300km from Hangzhou to Nanjing..... in similar distance from Copenhagen, you have Hamburg, Gethenburg, Szczecin.... i'm sure those people and their cultures are different from the Danes... so whenever you cross another Chinese province, the culture, habits, foods etc are bit different... that's why China by itself is very diverse even if you discount 55 other minorities... plus China has over 3x more people than whole EU combined
I visited Nanjing and Hangzhou this Christmas break going back home. 12/30-1/4. I totally agree with your comparison about this cool and sweet difference. Seems to me Hangzhou is more international while Nanjing has more of a historical influence.
Absolutely enjoying your videos. Such a wonderful couple. You come across so open and honest with each other. BTW both of you has an American accent. How did that happen?
Oh, haha, i found you guys both in new haircut. Look like you are preparing for Lunar New Year. I had my haircut last week too.BTW, like the feelings and ideas you guys shared in videos.
I just discovered your channel yesterday and couldn't have been more pleased with your content! I have been studying Mandarin for 14 years, traveled to China 3 times previously, my last trip being in 2018, and appreciate the time you spend building this channel! Nanjing and Hangzhou are amazing cities! I visited both in 2015 with my York U summer exchange Chinese program! I'll be heading to Korea on February 4 to teach English for a year, but plan on defiantly visiting China sometime later this year! I will visit Shanghai and Wuhan as I have friends there. However, If I have extra time, I contemplating wether I should visit Xian or Chongqing?! Which would you recommend for a tourist?
Thank you! So happy to hear that you like it 😊 I haven't been to either of them yet, hopefully I'll get to visit both during this year, but I'd personally say Xi'an. This is purely because of the history, but it also depends on which season you'll visit. As far as I know, people recommend going in Spring or Autumn 🌸
Thank so so much for your quick reply much appreciated! Lol, Okay, but if I have the extra time I think i'd like to check both out! Have you both visited luoyang as well?@@jiayiandjulieinchina
Xi'an is a world-famous historical city. Chongqing is a famous cyberpunk city, and its ultra-modern architecture is amazing! My suggestion is to go to both cities.
6:10 I think most places/cities in China where they have less foreigners, Julie will be a celebrity thus drawing a lot of attention, including those paparazzi because to them she is their movie star. 😊 Shanghai where there are a lot more foreigners, it is less likely to have this same situation.
In Shanghai, I noticed a lot of young guys taking pictures of foreign girls, so I'm honestly not sure 😅 Hangzhou isn't exactly small, but it still happens constantly and it's close to impossible to get them to stop.
Non-Asian & those who look obviously foreigners are probably too exotic to them, so the paparazzi behavior in them comes out. But I fully agree that they should honor your personal space & privacy as not everyone likes to live like a celebrity/movie-star, especially at all the time. We sympathize with Julie.
@@jiayiandjulieinchina Julie, so sorry you are feeling confused, amused, frustrated and uncomfortable bc your privacy rights being "breached" . The mains reasons (quoted Ricky) are ........ (01) Cultural Curiosity (02) Novelty, uniqueness, status and bragging rights (03)social trends (04)language exchange (05)perception . Hope you overcome this peculiar phenomenon soon . Lol!:):):)
The winter weather is not very comfortable in most cities of China, I remember Julie said you are not fond of cold weather. Why not go to hot places during new year holidays, like Thailand? Or southern cities of China. Just a small suggestion, hope you get well soon❤
The girl gives a wonderfully weird vibe. Extroverted outlooks and an introverted (Nordic?) core, exceptionally intuitive. I wonder if many Danish girls (people) are like this.
@@jiayiandjulieinchinayou are so nice to answer this question. I think I may feel uncomfortable to answer such a personal question but you are so polite. BTW , thanks for your video sharing a young couple exploring their ❤️ journey.
You are very brave. Despite all warnings from the medias not to take ‘risk’ coming to China , you did it.😃I had been to China a number of time. It is probably one of the safest place on earth.I went to Nanjing and Suzhou in 2018. I stayed in Nanjing for 3 days and ate different noodles and roast duck. Very cheap and delicious.I had been to China a number of time. It is probably one of the safest place on earth. Over here you will see friendly people, who want to take pictures with you, superb infrastructure, very conveniences to go around from city to city. There are no vagrants, thieves, drugs or guns in China. Your choice is wise, go and live in other countries while you are young. All of my western friends who made visits to China came back with extremely high praises on China.
Haha, thank you, I've never been the type to listen to what other people tell me to do 😅 I think people should give more places a visit instead of judging a whole nation based on the insane claims placed on them. This, I think, is especially true if you're from the West 😊😊
Being honest is the best way to do these kinda videos. If the city u travelled to wasnt good and the people are rude, dont hesitate to point them out and no need to apologize. And you dont have to speak politically correct, i love china and she will always be motherland. But there are plenty that need to be changed.
For sure, but so far, the cities I've been to have mostly been great, so my criticism is fairly minor. In the case of Nanjing, I genuinely really like the city and people were so lovely 😊
The locals in Hangzhou have become a minority, and a large number of people from other provinces have come, many of whom are immigrants from the same family. In particular, the majority are from Henan, and almost all taxi drivers are from Henan.
We choose not to disclose our jobs for privacy reasons 😊 As for hobbies and interests we both have a lot, like history, politics, working out, design, food. Jiayi likes mma and basketball. I like dance and bodypainting ✨️
Taking pictures of anyone without their permission or after they told you to stop is definitely not a compliment. It's rude. I'm not an animal in a zoo

How did you get your hair like that? I love the waves
Thank you! I used a medium sized curling wand, with a curl holding spray in my hair and that's it 😊

Nanjing sounds more like many cities in Southeast Asia.
I'd say the vibe is quite different to SE Asian cities. It has a very Northern vibe to it

I saw someone say most people moving to Hangzhou are still from Zhejiang province, but you're right. It is a bit of a melting pot here 😊

Just wondering if there’re any differences for young couples living in China vs USA? Singles living China vs USA? @@jiayiandjulieinchina
@bradhawk5997 I mean, of course there'll always be differences between life in two different countries. Do you mean in any specific way?
Royal bride and smart Chinese, prince child
why are tree trunks painted white in china?
I think it's to protect them from bug or fungus, so they don't die 😊

😅🤣
Both cities compare to my hometown Xi’an, r food deserts lol.
From my perspective as a European, nowhere in China is a food desert 😅
