Ahhhh this is so cool! I've been wanting to do this for a very long time and I finally did it! I'm very happy with the way the paperback turned out. 😊 If you're curious exactly how you can do this, watch this tutorial I made: How To Order A Print Copy Of Your Book: ruclips.net/video/Oeh_rVcJVfM/видео.html
Thanks! I personally think it needs a bit more of something so I will keep working on it to figure out what that is. I also need to replace the artwork on it so that’s definitely not staying as it is now.
@@IasminaEdina Maybe a gradient of some kind in the blue background color? The illustrations look so good, cute and fitting to what you shared about the story.
awww now that is so beautiful 😻😻 I'm not a writer, but I can see how passionate and exciting you are to see your book printed for the first time I love the conver and I'm so in love with this channel
This is pretty cool, getting to hold something that you created. :D It's a great cover and text format you've put together, it looks polished even though it's a proof. :)
Don't know if you've ever looked into it but LuLu allows you to print personal copies without making them public (you can change it later if you liked them). And they do not put the nasty bar across the books. I recently used them for a personal copy and I am pleased with how it turned out.
Hi. Your book looks great. I'd personally like to disagree with you at 5:05... this looks hella professional and as a self-published author myself, I am really impressed with what you've managed to do here. Well done.
Aahhh, this is really exciting! The cover already looks really professional in my opinion:) Have you already talked a bit about the story in any of your videos? I'm not really into YA contemporary in general, but I would love to know more about the story and would give it a try when it's published anyways!
I think this video has more information on the actual concept/story: ruclips.net/video/koABXtTubig/видео.html&ab_channel=IasminaEdina I try not to give away too many details for obvious reasons, and I will definitely talk more about the blurb once it's close to getting published. It has changed a lot over the years, as you can imagine. But thanks for the interest, I really appreciate it 😊
I was going to go through bookbaby for my novel and I got some proofs and the paper is so thick and the book is so incredibly heavy even with the lightest stock and I just hate how it feels. It feels super unprofessional, so I’m looking at Amazon for publishing instead. I think you’ve convinced me to go that route!
Thanks! I like the overall design as well, but I would need to at least replace the artwork and maybe find a different font for the title. If I'm to make the final one myself. Otherwise, I'll hire a proper cover designer 😄.
@@IasminaEdina If that's the case, I would hire an illustrator instead and then do the end design yourself (if you can get the measurements and quality to an acceptable level) because the design itself, like others said looks good! And fitting, I think it would sell your book the right way, create the expectations in the reader you want to create.
Very few things in life are as exciting as unboxing your novel for the first time. Nice video. Oh, and this never gets old, no matter how many books you write. I wanted to ask you; what size font did you use for your lettering. Not the chapters or page numbers but the regular words. I'm always debating over sizes 12 or 14. I would like to know what size other authors use. If you go to your KDP "book self" and look to the right you will see where you can order Author's copies. These copies don't have the "Not for sale" stripe across it. Again, nice video. :)
Aren't author copies only available once you actually approve everything and click publish? That's what I understood, at least. And as for font size, I used Vellum to format, which doesn't actually tell you the exact font size, it's more of a scale, but from comparing it to other books I know the size of, it's 12pt for the body text.
@@IasminaEdina Sorry for the late reply. I didn't see your question until now. I always upload my Kindle addition first then immediately upload my paperback edition. Once the paperback is approved I go to the right of the books page and order the Author's copy. I have never bought a book with the "Not for sale" strip on it. :)
Wow congratulations 🎉. I finally got done writing my book, Iconic Animals of the North. I’m tidying up the manuscript but when I save an MS Word document as a pdf the images move around. Do you know any solutions to that
The formatting software I use actually doesn't use font sizes, it uses this slider thing, so I can't be sure 😅but what I was aiming for was 11/12 pt for the body text and 14pt for the chapter headers.
Love how the cover and the book turned out, I am also writing a novel of my own and I was looking into self publishing once I am finished, and I know another company you can try and get another author's copy and it's from Barnes and Nobles press? I haven't created an account for it or tried to get an authors' copy, but I've heard good things about the print quality.
I designed it myself in Photoshop, although I used art that I found online, since this is just a mock. I will have to replace the art with commissioned pieces instead.
I just wanna ask you something about the packaging, why did you receive a paper packaging, did you ask for it or was it amazon's choice? (I'm asking that because i'm interested in publishing on amazon but I prefer my books to be sent on biodegradable and non plastic materials like for you, sorry for my bad english)
Advise: Send your images 300dpi resolution to avoid blurriness. Amazon print-on-demand uses digital print, therefore is not traditional printing. The smell of the new books is because of the inks they use on traditional printing. You won´t have that smell as digital print doesn´t use the same inks I am a professional designer - your cover is quite good.
Thanks, I will probably keep the overall design, but I have to replace the illustrations since i do not own the rights to use these specific ones, but I will find something similar.
