This tutorial saved me so much time. I remember in the past trying to figure out what codes might work with my tv and then having to type them in one at a time, possibly taking up to an hour to get it working properly. With this tutorial, I had my tv setup before the video ended! Thank you so much.
If you are like me and had problems with this. Hold set up, press TV. Press the power button once. And from here, u can push VOLUME UP to search each code INDIVIDUALLY incase your code is passed up by the automatic search. My code kept getting passed up when I tried automatic search, so I tried each code one by one this way. And I only had to do it once unlike the auto search.

once a compatible device code is found and the TV turns off, how does the remote know to stop scanning, so that I can store this very code, and not another that it has now tried to scan for ?
Hi @mrpentium. After the remote goes through the groups of 10 codes and the device turns off, that means it has narrowed down the device codes to your code being one of those 10. At that point, manually turn the device back on. With the remote pointed at the device, press and release the VOL+ button. The remote will then check the first code of those 10 codes. The red light will blink once and remain on. If your device turns off, then you've found the code for your device. To store that code, press and release the same device button you pressed in Step 3. If your device does not turn off, then press and release the VOL+ button to check the next code. Keep repeating this step until your device turns off, which means you've found a compatible code. Then, follow the steps I mentioned earlier to store the code. If you need additional assistance, please contact our U.S.-based Consumer Care at 1-800-654-8483, M-F, 7AM-8PM Central Time. Hi Brian. Great question! Yes. The remote's Code Identification feature lets you retrieve the 4-digit code used to program each of your device buttons. 1. Press and hold down the SETUP button until the red light turns on, then release it. The red light will remain on. 2. Press and release the device button for the code you seek. 3. Press and release ENTER. 4. Press and release #1 and count how many times the red light blinks. This is the first digit in your code. Repeat the process by pressing #2, #3 and #4 for the remaining digits. 5. Press and release ENTER to exit this mode. So I’m able to program my remote turn my tv on turn the volume up but once I hit my apps I can’t move the directional buttons or the ok button doesn’t work
Hi! If you're using a compatible streaming device, such as a Roku box, make sure you press the STR or STRM device button before trying to operate your streaming device with the remote. If you're using a smart TV with built-in streaming, you may be experiencing partial code functionality. Simply stated, your remote is using a code that only controls some of your device’s functions. Device manufacturers will reuse portions of their codes with alternate models, so there’s most likely another code stored in your remote that will provide better functionality. To locate it, try reprogramming the remote using direct code entry for each of the other codes for your TV as noted in the code list or try using the automatic code search method. Please note that some TV brands have a specific code for their Roku TV models. Here are some helpful programming links: Direct Code Entry- ruclips.net/video/aOORjDW4a-0/видео.html Online Code List for Direct Entry programming - byjasco.com/urccodes Auto Code Search - ruclips.net/video/Yk5UsXm9ouQ/видео.html If you need further assistance, please call our U.S.-based Consumer Care at 1-800-654-8483, M-F, 7AM-8PM, Central Time, and we'll be happy to troubleshoot the issue with you.
Hi Miguel. Thanks for reaching out. If you've already tried the Auto Code Search method, I recommend you try programming your remote using the Direct Code Entry method shown here (ruclips.net/video/aOORjDW4a-0/видео.html)? The device codes for your Apex TV can be found here: byjasco.com/support/resource-library/universal-remote-codes If you've tried both methods and it's still not operating your Apex TV, please call our U.S.-based Consumer Care at 1-800-654-8483, 7AM-8PM, M-F, Central Time, and they'll be happy to assist you.
This process worked perfectly for everything except for some reason the input button doesn’t work. All the other buttons function well but in order to change the input I have to manually press the button on the tv. When I press the button on the remote, the indicator light lights up and turns off like all the other buttons, but the tv never changes the input. Do I just need to keep repeating the process until it works?
Hi! Thanks for reaching out. It sounds like you may be experiencing partial code functionality with regard to programming the remote for use with your TV. Simply stated, your remote may be using a code that only controls some of your TV's functions. Device manufacturers will reuse portions of their codes with alternate models, so there’s most likely another code stored in your remote that will provide better functionality. Hi Johnnie! If you have a Roku streaming player (not a Roku Streaming Stick), then the STRM or STR device button on your GE remote is already programmed to operate your Roku box. If your remote doesn't have an STRM or STR device button, you can program any of the other device buttons to operate your Roku. If you have a Roku Streaming Stick, it uses radio frequency, which is not compatible with most universal remotes, which use infrared technology. In this case, you may want to check out this GE universal remote that includes a compartment on the back to hold your Roku Streaming Stick remote. This allows you to merge your universal remote with your streaming remote. When you're ready to stream, simply turn the remote over, and your Roku Streaming Stick remote is already in hand and available for use. You'll just want to make sure your Roku Streaming Stick remote is compatible for use with this GE remote. Compatible Roku remotes include: Express, Express+, Premiere, Premiere+, Streaming Stick and Streaming Stick+ models. Here's a link to the overview video and more information about this option. ruclips.net/video/AOHo6ej2Njs/видео.html If you have any additional questions, please give us a call at 1-800-654-8483, M-F, between 7AM-8PM, Central Time. Thanks!

