I REAALLLLY hope that’s how the avelias gonna run permanently, if not better. Holy crap that actually is starting to get into European high speed range
Kinda but not close to Japan's high speeds 😅 they are years ahead we need to redo this whole country and add so many more areas of high speed trains like they did years ago and it's so beautiful
not too much difference in the realm of things...with all the slowdowns, stops and delays on the corridor. But man, that Acela II is a true bullet train.
I used to have to depend on the NE Regional going back and forth between Northampton, MA (where I lived after graduating from the Five Colleges) to New Haven, CT back in 1997/1998 (where I was doing my "pre grad school" programs at Yale) & this was in the "pre-Acela" Amtrak days. In fact, they were just STARTING to test the Bombardier trainsets for Acela. I always appreciated that NE Regional went fairly fast, and that it was faster than if I'd drive from Northampton to New Haven. I-91 is KNOWN for it's congestion. Once I was in my first year of grad school at Yale though (1999/2000) Acela changed EVERYTHING! No more NE Regional or Metro North for me. 😆
@@MrRailfanner206 165 is the (advertised) top speed, not the average speed so what if it goes kinda quick for a few minutes, if the rest of the ride its going slow and is plagued by poor maintenance among other things, it doesnt really matter and 160 isnt even too fast… italys trains go 190, spain 193, france 200, japan 200, korea 190 its pretty pathetic with countries with economies as small as italy have dedicated high speed rail that has both higher top speeds and higher average speeds than the usa trains, instead of building dedicated lines congress buys fancy new trains to hide the fact that their 100+ year old infrastructure is rotting away
@@MrRailfanner206 well clearly there was no problem building highways right through the downtowns of cities, why didnt they build new track too? also all of the countries i listed before have cities founded 1000 years before america was discovered, yet they all have high speed rail running to the centre of their cities
I like that the NE Regional isn't going as fast as the Acela but it's still going pretty fast.
125 for the NE Regional vs 165 for the Acela.
wow, that honking and the way it swooshed was lovely!
The avelia liberty sounded like a jet when zooming by.
That thing was going like 40 mph faster than the regional, but wow nice catch
The NER was doing 125MPH meanwhile the Avila is doing 165MPH!

The horn sounds better the faster it goes
The horn was from Siemens ACS-64
What an absolutely magnificent catch.
Wow! Now that's how to 'Swoosh!"
Amtrak's finest.

They were racing to see who gets the Pizza rolls.
New Acela : I Want Pizza Rolls First
Amtrak : YOU SICK BASTARD THEY MINE
Awesome timing on that one - great footage!
That's insane!

The new one sounds like a jet like whoosh!
It will be much awesome if we see our USA bullet trains racing each other the new Amtrak Acela and the old Amtrak Acela 🇺🇸✌️😛🎉🚄🚅💨💨💨💨
Acs64: I bet I’m faster!

I never thought I’d see the day where I watch a train moving 125 mph get completely smoked
Cool
Crazy catch!
Looking good!

mainly don't go that fast because south of New York the nec was built between the late 1800s and early 1900s
