To anyone who is facing an issue with there component placement make sure that it is Shared, always vertical is ticked off and it is a workplane-based family.
Thank you so much! I wasted 15min of my life so I could earn hours of work XD of course I used your tutorial with something else and in a different way. Same idea thou. Thanks again!!
Hi RV boost, love the vid, but I have a similar problem to others in the comments. When I place the family on the second reference point, I am not given an option to host it on a ref plane as shown in the video. The option simply isn't there.
Hi, you can try this to make the family workplane based: knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2021/ENU/Revit-Customize/files/GUID-70F24230-D596-4AA3-A425-91B1E560BC53-htm.html
Great tuto but may i ask a question. For the adaptive chair, why do you use two points (an adaptive and a reference) one over the other. Wouldn't it work only with the adaptive alone?
@@RVBoost I can't get the rotation to work. I've made it Work Plane Based and shared, as per the comment above, and it'll move with the point, but it won't adopt it's rotation.
Tried the curved based family on an imported 2D Cad file----but the repeat option is not clickable. I hope there's an another way around to solve this. Thank you!
Hello Sr. Great tutorial there! I’m working on a theater design right now and is there anyway you can share the adaptive curved family? I’ve tried it only succeed in the first family, for the second one, I don’t know what I’m doing wrong but I just can’t get the chair to rotate along with the second based point, I’ve tried different chair families but still the same.
Thanks for the kind words, Parson! Please try to follow the tutorial exactly to the seconds to make sure that chair can rotate. Unfortunately, it's been a while since I did this tutorial so I can't seem to find the family files now... My colleagues however did put them on our shop page. It's here if you need it: rv-boost.com/product/line-based-and-arc-based-auditorium-chairs/
It was a generic model family if I remember correctly. Anything not face-based/wall-bases/floor-based should work. We just need the item to be able to move freely.
I don't know what the problem is, but i followed all the steps you presented but still couldn't rotate the chair. it's really frustrating..... i placed the chair exactly on the point and it refused to rotate 😡😥😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
i think i got it. I changed the reference points to match a "start, end radius" like arc and shortened the span of the arc! Thank you! These are the best revit videos on youtube!
Hi, please make sure you place that chair on the 2nd reference point in the family. In the video, I showed how to place this 2nd point and use it Rotation parameter.

i almost cried, thank you...

As a beginner this curve based chair is not easy. But i will try.
I believe in you!
@@RVBoost after a ton of mistakes and repeats. i did it! thanks.
Amazing 😍

We actually need that second point to add a rotation parameter :) Please see it created at 7:30 and then used at 8:40!

awesome, This is really handy in arranging auditorium chairs :D, thanks so much
Excellent! Glad you liked it 😎
hi, very nice and informative video... just want to know... will this method work with a spline??? thank you
Yes it should! Simply use a spline instead of an arc :)
@@RVBoost thank you bro.. you are very helpful ^^
@@vrbaac1641 No worries! Glad you found it useful :)

Truly fantastic! Thank you.
You're very welcome!
Does it matter what type of family we use for the component we load into the adaptive points family? What type of family was the chair that you used?
It was a generic model family if I remember correctly. Anything not face-based/wall-bases/floor-based should work. We just need the item to be able to move freely.
Awsome tutorial
Thank you! Happy Revit-ing 😁

Sometimes we need more than just the placement point. Things like setting the active workplace are also important 🙂
Same identic problem, have you resolved?
Wonderful!
Thanks!!
Can't find the "Placement" tab anywhere. The one in between Mode and Family editor under "Modify | Place Component"
If that tab shows in the video then you've probably missed a step somewhere. Please revisit the whole video...
you have to go into family category and parameters (left right corner ) and mark " set on workplane " first in a row .
Thank you sir...its really useful tutorial...moreover thanks for considered my comments sir
My pleasure! Just let me know here if you have more questions 😁
Thank you very much
Glad I could help ☺️
8:50 mine doesn't rotate when i change the parameter... help?
Did you set the work plane and then place the item on that work plane as shown in the video?
@@RVBoost yes i did it exactly the same
i did exactly everything step by steb , same . Chair does not rotate ( spent whole day doing this ) i did it super slow too but no result .
Great thank a lot
Glad you liked it!!
My radius' makes for a lopsided arc. Any suggestions? I would like them to be as symmetrical as possible.
i think i got it. I changed the reference points to match a "start, end radius" like arc and shortened the span of the arc! Thank you! These are the best revit videos on youtube!
Glad you liked my videos 😊 Also, well done figuring out how to make the arc work!!
Hi, how come when I place a chair Breuer (ootb) onto the reference point, the chair does not rotate?
Hi, please make sure you place that chair on the 2nd reference point in the family. In the video, I showed how to place this 2nd point and use it Rotation parameter.
@@RVBoost Hi , i did exactly the same but it is not working . problem its not showing to place on work plane while i try to place the chair
Sounds like the chair family is wrong then. Have you set it to be based on a workplane in the family editor.
@@khanto3756Go back to the main chair family editor and change or set the family to work plane-based
i tried this but it didnt work out, the Rotation Angle parameter idnt work. i dont know why?!
You need to host the chair on the adaptive point exactly as I showed in the video. Please watch and follow it again.
tried many times but chair won't rotate, please help!
You can download the completed family to take a look? (Link is in the description)