Not working for Vizio TV ( old ) It is stuck in setup mode ( was this way before I got the remote ) Red light flashes instead of staying on, and then goes out after a second or two.

Hi, Jen. This typically means a code was found or the search reached the end of the group of 10 codes sent to the remote. Test the remote to determine if it operates your device. If it doesn't work, repeat the steps for the auto code search. You can also try the direct code entry method. The steps for direct code entry are at ruclips.net/video/aOORjDW4a-0/видео.html and the code list is at byjasco.com/universal-remote-codes. Our U.S.-based consumer care is also available at 1-800-654-8483, M-F, 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Central Time for additional assistance.
Well the list gives three codes for roku but none of them work for my roku. For one, it doesn't say WHICH device button should be pushed to set up a streaming device. I've tried: input, aud and dvd and none of those work, in conjunction with the roku codes to set up my roku 4k.
Thanks for contacting us! This universal remote uses an infrared signal to operate your AV devices and works with Roku Streaming Media Player boxes, but not Roku streaming sticks, which use radio frequency. If your Roku player is a box and not a stick, then I encourage you to call our U.S.-based Consumer Care team at 1-800-654-8483, M-F, 7AM-8PM, Central Time, and they will assist you further. If your Roku is a streaming stick and you still want to consolidate your remotes, then you may want to check out this Philips Companion Remote: ruclips.net/video/Fqv4IoO_hGE/видео.html It is a 4-device universal remote with a cradle on the back for your Roku streaming stick remote, so the two are merged into one. Use the remote side to operate your TV and other devices, and then simply flip it over to use the Roku remote. I have one and absolutely love it! You can find it at Target, Amazon and byjasco.com. If you choose to go this route, be sure to select the version for Roku (An Amazon Fire TV version is also available). You’ll also want to confirm compatibility for your specific Roku streaming stick. It works with Roku Express 4K (3940RW); Roku Express 4K+ (3941R); Roku Express (3700, 3900, 3930R); Roku Express+ (3710, 3910, 3931RW); Roku Premiere (3920, 3920R, 4620); Roku Premiere+ (3921RW); Roku Streaming Stick (3800); Roku Streaming Stick+ (3810, 3810R); Roku audio equipment (9030R2, 9101R, 9102R) and Roku replacement remotes (RC347, RC392, RC411). Regarding your question about which device button to use for programming a streaming player, you can use whichever one you’d like. While the TV device button is preprogrammed for use with Samsung TVs, all of the device buttons can be programmed to operate any of your compatible AV devices. I hope this information is helpful to you. As I mentioned before, if you have any additional questions, please give us a call. We’ll be happy to assist you.
Hi. If you've not already done so, please try programming your remote using the Direct Code Entry method shown here: ruclips.net/video/aOORjDW4a-0/видео.html. Also, when programming, make sure there's a direct line of sight between the remote's infrared signal and your device. If you no longer have the code list that came with your remote, you can look up the RCA codes online here: byjasco.com/universal-remote-codes. If the remote is still not connecting or if you would prefer we walk you through the programming process step by step, please give our U.S.-Based Consumer Care a call at 1-800-654-8483, M-F, 7AM-8PM Central Time, and we'll be happy to assist you.

