Oh my fucking god... Yoko Shimomura made my favorite song in Bowser's Inside Story even BETTER than how it sounded in the original. The original song had some suspense in it, fitting how Peach's Castle was the final dungeon. But here, she took those emotions and magnified it by about a hundred times. Now it's just plain creepy and unsettling...and I LOVE it! Yoko Shimomura never disappoints.

This literally screams how you are nearing the finale, this is it, we almost made it, we got this! Seeing how much the castle changed is amazing, I just wish the Fawful statues weren't covering the back of the castle because I always wanted to go back there as Mario & Luigi, lol.

This song weirdly left an impact on me. I remember playing this game when I was younger and thinking “Oh I’m getting closer to the final boss” not thinking much of it, then entering the castle with this song playing. I just stopped and listened for minutes. I don’t know what it is about this song wether it’s beautiful, full of tension or scary but all I know is that they did this theme justice
What makes this song in my opinion so good is that in this game, it’s not bowsers castle your trying to reclaim, it’s peaches castle, and the aura and feel of the castle really gives it that mysterious feeling and the fact you’ve not been there for a long time
I like to think back to the contrast between this game’s third act and it’s first one when listening to this. The intro to this game never lets on how dark it will get!
This one hits an odd nerve for me… it’s like there’s another unheard instrument, an emotional one (playing at the same time as the harpsichord), that makes this song even better.
Copy pasting my own comment from a video of this song that got taken down. Peach's(Fawful's?) Castle is legitimately unsettling in this. The change in atmosphere is really emphasized. The place doesn't look like just a mostly rundown version of Peach's Castle anymore, it's twisted, altered, imbued with evil and strange machinery that hums and whirs and everything feels unnatural. I actually forgot what this place looked like and when I got to the castle in the remake, I knew something seemed different and couldn't put my finger on it. It only made progressing through it all the more unsettling
Throughout the entirety of the games, Peach's castle (the present version) was always the safe spot. It was here where the Princess, her toads and the brothers convened and brought peace and prosperity to the Kingdom. Not only was it the Centerpiece of the Mushroom Kingdom, it represented hope and the promise that tomorrow, everything will be better. But this song bro...Fawful and the Dark Star have taken the one place that was the epitome of hope and turned it into the centerpiece of their kingdom of despair and the song echos it so well. It tells me: "I need not kill your kingdom. It knows not, but it is slowly dying..."
I love partners in time as much as the next guy but I see no reason why they would go back to it when they skipped to bowsers inside story. And I would rather have a new groundbreaking mario and luigi game on switch instead of 3 remakes in a row.
I personally think that maybe they should remake it as they can maybe remake it with the main bros attack system with BP instead of having a limited amount of the attack. Plus I'd love to hear how they remake the final boss theme for the battle against elder princess shroob
I completely agree; some people say it takes out the compression of the DS version, but in my opinion, they dumbed down the more intense songs that could’ve been even better sounding if they had just copied it exactly (final boss theme imo)
