I’m looking for Brenda Casey and her son Dave Casey. They are my Aunt and cousin. They live on little Germany Road. I was wondering if you have heard of them or seen them. Thanks for any info.
I know Dave. He was older than me by a grade but I Went to school with him and rode the bus with him. My cousin back packed in one day last week and no one was at Dave’s house. His house was ok so We believe they either evacuated when they got the warning on their phone and are staying with family/friends or was one of the people who opted to be taken out via helicopter after the flood. If they was missing I believe I would have heard about it I am sure they are both ok. If I can find out for sure where they are at I will let you know as soon as I can!

Im over macon/swain county . I’ve been so sick of just hearing Asheville, Asheville, Asheville. I keep saying these people all around they’re worse off and stuck! Thank you for doing this video.
@@cumberlandquiltchic1 Haywood County here…I feel the same..it’s literally devastation throughout Southern Appalachia..but I’m so very grateful for my community and the many outsiders like the Cajun navy, private helicopter pilots and the mule teams that came immediately..and to all the volunteers..people are doing all they can to help each other..the devastation is just massive!
I agree. The community makes it all bearable. I’ve never experienced anything like it… everyone went into action immediately! Im disappointed in Ingles. They’ve had a monopoly for years on western NC. (4 ingles in franklin nc for example. 2 supersized with gas, 1 old downtown and a sav mor while is theirs and sells dented cans etc). 🤦♀️We began to run out of everything immediately. No more trucks are coming. Seems they only had the one distribution center that flooded with their trucks. Why if you’re going to corner the market , wouldn’t you have at least 2 distribution center?!?!! What if there was a fire? A flood? Anything… 🤷♀️
Part of the reason they say Asheville is because a lot of people aren’t oriented to the geography. Says soon people will start to branch out. It’s also the most dramatic devastation, so it attracts the disaster journalism. I’m sorry about the loss in your county and those around you.
Oct 16 and we're just days away from a single lane access road. Water to follow shortly after. We have SO MANY people to thank for their incredible outreach. Literally risking life and limb to reach us with supplies. This community is extremely resilient but we still needed help and you all came through in ways we would never expect. We could never thank everyone properly but hope to at least shake the hands of those we haven't yet met. May God bless every single one of you.
I'm from a suburb in the midwest and I don't watch much TV or mainstream news, but I'm here and watching and listening. I'm so shocked I can't even fathom how surreal and devastating this is. Thank you for recording and sharing. I'll keep watching any updates you post. ❤❤❤ You deserve to take and eat what others are giving. You might have more than others, but not worrying about what to cook and using precious supplies is something you do need. Even if you can do it yourself, yall have been through a lot and the trauma affects you deeply. Survivors guilt is real, but it's ok to relax in moments and take comfort in what others have provided and allow it to help you preserve and replenish. I'm so sorry for you've had to see.
Keyboard warriors have NO CLUE what they are talking about. They haven't been up in that area. I HAVE and there is NO WAY I would have EVER thought this could have happen. I LIVED on the Coast of Texas where Hurricanes are the "norm". NO WAY would I think of Hurricanes destroying a MOUNTAIN AREA!! God Bless you all. Prayers for continued recovery.
Thank goodness there are folks like you helping their neighbors. ❤ I'm so worried about corporations coming into our mountains and buying everything up. I hope everyone can keep their land and continue their way of life in the future 🙏
Here's a novel idea. Stop the payments to shore up Ukrainian businesses and use it to pay off any debts and rebuilds for the people who are in dire need in this area. AND, set up tried, trusted, and true local citizens to help distribute the money and not the government.
Corporations can pay cloud seeding companies to cause storms. There are a couple guys at Noah and a couple guys at NASA using 55 and 60th airwing to dispurse chaff. weather radar can stear it. That's why they digitized radio and TV. It was causing storms.
God bless you, and your family! I'm just down the road off the 107, no one even knows on the outside, what we are experiencing! Keep putting these videos out so the world will know and remember

