Used to make calls to Northern suppliers in a previous job. The people on the other end would go on about my southern accent. I wore it as a badge of honor 😊
John, Just want to tell you, whenever I have had phone contact with Southerners they have been some of the warmest, friendliest and most helpful folks. My wife has Southern roots, this ex-Southern Californian loves and appreciates y'all! Blsgs, gg
Doesn’t surprise me at all , Thanks Bob
It's easy to watch the Andy Griffith Show and think of it in terms of the 1960s. After all, the patrol car was a late model Ford Galaxie sedan (donated each year by a local Ford dealership). But, Mayberry was actually modeled after a southern town in the 1940s, most likely Mount Airy, North Carolina.
Andy himself said the show was about bringing back their memories of growing up in the 30's and 40's. He always thought it was funny that people associated it with their own yrs of growing up in the 60's.
I for one appreciated the video.
Well, I'll be dogged
I can't believe people in Hollywood think people anywhere can't related to people all over the country. And I even enjoy British TV 📺 shows. They give us no credit. 😖
Hollywood bubble.
They are elitist snobs.
Love this show .shared
Andy was a hippest hillbilly he played andy taylor very well I ❤️ love the andy griffith show I would love to live in a nice small town like mayberry I like your videos bob
Me too 😊
Your videos are always enlightening and entertaining! Thanks Bob!
I live in Don Knotts hometown, Morgantown WV. Very proud of our heritage and accent. Barney Fife is THE Greatest ! Morgantown Bob😀
In the Danny Thomas Show skit which kickstarted the AGS Andy was way too hillbilly. He had to tone it down quite a bit.
I was going to say about the same thing. Even when TAGS first aired, he had a southern accent that pretty much went anyway after awhile.
Well, I'll be dogged !
Interesting video. Thank you Bob. Andy was a talented actor. He was very good with music. Praying for you Melanie 🙏.
During the 80s TV Guide did an article about how Southerners got portrayed on TV. It mentioned shows like Dallas, The Dukes of Hazzard, even The Waltons. Sadly, TV doesn't have the greatest reputation for its treatment of certain areas. Yet there are still things we have in common.
Hillbilly is a term that can be either an insult or compliment. We still watch TAGS for a number of reasons. The people are very relatable. That includes the so-called nuts. TV has done a lot to decrease the use of accents. Hopefully some will stay true to their roots.
After tags he played some intense bad guys my favorites were pray for the wildcats with William shatner and murder in coweta county with Johnny Cash he could play heel as good as anyone
Huh. I did not know that.
🤓😎✌🏼
From one hillbilly to another……thanks Bob 🙋♂️🙏
I guess that’s why I’ve been a TAGS fan since I was like 12.. cuz Andy’s the hippest hillbilly. Lol 👍🏼
❤❤
I may be in the minority but wish Griffith hadn't toned down the southern accents and ways of the 1st season. I loved it. I already 10 4d ya
This was a nice video. Thank you for sharing!
❤❤❤😮😮😮😊😊😊
Great video. Thanks!
Vitajex !
Thank you for the video and I agree with what you said. :)
Thanks Bob for this AGS F & T segment. That was a great description for AG at the time it was being shown weekly to us on television. Of course I might have used that description describing Andy Taylor.