it worked for the most part but the directional arrows don't function properly? the up arrow goes right, the down arrow goes left, and the actual left/right arrows dont do anything. i cant navigate menus because of this.
Hi! Thanks for reaching out. It's possible that the auto code search has not yet found the best code for your device. Therefore, I'd recommend you either continue on with the auto code search programming to find another code that works better, or use our online code list to find the codes for your device and use direct code entry programming. Hi. Thanks for reaching out. Please check to make sure you're close to your TV and pointing the remote at your TV when programming it.

If I successfully programmed my universal remote using the automatic setup feature, is there a way for me to then discover what the code actually is?

Here are some helpful programming links:

To locate it, try reprogramming the device using each of the other codes for your TV as noted in the code list or try going through the automatic code search process again. If this still doesn't work for you, please call our U.S.-based Consumer Care at 1-800-654-8483, 7AM-8PM, M-F, Central Time, so we can troubleshoot the matter with you over the phone. Thanks!

I did everything and it doesnt let me use the full remote just power and volume
Hi.
Thanks for reaching out. It sounds like you are experiencing partial code functionality. Simply stated, your remote is using a code that only controls some of your device’s functions. Device manufacturers will reuse portions of their codes with alternate models, so there’s most likely another code stored in your remote that will provide better functionality. Try reprogramming the device using the direct code entry method shown at the link below or continue on with the the automatic code search method to test other codes. I've also included a link to our online code list.

But what if my remote does not have an indicator light?
Hi.
The indicator light can either be a small light at the top of the remote or the power ON/OFF button. It sounds like your remote uses the power ON/OFF button for its indicator light.

How do I do this thing
Hi Jimena.
You may want to try programming your remote using the Direct Code Entry method shown here: ruclips.net/video/aOORjDW4a-0/видео.html. This is a much quicker way of programming the remote. If you no longer have the list of device codes that came with your remote and that are required for the Direct Code Entry Method, you can access them online here: www.byjasco.com/remotecodes.
If you'd prefer, we can walk you through the programming steps over the phone and would be happy to do so. Please call our U.S.-based Consumer Care at 1-800-654-8483 between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m., M-F, Central Time so we can help you get your remote set up and ready to go. Either way, we're here to help. Hello. This is the GE 6-Device Bluetooth Programmable Remote, model 42192. You can find it on Walmart's website. This Bluetooth-enabled universal remote gives you unmatched control. Simply download the user-friendly app to your smartphone and pair it with the remote. Through the app, you can easily program your universal remote for up to six devices, including your TV, Blu-ray player, streaming media player, cable, satellite, sound bar and more. And, when the remote goes missing, the app’s handy find-it feature can help you locate it if it's within range.

What if you have a Roku
Here's a link to the overview video and more information about this option. ruclips.net/video/AOHo6ej2Njs/видео.html

Not working for Vizio TV ( old ) It is stuck in setup mode ( was this way before I got the remote )
Red light flashes instead of staying on, and then goes out after a second or two.
Hi!
Thanks for reaching out. If you've not already done so, try resetting the remote to factory settings as follows:
1. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red POWER button light stays on, then release it. The red light will remain on.
2. Press and release the MUTE button.
3. Press and release 0 (zero). The red light will blink twice.
Once reset, you you may want to try the Direct Code Entry method of programming shown here: ruclips.net/video/aOORjDW4a-0/видео.html.
If your remote is still not operating properly, please call our U.S.-based Consumer Care at 1-800-654-8483, M-F, 7AM-8PM Central Time. They'll be happy to troubleshoot the issue with you.
When searching for the code. The light flashes a dim red light then nothing. The red light turns off. Then nothing. What does this mean?
If your Roku is a streaming stick and you still want to consolidate your remotes, then you may want to check out this Philips Companion Remote: ruclips.net/video/Fqv4IoO_hGE/видео.html
It is a 4-device universal remote with a cradle on the back for your Roku streaming stick remote, so the two are merged into one.
GE remote still won't connect to RCA tv any suggestions?