FINALLY SOMEONE TO VALIDATE ME. I lost my entire home, that had been in our family since the 70s, 6 years ago. I live in Maryland, 2.5 hours from the ocean. We had an itty bitty tiny stream running through our backyard, and my great aunt, who once lived in the home to take care of my Pop Pop, had only ever seen 1/4 inch of water in the basement. In all of her years. Tropical Storm Lee hit us and destroyed us the first time because of constant overdevelopment of houses and apartments at higher elevation. We cried and pleaded for so long with the county and they kept building. All of the runoff went to us and the entire neighborhood lost our homes. We had three "one in one thousand year" floods in 6 years. Lol. The houses in the neighborhood were all demolished 6 years ago. I'll never get over it. I didn't get a penny in compensation. Our next door neighbor actually rebuilt their home on stilts. Stilts. In the middle of a suburban neighborhood, 2.5 hours from the ocean. Lol. Thank you so much for pushing back on the fools talking about flood plains and building by water. They don't have a clue what they are talking about and never will. They sit behind their phones and have never known tragedy in their lives. Bless you and thank you for showing us what the media never will. I am praying for you and your loved ones. Subbing after this comment.
Nevertheless we need better and more informed, transparent planning not by developers and politicians behind closed doors and the public doesn't know anything until the bulldozers show up. You know like mushrooms.

I'm so thankful for the outpouring of love. I live in Kingsport and we only lost power here. Most of the videos on here are hard to watch and see what suffering people are going through. Thank God for Samaritan's Purse, Dolly Parton, Mountain Mule Packer Ranch, World Central Kitchen for all their help.
We have a daughter who lives in Kingsport with her husband and 4 children.…she said they did not lose power at all so I guess only parts of Kingsport lost power? I hope everyone who was affected by this terrible storm can be helped and taken care of. I hope everyone realizes that the reason the Red Cross and FEMA does not have the resources to help because the Democrats stolen money from federal emergency accounts to pay huge amounts to illegal immigrants. Do not vote for Kamala Harris and her party of thieves. Hope you continue to stay safe.

