- Ofer Cassif represents the Hadash Party in the Israeli Knesset and he has been openly calling Israel’s actions in Gaza a ‘genocide’.
In this extended interview, Cassif gives insights into the political climate inside Israeli society and the Israeli government. He speaks about the “subjugation” plan, a document put forth by far-right members of the Israeli government (who are now key figures in the leading coalition) which details how what he says is a plan to either ethnically cleanse greater Israel from Palestinians or have them continue living under an ever-increasing brutal occupation that makes life for Palestinians in the occupied territories unliveable.
Cassif also speaks about how Netanyahu is “terrified” about proceedings at the ICJ, how Israeli society is becoming increasingly polarised, how Israel has already moved towards a “fascist” reality and how the government is using October 7th to make Israel a fully fledged "autocratic state".
He also speaks about his early life and how his political views developed despite of the cultural climate in Israel where “brainwashing” was rampant.

The region of Palestine had been 'occupied' by the Ottoman Caliphate for 400 years. The Ottoman Empire LOST the war against the Allied Powers in 1918. The Arabs of Palestine fought with the Ottoman Turks, or stayed neutral. Wars have consequences and the *losers* of an aggressive war don't get to choose who ends up with what land. The Hejazi Arabs fought with the British, alongside Lawrence of Arabia, as did the Jewish Zionists. Both groups were rewarded for their sacrifices and their vital support.
The Hejazi Arabs were granted self-rule in 99% of the Ottoman Middle East land, much of it very rich in oil. Today these countries are known as Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and Jordan. Have you tried contacting the UN, ICJ, ICC to discuss your grave concerns? You might also contact Dr. Tayub Ali - a chief prosecutor ICJP located in the UK?
The worry is that the UN, ICJ, ICC appear to be toothless tigers. The US is a more influential power in this situation but continues to support Israel unconditionally - and vetoes in the UNSC proposals to constrain Israel. So the cry is - who on earth can stop this?

Please accept our email into the Official Record. As constituents in the Toronto-Danforth riding, we are also "horrified" and devastated by what happened in Rafah on Sunday night - an Israeli airstrike triggered a fire in a tent camp in the southern Gaza city that killed 45 Gazans and injured 250 people - many were severely burned. Despite the ICJ ruling on Friday that the offensive must stop, Israel is blatantly ignoring international law with horrifying consequences.
It is unacceptable for Canada to remain on the sidelines while Israel carries out daily massacres of Gaza's civilians. We are deeply concerned about the lack of action on an arms embargo against Israel, despite a motion that passed with a majority in the House of Commons in March, 2024. As Canadians, we condemn our government’s complicity in the atrocities the Israeli state is committing against innocent Palestinians. As our Liberal Member of Parliament, we are calling on you and your government to revoke all military export permits and impose a two-way arms embargo on Israel immediately.
We also ask that Canada agree to execute eventual arrest warrants should Prime Minister Netanyahu or Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant ever visit North America. If Canada respects the independence” of the ICC, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has a legal obligation to co-operate fully with ICC investigations and prosecutions in accordance with the Rome Statute, which is the basis of the ICC’s authority. (The ICC has made it clear member states like Canada, do not have discretion to “choose to co-operate with the Court … on the ground of a disagreement with the Court’s interpretation and application of the Statute.”)
How many more massacres in Gaza will the Liberal government tolerate before it acts on the ICC and ICJ's orders to arrest Netanyahu & Gallant and stop this genocide, as the body count soars to 36,000 dead Palestinians. It is absolutely shameful that Canada is not leading by example, as it did when defending the sovereignty of Ukrainians from Russian military aggression. There cannot be two extremes to justice - hiding behind the criminality of Israeli apartheid only implicates Canada further in those crimes.Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter and we await your response.
