This was one of the few songs my father and I sang together, he passed away 2 years ago and his birthday is today so I'm remembering him by listening to this classic ❤
I am not an 80s guy but I still love these 80s songs. They are so good. I played GTA Vice City Stories in which Phil Collins was there and he really had a concert of this song in that game. I loved it. Most of the time I had found these wonderful 80s songs from video games and TV shows and films.
His Friend Was Drowning An Phil Asked For Help from Passing Cars A Car Stop An Then Pulled Off An His friend died!!! He Remembered There License Plate Mailed Them Tickets An They Killed Them Selfs After Hearing This!! Supposedly 👀👀
I think this song hits everybody...if you really listen to the lyrics, it's not aiming to hit everybody, but the simple lyrics...we all feel it, coming in the air tonight...we've all been waiting for this moment for all our lives....this for me probably more than any other song defines the 80s.
THE LEGEND !!! ❤❤❤ Ich bin Deutscher, aber ich habe bei Musik keine Grenzen. Das ist eines der besten Lieder aller Zeiten. Danke Phil. Du bist eine Legende für sehr viele Menschen !!! ❤❤❤
It's something about this song that reaches out and touches you. Always will be a classic. The drums, lyrics, organ, guitar and everything just fits together so perfectly!
He saw someone murder someone and drawn that man he saw that guy at his concert brought him backstage and had that man arrested, definitely an eerie song
I think some people forget that Phil wasn't just a drummer and exceptional musician but was regarded by many at the time as the best drummer on the planet. Add to that his success as a singer song writer and you get one of the most talented people on the planet.
Some people also forget that the reason he ended up in genesis is because he bottled an interview with Yes. Some people also forget that best drummer is like best guitarist... Hugely subjective: you can't test art.... "Writing about art is like dancing about architecture.".
Phil Collins’ “In the Air Tonight” is a hauntingly atmospheric masterpiece that captures raw emotion and suspense like few other songs can. Released in 1981 as the lead single from his debut solo album Face Value, the track has become a timeless classic, often associated with its dark mood and unforgettable drum break. The song’s sparse, eerie opening immediately sets a mysterious tone. Collins’ vocals are both restrained and powerful, building tension as the story unfolds. Lyrically, “In the Air Tonight” has an enigmatic quality, leaving listeners to interpret its meaning for themselves. This ambiguity has fueled countless theories, adding to the song’s mystique. Of course, the highlight of the track is the legendary drum fill that arrives just over three minutes in. It’s explosive and cathartic, perfectly punctuating the song’s emotional intensity. This moment has cemented “In the Air Tonight” as one of the most iconic tracks in rock history. The production is another standout element. Collins blends electronic and acoustic instruments seamlessly, creating a sound that feels timeless and innovative even decades later. The song’s minimalistic approach only enhances its dramatic impact. Overall, “In the Air Tonight” is more than just a song; it’s an experience. Its haunting atmosphere, emotional depth, and unforgettable percussion make it a piece of music that continues to resonate deeply with audiences around the world. A true testament to Phil Collins' genius as a musician and storyteller.
Imagine this, you're in 1981 and you just brought the Face Value. You never heard of any of its song before, you just liked Genesis and liked Phil. Then "in the air tonight" plays, its the first song of the album. Then 3:16 happens. That it bud. You just experienced peak pop music in the 1980's. Congrats.
I like to listen to this all alone at 2 am,light up a cigarette, look up at the stars and just think about life and how time is passing quick...damn man

Phil did an absolutely amazing job on this back in 1981 and there has been no stopping ever since then. I am in my 50s now, yet this song still brings all the same exact vibes as it did in my teens. It is pure sonic art 🎶 ❤
2 years ago today I had the privilege of seeing Phil in his Still Not Dead Yet tour in Dallas. His son played the drums during this song as Phil sat and belted out the tune. I've never seen so many simultaneous air drums during the most iconic part of this song. It was an amazing experience. I still get the goosebumps thinking back to that moment when this song is playing. This concert and getting to hear this song LIVE was one item checked off my bucket list!!! Thank you Phil for all of the awesome music!!!
@Michael Sargent--That must've been quite a sight to see. That has to be the most famous drum riff ever recorded! Who doesn't play the air drums when they listen to this iconic song?!
I was 14 years old, on a field trip to St. Louis, looking out the foggy window of an old school bus as it rained like cats and dogs while driving past the Gateway Arch...and then someone played this song. The world was so big back then. I'm decades older now...yet, this song never ages. Love one another.
@star mac that's lovely. How were you feeling? I am in Ireland and I go to St louis for first time in December this year . One my dreams is to see the blues play live haha 😄 maybe I am crazy but I can't wait to go...
It may sound corny or cringey but, for me personally, this was and will always be the sound of the night. Nothing can top the atmosphere and suspense this track packs. Masterpiece for the ages.

This isn't about you or your dad. Don't be such a selfish prick. It's about the music. So distasteful if you to try to steal the moment. Disgraceful!
I am not an 80s guy but I still love these 80s songs. They are so good.
I played GTA Vice City Stories in which Phil Collins was there and he really had a concert of this song in that game. I loved it. Most of the time I had found these wonderful 80s songs from video games and TV shows and films.
You don't get how awesome the 80's were. Yeah we didn't have Internet, but entertainment was to be had. Music, Movies, were all top notch.

@@stephanieredden8861 you're old btw if you didn't already know
I think this song hits everybody...if you really listen to the lyrics, it's not aiming to hit everybody, but the simple lyrics...we all feel it, coming in the air tonight...we've all been waiting for this moment for all our lives....this for me probably more than any other song defines the 80s.

I think some people forget that Phil wasn't just a drummer and exceptional musician but was regarded by many at the time as the best drummer on the planet. Add to that his success as a singer song writer and you get one of the most talented people on the planet.
