A fast paced, light-hearted glimpse of life aboard a U.S. Navy nuclear-powered submarine as a Navy Officer walks you through and shows you where submariners eat, sleep, play and work.
+M Black cool and thanks I'm going to college out of high school to study nuclear engineering to join the Navy Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate (NUPOC) program. Then I'll enlist to try to become an officer
I really have FULL respect for these submariners. I was stationed on USCG ships before and I absolutely LOVE being out in the sea, so I couldn't see myself in a submarine.
I was a bubblehead for 7 years and was a IC2 (ss) and spent most of my time on boomers 1 patrol on a fast accack . 1st sleeping sucks if you are e-3 or beloy you pick where to sleep by rank most lower ranks sleep by hotracking or sleep near the stairs . 2nd you have to wait in long line to wait for food. 3rd It sucks until you are fully qualifed on subs and your duty station . 4th boomers go out 3 months and in for 2.5 months . i went around the world and life was great once I was E5
this man is awesome and I found this awesome video never thought I see this about inside the submarine not sure about ships am sure its different, I am civilian I worked on a cruise line with passengers so crew quarters were narrow like this and bed was narrow too but that's life at sea I wonder if there are civilians working onboard navy ships and submarines preparing food for them in foodservice or in general something other than that?
All you have to do is tell your recruiters you want to volunteer for submarine service and you will be pretty much granted to be on one. That's what my recruiter told me anyway and he's been a recruiter for over 9 years.
@ismellleaksmoke If you ever get stationed on a submarine, you sleep on the torpedoes until you earn a bunk. Then you get whatever the first classes didn't take.
Sorta liked it. We couldve been shown more w/o any security issues, but, it is what it is. What absolutely gobsmacked me, was his saying g'bye, and turning away, and walking off. In my day, when we had Visit Ship honors, we were in charge of our group, usually 4-10max, but that many was rare. Anyway, when it was time to depart, they were escorted from the ship, to the pier. This JO left these poor people alone, to figure out how to get to the top side ladder, that they came down on, and make their way across the brow, to the pier. While this may have been "In The Script", and there may have been someone who they were handed off to, it surely gave an unprofessional appearance, and left a hole as Big As Texas wrt security of the sub. Perhaps that Career JG shouldve had a set of orders cut to go TAD with the Zoomies in Alaska. Ok, Im finished with my rant. Y'all take care and be good to each other. And God Bless Texas, USS too, and the USA! Oh! BTW...I had a submariner friend I was on Recruiting Duty with. He told us one time there are only two things in the ocean... The Sub....... and Targets..
Phil Tran there is one for executive and commanding officer, one for junior officers, one for chiefs, one for first class petty officers all have one shower one toilet (JO head also has a urinal), and a head for the second class petty officers and below with two showers a urinal and three toilets. five total on a 688i Los Angeles
lol They didn't even show half of the boat. @ ncrdisabled, I wouldn't say that things get any better once you are fully qualified (or stop "sucking"), they just get different lol.
I just found out that i infact dont like small tight spaces and lots of people. How on earth do these guys not getting depressing living in these conditions wow.
Non qual, no dolphins. LTJG vs LT? The word submariner is pronounced SUB MA REENER, not SUB MARE ENER. A SUB mare ener indicates somethin below a Mariner. Even on the old diesels there were at least 3 heads(toilets). One in the forward torpedo room. One in the forward battery compartment, and one in the after torpedo room. The crew size was about 75/80, 23 years of boat life and I wish I could do it again, but they don't take 82 year old Sub ma reeners. One who served on submarines. It is called a boat, not a warship. How things have changed!
I see that EEO and Affirmative Action is alive and well in the Submarine Service. This puts our nation at risk, because the best MAN no longer gets the position/promotion.
+papawx3 Having served with LTJG Lindsay I can attest that he is one of the best men you will ever find to serve onboard a boat. There is no EEO or Affirmative Action in the Submarine Service. On the boat everyone is required to tow the line. LTJG Lindsay worked hard to qualify in submarines and as a diver in the United States Navy and that hard work is what separates the submarine fleet of the United States Navy from other nations. It is because of men like him and the rest of that fine crew of the USS Texas SSN 775 that ensures the nation is not at risk. Lindsay was a member of the crew, a fine officer, a hard worker, an intelligent nuclear engineer, a warrior poet and I am proud to call him a brother of the fin. There is no race or ethnicity in the Submarine Service. You are either Qualified or you are not.
You are either delusional, or a lying SOB. Of course there IS EEO/Affirmative Action in The Silent Service. You know how I know? I WAS THERE. I watched in Sub school how they endlessly recycled "minorities" through over and over, and were finally passed through. I know for certain many did not pass the tests, because I personally saw instructors changing answers on the tests {August-October, 1979.}. They were told to do it by their superiors because too few were making the cut, and certain Congressmen were raising hell about it. So don't tell me I didn't see what I saw with my own eyes! I'm not saying they don't work hard once they are there, what I am saying is that there are two different sets of rules. One gets there because they belong, another gets there because vested interest makes sure they do, TAKE YOUR BS SOMEWHERE ELSE.
Doesn't matter. Doesn't change the fact that the nation's safety is being sacrificed on the altar of political correctness. Better hope those "smart weapons" work, because if it ever comes down to the men/women having to use their brains, were screwed!
Cannot believe that an officer of the US Navy still hasn't learnt to speak properly. Not a tone of professionalism in his voice, still sounds as if he is in the ghetto. PS. Speaking from experience, compared to Aussie Navy the US Navys food is crap.
When they were in the chow hall I loved the dead look in one of the guys eyes. Couldn't stop from laughing.
+M Black were do the officers eat
+M Black cool and thanks I'm going to college out of high school to study nuclear engineering to join the Navy Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate (NUPOC) program. Then I'll enlist to try to become an officer
+M Black I'll look into thanks
+M Black but do you have any nrotc colleges to recommend
Gary the Dolphin impossible? ever hear of a mustang?..

