    This is awesome, have you got any idea how to include the particle effects from the demo too? Or spawn them?
    I'm trying to film a scene hiding in a smoke, but there is no smoke ;(

      Let me see if smokes are their own entity and need to be added to the sequence.

      The new smokes seem like not supported yet, when you spawn their animation set the simulation doesn't work and it renders only placeholders.
      You can spawn the old csgo-style smokes tho, the best working animation set seemed to be explosion_smokegrenade_adaptive

      @@paperino0 thanks for the follow up. At least we have the old ones but still ain’t perfect. I fired it up a few times to see if there was a solve just meddling around and also have the question posted in the Eagle team discord.

      @@muchcharmndr I also wrote a mail to valve asking if they'll support it eventually or if there's a work-around :) will follow up if there's an answer

    Thank you very much. Never actually did any work with source filmmaker and just wanted to make a clip all of a sudden. 10 minutes and explained basically anything I would need as a newbie!

    Whenever I click on tools no matter if I have source filmmaker open or not, source film maker does not appear. Like it just says workshop tools anything I have to do to make it show up on under the assets browser?

    this was insanely helpful; my struggle at the moment is after i record the section of my replay, SFM has a 70% chance of just crash/closing everytime i interact with the viewport. all windows on the same monitor; but will try opening the console immediately

    I cannot download my demos from Steam. Any ideas why this is happening? When I click "Download Replay" the black steam window comes up but it does not take me into windows explorer. If i highlight the black window it says "The resource could not be found"

    Okay so, say I wanted to focus on a particular models hand and have the camera locked to that hand, is that possible or would I manually have to zoom the camera in and slowly make key frames as the hand is moving? I’m a little shaky on selecting the character models like animation skeleton so I’m not sure if I have to select the hand in the skeletal view as well.

      Oh yes! You would use some flavor of constraint (point, orient, parent or aim).
      From the Animation Set Editor:
      Select the camera transform FIRST
      Ctrl-click the transform of the hand (or anything else really)
      Right-click on the hand transform, click constrain 'this' to 'that' (cam to hand)
      Choose 1 of the 4 flavor and experiment from there.

      If you wanted to build a more advanced form of a follow rig, check out this tutorial: ruclips.net/video/YFwqupGzk7M/видео.htmlsi=khY0aTOHO0dZMRCR - This is from S1FM but they mention the subtle changes from s1 to s2. A bit more steps but you pick it up quick and it's a great little constraint loop all around. Once this is built, you can set a constraint and the operation will be somewhat easier and you'll have the model-based markers also.

Thank you for responding, up until now I haven’t been able to find what I’ve been picturing since I didn’t know the vernacular for camera animation.

    Do you know how to change lightning? When i'm trying to use camera settings like "maplightscale" or "timeofday" nothing happens.. Would be nice to make some dark cinematics with nice spit lights etc.

      Afaik the world/map lighting in S2FM is baked in place. You would need to migrate all assets and sequences into something like Blender and relight everything.

    Lovely tutorial, just a quick question, is there anyway to get the players skins from the demo, into the recorded playback in SFM? Thanks.

      As far as I can tell, not yet... hoping the next few updates let us import/swap those with the stock models. We're also experimenting with cloth simulated player jerseys that sit on top of the player models. So far that hasn't worked either.

    Hi, I'm from Russia, I use Google translator. Please answer one question, is it possible to transfer the demo from S2F transfer to UE 5 ?

      There are various methods of moving FBX information between the software. I would be curious as to why other than simply having more control over what you're manipulating perhaps? I would make sure you aren't violating any of Valves public asset agreements though if you're producing something to sell.

    So, is there a way to fix laggy anims in pov? I tried to edit them but it only ruined the position of viewmodel

      There's no single fix for this. I assume you went into the motion editor and tried to smooth stuff out and yeah it breaks other stuff. If you parent the weapon to the hands and same with the belt accessories you'll get close. I also found that setting the demo time scale super low like 0.1 and then recording that will get you more frames for the anim but it still is noticeable. Hopefully valve continues to update S2FM for CS2.

    this worked so good until a couple of weeks ago... maybe there was an update in cs2 that changed something? Now when i'm trying to do it it crashes, when ever i click in the viewport it just crashes with out an error message. any ideas?

    shadows are not loading properly anymore when importing a demo, is there a fix for this issue?

      If you recorded a demo and left the lights checkbox on, the single global light is probably overriding everything else. Add it to the Animation Set Editor (should be the only light you can add) and hide via clicking the eye icon to the left of it.

    yo man great vid! is there anything i have to do to eb able to timescale to 0.25 bc nothing happend when i do it, i can only do 2 and so on but not to slowmo... help appreciated :)

      Just to confirm, this is from right-clicking on the clip in the clip editor and setting time scale? or are you doing this from the Vconsole? I can test to see if this behavior changed from recent updates also (others reporting weirdness).

      I believe you'd need to make a copy of the original map, load it into Hammer and make your lighting adjustments. From there you'd bake the new lighting and then export it for use in S2FM. Baking takes a LONG time depending on your hardware specs.

    I try to open demo after set map to Dust2. But I failed many times, cs2 crashed, with log: ERROR! VK call failed! result = VK_ERROR_OUT_OF_DEVICE_MEMORY. I am using RX 6700xt 12GB, also 32GB DDR4 RAM. I open my monitor, when I open my demo, my VRAM increased to 11.9GB then crashed. I google all day, but found nothing, nobody has the same ERROR. What should I do?

      Did you install the CS2 Workshop tools? From Steam games: CS2 properties, DLC, check the box for Workshop Tools and then start CS2, choose workshop tools and start the S2FM from there @@muchbetternow

      Definitely! Just make sure you’re in first person cam and the cameras checkbox is ticked in the record window. Keep in mind you’ll have to stick with this view since it’s just floating arms and weapon if you setup an external camera.

      Soon I hope. I'm trying to get an audio mixing tut developed before making a part 2 for S2FM. Last I checked there is still no way to bake the smoke grenades tho...

      I’ve checked after every update and the data still can’t be recorded to SFM. There are smoke volume entities but I’m unsure if those have to be linked to the grenade mesh, triggered and baked the appropriate tick number. Still a mystery but hoping they can fix this in an update 😫

      Are you using more than one display? It could be a matter of which window the viewport is in. Also open the Vconsole right when you load into S2FM before doing anything else and see if that solves the crash.

      for me it crashes when I shift+left click to position models
