I remember that episode. His character did come off a little strange and I can understand how it would freak out the locals. Lol.
Growing up in the rural Midwest our local paper had a social section. Who your neighbors had over for Sunday dinner, vacations ,family visits. Hospital stays. Just a couple days ago I looked up the newspaper clipping from 77 on my grandfather's 90th birthday dinner.
That's a neato feature! I found a photo of my mom in The Windsor Star circa 1930ish! She looked about 2 years old, with her cute little doggie too! To put it into perspective, it was 2023 when I discovered the photo, and my mom passed away in the year 2000.

Earlier this week, I saw William Lanteau in an episode of Good Times, and I recognized him from Newhart. I had a feeling he'd been on TAGS, but couldn't remember which episode he was in.

More than 40 years ago, ( there was a book, magazine shop in my hometown) where you could buy
out of town newspapers.
I went there, and bought a newspaper, for the area, in which, I have spent most of my adult life

Every time I watch this episode, for how much the "Stranger In Mayberry" loved the people of Mayberry, he had all 8 seasons to come back and love everybody but never showed his face again. Is that how much he loved Mayberry? 🤔🤔🤔

My comment has nothing to do with the video. I know people who made fun of how Barney sounded dumb at the Esquire Club. Now, he didn’t know about golfing obviously. It appears he didn’t know about the desert by the looks given “Baked Alaska”. In all honesty, he was actually kind of right. It was named for when Alaska became part of the United States in the 1800’s. 👍❤
The main thing i remember about the "stranger" was his uneven ears.
