This is seriously such a good idea to get printed copies coil bounded! I hadn’t even considered how annoying it would be to keep the book open while you work and how much space it would take up on a desk/table haha I’m really glad I found this video!

I have never heard of lulu before! This is so cool! I love coil bound books too! I just find they are more flexible! I am def gonna follow this video for when I print out my draft!

This was fun to watch. When I want to print out my book I do it at home. But being ink is not that cheap. I don't do it very often. Having your book in hands is the best feeling of accomplishment.

I LOVE this! I've been exploring ideas for printing my drafts for editing in a way that feels semi-official but also convenient for writing notes and all the things that go into editing. I think I'll do this!

Good choice with Lulu. We use them for our books. I've published about 10 books myself and about 14 of my wife's book. Maybe someday we'll see you at a book show. I've been at this for many years. A true "proof copy" is the one that you print when you are ready to publish it for the public. You have a "proofing copy" there. It's a rather expensive option, so we just prefer to do that through printing it on our home printer for edits.
This is so so cool! I don't think I would ever do this for myself, cause I struggle with handwriting-pains and prefer to do everything digitally, but it's nice to be able to live precariously through you instead!
Aw I hear ya on that one! I'll probably have to space out my scribble sessions just to give my wrist a break 😅
Amen! With some ulner issues and arthritis, I prefer it all digital too. My wife writes out her novels longhand. Ouch.

I love using Lulu for my personal/editing copies. Yes, the shipping does bite the hand a little bit, but it is totally worth it in the end. Yours got to you so much quicker than mine. Takes just over a month for mine to get to Puerto Rico, but I guess that's because Lulu uses UPS ground shipping and then switches to the USPS system for air shipping.

Hi Anna, just discovered your channel! :) Actually epubli does coil bound as well and I think with epubli you don't have all the trouble with formatting your book into a pdf. Maybe you can just format it in your writing program. I use Papyrus Author and there I can save my book as epubli and export it really easily :)

This was a great video and please don’t take this as anything other than a compliment but “Holy Fucking Shit” was the best part of this video. The rest of the video was great and gave really good information… but that emotion/realization was awesome.

Hey! I have two questions to ask: Can we order proof copies without making it live on lulu? And can we order it in paper back form?
I believe the answer to both questions is yes!

Can't even imagine what expectations to set for a proof copy; the bulk of my experience is in theatre where the only people who see your final draft are the cast and crew.
Thanks for being here! I love that you're from a theatre background, that is close to my heart also! Thankfully this copy is just for me, I will be much more intimidated when actual beta readers are involved eek! 🤓🤓
