  • Here we have 3 very powerful gaming laptops! Which is best?!
    Alienware 51m? www.hidevoluti...

A proper spec for this chassis amzn.to/2u8LLl6
    EVOC P775? www.hidevoluti...
    MSI GT76 Titan? www.hidevoluti...
    9700k + RTX 2070 amzn.to/2RvpTZw
Liquid metal performance over a traditional paste has many variables.
LM improvements over Stock Paste. Ambient between 70f-72f.
*The AW51m Seemed to have benefit the least.
*The P775 was between 10c-20c improvement
*The GT76 Titan was 15c-20c+ improvement
How close are we at thermal throttling?
Do you have fan speed control?
-If not, how do the fans respond with temps?
How efficient is the chassis design?
Liquid Metal can improve thermal performance by 10% or better. That can be 10c give or take 5c on an average system that doesn't thermal throttle and can max its fans.
The more airflow the better and vice versa. The MAG didn't respond well to LM while a Titan and Ge 75 Raider will respond brilliantly.
On laptops where you have thermal throttling with LM, then your're only possible gain with LM is higher sustainable clocks as a traditional paste will thermal throttle at even lower clock speed as the threshold decreases. This also assumes max fan is possible.
On laptops that cannot max their fans on the owner refuses to use that tool, LM thermal performance improvements will vary based on chassis efficiency and the fan curve whether you set it or the laptop does this on its own.
When you have ZERO control over fan speed and the chassis isn't the best at expelling heat, then undervolting the CPU as well as the GPU along with the best thermal paste you want to apply is the last line of defense to improve thermal performance before you start to reduce clocks or Turbo/Boost features.
When the GPU and CPU share the same heatsink it's beneficial to undervolt the GPU when you want to improve CPU temps regardless of how well and cool the GPU is running at load. Removing the unnecessary overvoltage going to the GPU will help aid in CPU cooling.