Hello! WNC here. People have a hard time understanding how this can happen in the mountains. They don’t understand debris flows, the changes dam breeches caused, etc. We still have some people cut off in my county due to bridges washing out. Responders know, FEMA knows, people are getting supplies to them by air or by taking the long way around. Families live in the roads. I know they’ve got each others backs and can make it just fine for now. They hunt, fish, they have most of their gardens canned and put up. Health care is one of the main things that worries me. I feel the same about people coming in. It’s been amazing and overwhelming. I was crying on my way home from work yesterday because I was surrounded by a sea of cars from all over the U.S. that had brought in boats, aid, etc. I work at 911/Emergency Management and people came in to cook us Eastern Carolina BBQ today. We were lucky. My county was lucky, all things considered, but they still want to treat responders to a meal. It’s incredibly kind.
@@ArchieChristopher-c5z Some counties and towns are in horrible shape. Complete devastation, several fatalities people have not been able to make it to yet. People speaking to reporters are now describing the smell of death in the air. It’s heartbreaking. My county was lucky, but that luck is someone elses misfortune. We have damage, people that are cut off due to washed out bridges, some had to be evacuated but it was mainly people in the southern end of my county. No fatalities, thank goodness. There are a few trailers/mobile homes that will have to be scrapped. It could have been much worse. Most counties have damage but things get much worse from Haywood Co on toward Buncombe and beyond.
@@ArchieChristopher-c5z At least we know that the people in my county that are cut off, until bridges get replaced, are okay. They have supplies. People are communicating with them. Their bridges will be replaced as soon as possible. That’s the case with several people. There are ways to get around until the rushes are replaced but it’s a much longer trek, on foot or horse or ATV.
I’m an American but I’ve lived in New Zealand for about 9 years. We had unbelievable floods last year and it took communities by complete surprise. I’m proud of you for showing these cut-off and remote areas devastated by the floods. I’ve subscribed.🙏🙏🙏
It was never a "Flood Zone" it was the hurricane that stalled over this part of N.C. where the mountains where other people live on, the ground was already saturated from a week of pouring down rain. So hurricane came, no one there had any idea that this would devaste their Hollers and below in the Valleys. The mountains were like Funnels, where the rain fell and it flooded the streams and rivers, and the landslides it produced, heading down. N.C. and the area of Tennessee, got 30 inches of rainfall. Do you know how much rainfall that is? 40 trillion gallons of rain! 40 trillion gallons of water could flood the s tire state of N.C. and still have 3.5 FEET. 40 trillion gallons of water can fill the Dallas Cowboys stadium 51,000 times. People in the valleys living near or on the streams and rivers didn't have time to prepare. They don't have a home left standing or they do but its destroyed inside. Why weren't they prepared, let's see, it would be like asking people in Iowa, why they didn't prepare for a tidal wave, or people in Florida, why didn't prepare for a blizzard of snow. Cause these things do not happen. Same thing for all these folks in N.C. and Tennessee, who were hit by hurricane Helene. Living in a time where inflation is so high, I just don't see the state getting federal dollars to repair the infrastructure of this area, or the Tennesseans structure. Or any other place hit by disasters. They might fix up what is convenient for themselves but not people who are fine folk in these valleys and in the mountains. If the feds and the state put any real help into repairing. It's just going to be a patch job. Down the road were all going to see things worse than this. Not just more disasters but other things long foretold. It's really bad now, but it will vet worse before it gets better. And if some of are a live then, you'll be surprised! In the meantime stop blaming these folks for something that Never Happened before!!!
You are exactly right no good way to prepare for what happened to these folks it was what they call a perfect storm probably never ever see it again at least I hope not.
Thank you for updating us. I'm from New Jersey, and I have been sick about this since it happened. I kept looking online for updates about Appalachia and there was nothing. I'm so glad you are all getting help.
As being someone who experienced Katrina and the destruction of my city. This is worse. In Katrina your house was most probably there. You lost mostly everything but things were here. This is also something a lot of us from my area prepare for. This is total destruction of communities. My heart goes out to all of you. We are praying and donating to groups of people with trucks to bring out supplies to as many people we can. I really wish I could do more. Thank you for showing this. I know it’s hard and you question if you should but video all of this. It helps bring awareness.
This is a catastrophic event. It could not have been forseen, people stop blaming the residents! I appreciate all of you who are recording this historical event. I have SEEN so many of these videos and am proud of the individuals taking care of their own communities. Your governments are getting the supplies in but it's the individual citizens who have taken on the responsibility of getting it where it needs to go. THANKS TO ALL OF YOU❤
Thank you for doin these videos. We live just less than 5 minutes up from Arnold off Cherokee, old Embreeville... by the Grace of God, we didn't get much more than a butt ton of rain. What y'all watchin on the news isn't even the start of how bad it is. His videos are showin things mainstream media isn't gettin to. Not that they don't want to, but there's just so much. It's hard to show everything goin on. The roads he's travelin, well backroads are main roads round here. Most sane people in these parts avoid the interstate like the plague. We went to Lamar School to drop some stuff off. It's been designated a shelter now so we headed to the church, Cherry Grove. Goin down that area was heart wrenching. We went up to Big Rock and I made my husband turn around... I just couldn't. I've cried everyday day for a week now. The loss is unbearable. I'm taking stuff to Jonesborough Fire Dept now. I just can't bring myself to go down you're way just yet. But you, God bless you. Through your lens, I can see what physically I don't have the guts to handle in person. I pray God keeps you, your family, friends and neighbors safe and that his comfort, courage, love and peace fuels y'alls every breath. Can we get an update on your family members? I think I remember you sayin a couple were pregnant and had lost everything? How can I help?
Prayers from Utah! Sending you good energy, prayers, chi... everything we got. Bless you for sharing and correcting the ignorant comments of some people. United we stand!!!!
Those looked like bottom land just washed away, river channel was an avalanche of water mud trees vehicles etc screaming down a mountain. The force of the initial impact that changed the river is unimaginable, the sound also had to be immense.
I'm glad you're showing this. I'm in Georgia and we're hearing so many conflicting reports in certain ways. Because people are "trying" to volunteer, "trying" to take supplies to certain areas and then they're being turned away or told no. I have talked to a few people about going and helping ever since it happened and I've been told NO by literally everybody. I'm wanting to come and help cleanup and rebuilding and I want to work for several days.
There is sadly a lot of misinformation going around, and much of it is intentional and malicious. That doesn’t mean that everyone that buys into it is malicious but the people deliberately and knowingly spreading it are. The people falsely claiming that no one is here helping and no one is being allowed to help are trying to prevent people from getting help. They are the exact same people directing those that want to donate to fake “charities” that are scams. They are the same ones telling people that lost everything NOT go to FEMA or the Red Cross for help. They are trying to harm people. Several people have been able to bring in donations and aid of various kinds. It’s incredibly kind. The main government bodies do need people to check in with them. This is a standard safety issue. Some of the areas/roads aren’t completely stable. They’ve had some folks come in here wanting to run all over the world and make videos in places they do not live and that are not structurally stable. They can direct folks that do want to help to safe areas to provide aid and if they have specific trades/qualifications they can direct them to other areas where they pitch in. We’ve unfortunately had people coming in to do nothing more than see if conspiracies they have heard are true. We’ve also had identity thieves going through debris looking for documents with personal info. They are going to be less likely to call first and say they want to help.
Help is going to be needed for months. Too many pouring in at once is not helpful. If you really want to go there and help you will find opportunities to do so. Awesome you are willing and able.
@AZsunflower Thanks for the kind advice. My plan is to go in November and then hopefully again in December. I'd like to go for about 2 weeks each time. That way someone who has a family can be with them during the Holidays if they need to. I'm very used to lifting heavy things and my grandfather built subdivisions. So I think I'd be of some help long term. I am not just saying this. I feel a "calling" in my heart. 💖 I believe God is going to make a way for me to get there and stay to help.
The best thing to do is don’t even acknowledge keyboard expert idiots. It doesn’t matter where you live, if that much water falls in a day you’re always in a flood zone. Blessings from Eastern North Carolina. We feel your pain and we are donating as well.
I really like the titles you put with the sound commentary. Having the two together helps me understand and catch your meaning. I think you do an excellent job of video and storytelling. You’ve added valuable content for current needed information, but also historical record. Sorry for all you y’all have gone thru, but inspirational how the helpers showed up, and people stayed strong where they had to. Please accept my deepest condolences for those families and friends who endured a loss. 💕