GREAT! As the proud parents of a submariner we LOVE these videos. Thank you.
Hats off to those guys!!! That video made me claustrophobic.
The cactus atop the soft-server looks friendly and kissable. In a collision or quick dive it will become a dangerous projectile.
This guy is awesome!
Good seeing what CSs do. With gratitude to all submariners for their service to our country.
It is a Virgina-class attack submarine!
Seawolfs are better
I was a Junior Officer aboard the SSBN598 USS GEORGE WASHINGTON. The enlisted berthing is better than we had it in the wardroom. Great presentation.
1/2 of this video talked about food...... AWESOME!
Liked the baby music when he was showing the sleeping area, very funny!
mighty mighty mr. lindsay :) nicely done
They have that look on their face that says ' I want to GTFO!'
Good speaker,
good tour,
good video.
They all seemed annoyed by this guy.

These guys are looking at him like he is an alien...what enjoyment?
I enjoyed the tour sir, thank you!
ET1 Valdez, served with him on the ssn 699. also served with that ST2 razo guy.
Go Navy!
Lol gotta love the acoustic electric piano italian thing going for the lazagna.
you guys deserve the best food possible!
💪💪
holy crap! waaaaay more space on the Virginia's than the LA's, makes me jealous
can't wait to get to a sub.. so much training and time between now and then
GPowtlaw2 how do you like it
I was a reactor operator on the previous USS Texas CGN 39. We had a bit more space and could see the sky.
there's sailors, and then there's submariners. They are apart of a different navy, takes a lot of mental fortitude to be one.
No that one head is for the 15 or so officers onboard. Their are 2 larger heads for the enlisted (on a 688 class).
Awesome a great show very well done guys...luxembourg 100 points lol

0:30 god that looks good
well done Lt.

Does anyone else love the skeptical look on Petty Officer Rayes' face as LTJG Lindsay is talking about the engine room (@3:30)?
Wardroom? Nah, peeps will be chillin' in the Enlisted Berthing.
@ismellleaksmoke If you ever get stationed on a submarine, you sleep on the torpedoes until you earn a bunk. Then you get whatever the first classes didn't take.
Did he say Lieutenant? Those look like Ensign bar to me.
As I recall: SSN = Saturdays, Sundays, and Nights. DBF folks.
The LT. IS RIGHT AT THE PINNACLE OF THE HEIGHT REQUIRMENTS FOR A SUB.
Shocked that the nub could keep a straight face for most of that.

The Sub....... and Targets..
That's correct. You do have to meet the physical and health requirements.
THANK YOU VERY NICE TO SEE YOUR LIVING WELL
Yeah. Everybody looks so happy.😳😂
"Bug juice" -- Crystal Lite, I think. Used to be Koolaid.
If you know how too eat and dance you can join the navy!
How do they keep the fruit fresh?
Can you workout on a sub?
Shipping out on Oct 20, and just signed a Nuclear Field contract, I would love to be part of a sub!
Cool, I leave Sep. 30 and I got nuke too and I also volunteered for a sub.
Maybe i'll see you aboard the fleet!
Same here! I ship out January 13th on a nuke contract!
Thanks USN I've been trying to find a tour video of a sub for a long time, BTW is the USS Texas a Virginia class sub?
Do a tour of aircraft Carrier
Wrong, you are only restricted from taking it to specific areas
If I ever get stationed on a Submarine, I call bottom bunk!!
word. He also has no "dolphins"
this was the worst tour of a submarine you could possibly give.
thanks for showing me an ice cream dispenser, and a bed...
Zach Denney Things stay classified for a reason. You'll have to join to find out ;)
+America's Navy Wow I didn't know they reply
+Geezordelso 1 Yeah I thought they replied to only questions not comments
All the USA does is eat, sleep, get fat and pick on Russia or North Korea
@@kfcturbo and all russia and north korea do is starve and jail innocents....
the navy is like 5 star hotel no wait 10
How many bathrooms are on the sub? I heard him say 1, but there's gotta be more for a 100+ crew!

GO US NAVY!!!
How?
How useful are those flat screens when you’re 2000 feet below the ocean
They can show movies. So very useful.
Gotta love the iphone! Ya know your not allowed anything with a camera on board.
The guy must be new, because he's calling it a warship..
lol, this is hilarious on so many levels.
Where does the waste and TRASH GO?
Thats me fixing the light and looking all bored around 3:15.
1:37 He had bad lasagna...
whoo...Texas
lol They didn't even show half of the boat. @ ncrdisabled, I wouldn't say that things get any better once you are fully qualified (or stop "sucking"), they just get different lol.
@MultiCfresh- yeah, it means you won't be a submariner.

Hunter killer.⚓
Lt huh.. I see a LTJG..
Addressed as, "Lieutenant." Moron. Back in the day, as, "Mister."
some of the people look so happy./sarcasm
Can enlisted work on submarines?
yes
Who do you think does all the actual work and get dirty instead of polishing their medals and making promotional videos?
Is there Wifi ?

1 head for 13 officers? Damn being a JO sucks.
Guess they let nubs give tours on the texas lol
lobster all my ass spaghetti and lasagna all day long
I notice he's not wearing dolphins. Shouldn't this nub LTJG be studying instead of making RUclips videos?
I respect what they do, but too claustrophobic for me!!
He does not SOUND like a JG to me.
Is a non-qual giving the tour? Lmao, I was damn glad when I finally got my dolphins...
No urinal in the Office's Head? Deference to women serving? lol
