Thank you! I was having a problem with a glass railing and this solved the problem. I had to apply the material for the panel and column and I could not do that in the line-based family so I had to do it all over again - but I solved it.

While we are on the Subject i was trying to do Roofing using Line method instead of using Adaptive Panel. The reason is i want to pull the length, and All my "IBR Corugated Zink Panels" Should be able to fit end to end on Top of a Roof wall. 4.1 How Do i select and chop off access panels protruding or How do i make it that you get half of the panel. i asked this question on your Adaptive example but you did not understand what i wanted to do.

Yes, you can. You need to do this: Create a new general model family, in the plan view, add an reference line from the centre, align and lock the end of the reference line onto both reference plane, add an angular dimension between one of the reference plane and the reference line, create an angle parameter. Open the post family, uncheck the Always Vertical option in the Properties, and check Work-Plan Based, load this post into the new family with the angle parameter, use Place on Work Plan option, and place it onto the horizontal work plane of the reference line, move it so it sit right on the end point. Then load this new family into the line-based family and replace the previous points, create and associate a new angle parameter. If i were to load in lets say a structural framing family and another different type of family and combine them into this line type family ...would i be able to array them together?
Yes you can. The differences are: 1. To place an Line-based family, you need to click twice to define the length. If it is a normal generic model, you only need to click once and adjust the length after. 2. Line-based family is basically a face-based family, you can place it on both work planes and any flat faces. Normal generic model can be used similar to a face-based family, the only thing you need to do is to check the Work-plane Based option and uncheck the Always Vertical in Family Category and Parameters. 3. Of course, some of the stuff only work on Line-based families, such as Split, Trim, Extend etc. similar to Lines.

line based look much easier.
I will probably use railing first because it is easy to get some basic dimensions, then Model in place when it becomes too hard to adjust.
