    The departures of Koulibaly, Insigne and Mertens had a lot of people thinking it was the begging of the end for Napoli. After an impressive third place finish last season, it looked as if that was bound to be their best finish for the next few seasons. But one of the most underrated and cheap transfer window has seen all these players be replaced by arguably much more dynamic team players, with Kvaratshkelia, Min Jae Kim and Anguissa have completely revolutionised napoli. In today’s video we’re going to be taking a look at the tactics behind their incredible start to the seaons, and how Luciano spalletti has transformed Napoli into one of the best teams in Europe.
    Napoli’s incredible start to the season is reflected in the statistics, Currently top of the serie a, and finishing first in the champions league group stages. But not only that, they’ve scored more than any other team in both of these competitions, while also averaging the highest expected goals and the most amount of shots than any other team in the league.

    The 2-2-1-5(flexible 5) shape in the attacking third is so innovative and out of the box. Spalletti proves the school of thought right; that tactics can take any form, shape, execution, etc.
    I also have to applaud the defensive press/hold of the central 5(2 CB & 3 MF).
    Spalletti is not trying to use overloads which is too much detail nor counter pressing which uses strength, will power, and awareness nor is he trying to use positional play which needs a lot of practice.
    Just stay in your wing/position/role and do your job, with minor iterations.
    This is simplicity at its best. Spalletti is an underrated manager and I think he's been overlooked, he had the brains to use Totti as a false 9 way before Pep. I'm really interested in his past works now.
    Thanks Football Meta.

    The defensive work of Lozano is worth highlighting. Both Politano and Lozano are instructed to make more defensive work than Kvaratskhelia on the left side, which has made K to shine. However, Lozano in particular makes tremendous defensive coverage, which he learned from Gattuso. Both Politano and Lozano have less offensive influence because of that but they give the team more balance in the transitions. Totally underrated this season but they are key to the system. Also worth noting that with Kvaratskhelia injuried, Lozano has more offensive responsibility because Elmas on the left is a more balanced player than Kvaratskhelia and the right side has shined more (just look at Lozano's performance in the last matches).

    • @roberto-maddaloni
      @roberto-maddaloni Год назад +10

      As Neapolitan and long-term Napoli fan, I wholeheartedly disagree. Lozano is probably the worst at defending in the entire team. Kvara defends as much as Lozano and doesn’t cause as many fouls as Hirving. When Lozano „defends“ he usually fouls, cause he’s not that good at it.

    • @brokenocci
      @brokenocci Год назад +1

      @@roberto-maddaloni vero solo al 50%, Lozano è meno capace di Politano nella fase difensiva però sta dimostrando che può farlo. Il fallo non è negativo visto che viene in seguito ad una chiusura di Lozano decisa e decisiva, spesso in contropiede degli avversari. Questo odio immotivato su Lozano non lo capisco visto che ha avuto più alti che bassi.

    • @gomerudo
      @gomerudo Год назад +3

      @@roberto-maddaloni I do agree with you in that Lozano fouls more. I should have been more precise tho. I think Lozano has a better transition to defensive formation, filling in the spaces and getting into the first half of the pitch to outnumber the other team. Kavaratskhelia doesn’t not leave his spot that much, Elmas does a little bit more. Also, not a complaint against Kava, I think it is important he doesn’t leave his spot.

    What about Lobotka? With highest pass rate in the league still playing much more forward passes? He is the key to break down defence when moment is right.. super game awareness from him. Playing up when possible but not over doing it making 90+% accuracy of passes

    Little update 2 months later. Napoli Is dominating Serie A even more, with 13 points of advantage from the second team. It's the first defense too, now.
    As a neapolitan, I am always astonished by the magic of this team. We don't win a lot, in fact the other teams uses It to joke with us, but every time we win, we do It Great. 2 scudetti with one of the best players ever (the best for me), one historical win at UEFA Europa League against Stuttgart (fun fact, a neapolitan king was from that part of Germany) and now this record breaker. I really hope we continue this way, cause we are great to celebrate our victories too

    I've been following the Serie A for as long as I can remember. I think it's unlikely that Napoli will win the scudetto, but for the first time since I started watching football it's not impossible. Inter and Juventus are in shaky form, Milan is not as flawless as Napoli. This Napoli is stronger than Sarri's Napoli of 2018 and even though I still think that the title will go to one of "the big three", they do actually have a chance of winning it. Especially given that half of their core players will not be playing at the world cup - therefore they won't be tired after the tournament and they won't pick up injuries.

      I also agree with you. Freiburg, Benfica, Union Berlin, Betis have been having some good 2 years or thereabout. I'd love materials on these clubs because I like the game as a whole and too much concentration on the elite clubs bore me, I just think we do an injustice to coaches and teams who pull their weight in the grand scheme of things.

      @@gabrielalohan728you're right. Main media talk about the same 12 or 15 clubs, because of they have many supporters.
      The clubs you named deserve more attentions, stats and study bacause of their innovations and idea on the pitch, and not just for that: but it could be a good starting if Sport TV all around Europe would do that.

    whoever has seen Napoli vs Empoli will realize that Politano only enters to wear down the rival so that Lozano enters and breaks with his speed for me Politano only entered because he is one of the Italians in the team the most lethal attack is KVARA OSHIMEN AND LOZANO LIKES WHO LIKES IT

    • @deggudakosan4819
      @deggudakosan4819 Год назад +1

      No Napoli fan will ever say that, as now Politano has been a lot more constant than Lozano. They switch everytime with who started. In the Roma match Lozano started and was really bad than Politano entered and with more freshness decided the match with his assist for Osimhen. It's normal to change the wingers since they are the players that run more.
