!
It's a trip never thinking I'd make it to 50 yrs, but remembering all of these cats from the mid 70's ti'll now, is a trip. My grandmother stayed at 6811 S. Haas Ave, we stayed on 78th & Budlong, Crazy D (ETG/ETH) & my family stayed on 52nd & Hoover & the same year we moved on 78th, they moved on 75th off of Raymond. My house was the spot while we were all kids (before the gangs set in), during the summer programs at Pepperdine, the carnivals that we had at Pepperdine, eating nonstop at Hamburger Henri's, bumming chili dogs from Art's... those were the days. Even my brother watches these videos, and his ass is doing 30 to life, but he's determined to be on here. He's Grape from 74 Hoova. I'm just glad to see cats still making it.
@@ladystyles1174 It was ETH & ETG at one time. Then they claimed one or the other.
@@Stankfunkmusic74 Crazy De was never from Hoover. He always been from ETG
@@ladystyles1174 Nah he grew up in an area where some 74's live too. Actually the 74 HCG and ETG were tighter than the 83 HCG and the ETG.
@@mrindianhair1719 I never said he was from Hoova, I said we stayed on 52nd & Hoover before both families moved. BUT... when ETG/ETH started up, cats were saying both names, the ETH of it filtered off. Names change, but the game remains the same. No different than the Slausons, the PBG's, the PBH's.... My family & D's family have known each other since 1971. No need to tell me who he never banged with, because I knew the nigga before he started bangin.
@Mister Logic Which one? He only went to four. lol

Reflections on BJ and Bruce bring back so many memories. I played Run Shoot and Dunk (Coach Weakley's basketball league) at Crenshaw with Big John and everybody that was anybody. The bleachers was BJ's office. He and his rich rollin crew would be there every day and they ALWAYS had a police scanner blasting in the background. The good old days!
That’s crazy Bruce and his pops ran Genius car wash on 52nd and Crenshaw I use to hang out up there after school admiring some of the Drug dealers that would come in there
Good interview 👍🏽

Kev MAC keep doing your thing brother
To the cats that keep saying what about the Usos or Samoans... pack outs ain’t considered a L... if anything it’s a W... if you got all your teeth, can walk, talk, etc... if that’s a L he took another 1 when he got jumped by the 83s when he was coming from jr High with his sister... pack outs ain’t a L especially if you don’t Run or cry your way out...
I went out swinging once...eyes closed but I was swinging🤣🤣
That was a W my bro... it’s some cats that lost they man hood for fear of being jumped
8 Samoan Security Guards Wrestled Him To the Ground then Called the Police

I used to be a kid sneaking to look at that album cover lol 💯
You know what Kev , Ice T could really clear up a lot important history ( mid 80’s ) on the 60’s too. I heard Big Mumpy mention him , Caz ( don’t know how you personally feel about dude ) and now Big U . I’ve T would be a great piece to add if that’s possible.
You on the Roll Bro good shit Kev on Big U. I would say Ice T was West side crip all day
Keep raising the bar Kev! U certified, let the role reverse and u get interviewed on your platform, sure u have some interesting stories too