I survived the 2013 floods in Colorado for 8 days on a mountain with 5 other neighbors, our first experience with that kind of flooding was 1976 with catastrophic flooding, they thought they had it figured out after 1976, but the river came back in 2013 and said watch this.. we aren't even subject to hurricanes, both floods were just rain storms.. and I realize there has been no flooding in the area for a long time, but you HAVE to be aware that these rivers, creeks and valleys have been formed over thousands of years of water and yes flooding, trapped between 2 mountains the water can only go UP when ours broke out of the canyon it was a wall of 33+ ft high....People who don't understand mountain living are the ones who make the statements about rivers not changing,.. the course of the Big Thompson in Colorado has changed twice in my lifetime. us mountain people are tough and resilient, my best and thoughts to all those there.
I grew up in Colorado, and I now live in NC with my husband. Remember how the water tossed boulders around like pebbles, and cars were buried under mud and never recovered. The fury of water from flasflooding down a ravine cannot be underestimated.
@@monicamoore7597 Some of those cars are still in the river and couldn't be recovered buried under boulders, just parts of them sticking up out of the water and in Glen Haven there is still a car sitting up in a tree,17 ft off the ground from the 2013 flooding. I remember sitting on our mountain watching as the water rolled a boulder the size of a cement truck barrel like you would roll a marble..
Watching from Canada, and hoping everyone is accounted for. This was an unprecedented event compounded by the previous rains you received prior to Helene. Between government and private volunteers, and everyone working together, you will get through this. I know there have been several electrical and public work crews come down to help throughout the southern states.
Please know that we in Wyoming are keeping you all lifted in prayer. In fact our small town In SW Wyoming has spent the last 5 days getting donations and a trucker offered his truck to haul it out there. Hopefully it is stuff that is really needed. God bless, comfort and keep you all safe.

