Thank you for posting this video, I am going to attempt my first 1/24 scale plastic model build in many years. I use to build plastic models when I was a teenager, I am 61 now, I have shaky hands and bad eyesight but feel the need to do something with my five-year-old grandson and he has asked me if we could build a model car together. I cannot say no to him. This tutorial has shown me what products to purchase and some very useful steps to take and procedures to use. Wish me luck and God bless.
Pro tip: When spraying over masking, spray with a light coat of clear or the base color (in this case white) to seal the edges and help prevent bleed through.
Great tip! Going to try it on my next build because it ruined my previous build. I still uploaded it though, so other people can learn how NOT to do it😅
I have 17 years old Ferrari F430 kit, untouched and in brand new condition and thanks to you I will able to finish it. I was overwhelmed how many tools and equipment I am missing but you clearly showed you can do it with basic set. I am really grateful, amazing content.

Great work. Personaly I would not have gone black panel lines. I would have gone for a light silver grey and not thick. You want it to be a light hilight, shadow effect. Not full in your face. I would have used a fine line pen. Worked great on my railway bridge to highlight themortar in the bricks. But still a great tutorial. I have a Tamiya MX5 to do but want to get it spot on that it matches my own MX5. I have been told flocking powder for carpets too.
The painting process is simple unless you are like me and buy a white car as your first model and you spray white paint on white plastic, they you cannot see where you sprayed and where you didn't. I'm currently finishing it and the tutorial is one of the most helpful things i ever watched 👍👍

Excellent finished model! Question... what's the purpose of clear coat? You're wet sanding and polishing. Wouldn't you get the same finish with bare paint?
Hey man, bare paint has no protection and normally its semi gloss or flat finish..so to achieved the shinny and glossy paint, u must spray clear coat and this will protect and bring out the true colours of the paint😁
If you're using a a single stage paint yes you can polish it to a semi gloss finish, but you're not going to get the wet glass polish using single stage. For the best finish use base coat and clear it like he does in the video. Also a good alternative to a paint booth since most people don't have one, is wetting down you shower(important to wet all the walls and floor to not get overspray) and turn on your exhaust fan. Just to add to the already excellent video.

I just came across your videos yesterday and I love them. Subscribed right away. One question, I notice on this one that you place your decals at the end. Most builders place them before clear coat. Do you maintain your same process even on decal heavy builds? Do they adhere long term over the wax?
Hey man, thanks alot! Normally i will place the decal 1st and do clearcoat..for this video im doing the simple and non risky steps..because every clearcoat is different and spraying experience is very important..most beginners will easily ruined the decals when spray clearcoat
@@JHHobby thank you for the reply. Clear coats will protect decals during the wax process then... If being intentional and delicate? Wax by hand only or rotor will be ok also with decals?
Thanks for this video. Very informative and useful for someone like me who wants to get into the hobby. But I have to ask, the panel lines in some of the pictures are thinner. Did you use alcohol or anything of that sort to thin it out?
Been wanting to get into the hobby for years. Today I stumbled across this little roadside yard sale and I found a brand new Aoshima Mercedes SL65G Black series for 5 bucks. Looks like a tough first build but I’m going to try it. Does anyone know about this particular model? Thanks again, looking forward to joining the fun.
In my opinion and personal experience i always do the body first. Main reason is the body has to be absolute perfection. No runs drips or specks in the paint. If u cant sand it out and recoat it then its scrapped. Now if youve taken ur time to do the other stuff first ( chassis, interior) and the body is bad i feel like ive wasted my time. Just my experience...
Do you usually wash your parts with dish soap and warm water to remove any residue on them from the factory before painting? I noticed when painting with an air brush this helps the paint to adhere better.
I wanted a Celica GT-4 scale model, but after that, i think that a real Celica will give me less trouble.

Great video! How to, products used, explanations, and full build. Love it. Subbed!
Thank you so much! Glad you like it😁😁
Can you do a video on air brushing - how to mix paints. Tips and techniques etc
ahh ok..maybe 1 day i will do that haha..good idea thanks!
JH-Hobby 👍
I'm interested in starting modeling cars, what would be the price for a starter pack?
The model car kits go for $20-$30 at hobby stores
Thanks for this video. Very informative and useful for someone like me who wants to get into the hobby. But I have to ask, the panel lines in some of the pictures are thinner. Did you use alcohol or anything of that sort to thin it out?
Keren bro,, vidio nya sangat membantu skali buat pemula.
terima kasih bro =D
Great tips for any beginner like me😂 Btw bro when are you going to do a 1/24 RX-7?
haha thanks! glad you find it useful =) i did built a rx7 initial D last time before i starter youtube haha..maybe i will build 1 again in the future
Outstanding work!
best video ever buddy respect from greece
Thank you thank you!😄😄
Nice video for a beginner, but one question, maybe i missed the info in the vid. Do i need to wait between the layers of black coat ?
Thanks man! Just a few mins will do, like 5 mins..if its too wet and thick then you have to wait longer
aw man I don’t have basically any of the stuff here i want to fix my old kit
haha its ok, you can get the essential items 1st =) and slowly find a way to build it your way =)
Been wanting to get into the hobby for years. Today I stumbled across this little roadside yard sale and I found a brand new Aoshima Mercedes SL65G Black series for 5 bucks. Looks like a tough first build but I’m going to try it. Does anyone know about this particular model? Thanks again, looking forward to joining the fun.
wow for only 5 bucks?! thats a really good deal for such a great car! haha Glad u got the kit =D
wow what a find
around 15 mins, there's a surprised ASMR innit.

I’m 14 and looking to do some stuff like this can’t wait to try any tips for starting?
hey =) normally i will suggest tamiya kit =D its easier to build
Thanks for clear and easy turtorial! 👍
Glad it helped!😄
the hardest part of a model is waiting for the paint to dry
btw thanks for the tutorial!,do you recommend painting the body first before moving onto the other parts?
Hi, not necessary..you can do what ever you like 1st😁
In my opinion and personal experience i always do the body first. Main reason is the body has to be absolute perfection. No runs drips or specks in the paint. If u cant sand it out and recoat it then its scrapped. Now if youve taken ur time to do the other stuff first ( chassis, interior) and the body is bad i feel like ive wasted my time. Just my experience...
I started making model cars because of this video. But I wonder if I can use clear coat at any spray?😏
Wow glad to hear that😁😁 try the paints 1st before spraying on the actual model😁
Do you usually wash your parts with dish soap and warm water to remove any residue on them from the factory before painting? I noticed when painting with an air brush this helps the paint to adhere better.
Hi, nope i didn't wash them😂 but i do prep thm before spray like sanding the bare plastic 1st and wipe with degresser solvents.
Hi, bro. That Scotch Brite pad is the one for using dishwashes like pots and pans?
It's almost the same thing but its not the type for washing dish😂 not sure it can be use or not😅