Thank you for sharing. I'm sorry to say but there are SO MANY little towns along the path of the hurricane that are just like this one, forever changed. My dad was from the Appalachian mountains and he constantly told us of reasons to have a garden, reasons to be able to hunt and fish, reasons for having extra for our neighbors. I've never appreciated it more than I do now. Remember enterain strangers because unknowingly you have entertained angel's. Praying for each person effected by the hurricane. Honey, tears are just love running down your cheeks. I lived in South Carolina during hurricane Hugo, I've lived in the high desert during wildfires, honey, water is just as powerful as any natural disaster... the topography of the area may be changed in some places and it will take time to heal, for people and wildlife but it will get better. If I know anything about the people from the Appalachian mountains, they are a resilient people. 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️
Some of these comments from the public display an incredible lack of knowledge of hydrology( water) & topography/ geology. Just makes a person shake their head!!
I'm 70 years old originally from New York that's a wonderful video that young man did that's what we need more of we pray for the people in the hard hit areas and to whom ever made the comment build on higher ground they do not understand typography does mountains and there's valleys weather valley saw the water flows in creeks and rivers and when a major hurricane overcomes that area there's no place for the water to go except to build up an eradicate and wipe out people's homes so there is no higher ground to build on
I was just on another channel saying the same thing…her house wasn’t impacted but everything around her was and it just sounded like gloating. She just kept saying “oh you need to have preps and look at all the things I’ve prepped”. Like how tf you gonna say that when people’s ENTIRE NEIGHBORHOODS ARE GONE! Thanks for the excellent video. Glad you’re in good shape and have your truck. Back in the ‘68 I discovered Bumpas Cove on my Suzuki 90 trail bike. Some awesome trails up in the mountains. Hope your bridges get replaced sooner rather than later.

When they offer it, take it. From my experience, that may be the last time you see anybody and your supplies WILL run out eventually, cause there's nothing left in most towns to go get! The idiots here in macon county have been trying to get it passed for long time to allow building in flood planes! 🤦♀️ it’s all about 💸
It happened in Vermont 2011 hurricane Irene. We tried to warn people in Asheville. They couldn’t fathom we were right. Donating all we can and will monthly.
They are talking about the future, not hindsight. Why can't at least SOME new construction be built a little higher?
All the debris could be ground up and used as a layer to build the land back adding more layers.
@@jeremyledbetter8022 Jesus H Christ Cleetus! Enough with the tinfoil hat nonsense and misinformation. The only "modification" was global warming, which made the storm worse than it would have been otherwise.

Thank you for reporting on these areas.
Your right. Asheville went woke and the media is so go figure.
People in Florida retire to your area to get away from hurricanes. We were always made to feel it was safe in the mountains.
Keyboard warriors have NO CLUE what they are talking about. They haven't been up in that area. I HAVE and there is NO WAY I would have EVER thought this could have happen.

How can they survive? Not gonna happen without a way to get out.
Hello!
How is the situation over there?

You are American!People like you are the fabric of what made America,America!😊
Anyone mentioning climate change?
I know there were many areas the Native Americans would hunt in but not live there.
It’s sad that many people could not afford to leave.

Bless your heart for showing us this area, tired of hearing about Asheville.

Those looked like bottom land just washed away, river channel was an avalanche of water mud trees vehicles etc screaming down a mountain. The force of the initial impact that changed the river is unimaginable, the sound also had to be immense.
I have watched several of your videos. Thank you for sharing your heart and your love for the river with your viewers. Peace..

The corporate government won't do anything but block aid. They are all responsible for death and despair. Us neighbor's are there for ya'll.

I am stunned!! I loved driving up in there. The house on the right with the moss roof was always my favirite site. Theres an old graveyard up in there too. There's old stories about that area. Breaks my heart to see this has happened. The Nolichucky is unbelievably wider now!

When they offer it, take it. From my experience, that may be the last time you see anybody and your supplies WILL run out eventually, cause there's nothing left in most towns to go get! IF there are trucks getting to YOUR town, you're lucky! Everybody else I'm seeing say's there isn't anything coming in cause the roads and bridges are either washed our, washed away or covered by mudslides. You are blessed and WE are thinking of y'all and sending EVERYTHING WE CAN!
