One time on a trip I was swimming off the shore of Catalina Island and I got to have the experience of swimming alongside some small sharks. Definitely one of the coolest things I've ever done. I wish humans didn't kill so many sharks.
It is a suckerfish, you are correct! But the type is called a remora. It's actually a parasite, but the relationship is symbiotic. The remora cleans the shark (I have some footage of them cleaning the teeth in a wide open mouth!) and in turn the shark let's them feed off its scraps. But if they annoy the shark, they're donesies. 😂
@@ai2549 So sorry, not yet, but you just lit a fire under my arse to get on with it!! That trip had so many sharks I decided to do my videos around the species. The lemons were oddly less common than I am used to, but you will love the dentistry. 🤣
Sharks are incredible it's unfair the stigma they carry.. as with everything with sharp teeth should be well respected especially since we take all their food...
I love diving like that. The attention was more on that giant boat in such shallow waters - like WTF?!?? I always had at least 15m under me this doesn't even look like 3m! Very daredevil but surely chillaxing new divers.
Yeah, it was a weird trip, but the next time I went was incredible. I think it also looks even closer from the fisheye lens, but it was legit about 30 feet tops. Prolly 25. 😳
I love sharks. They are not as aggressive as people think they are. If they attack it is because you really pissed them off or they thought you were a seal or sea turtle. There have been very few cases of sharks actually acting people for no reason. Although just in my opinion I would stay away from great whites, bull sharks, tiger sharks, and black tips as they are the one who if they do attack for some random reason it would be them. 🦈🏝🐠🐟🌊
They absolutely LOVE getting there heads rubbed they love the affection that's what she was looking for people have such wrong ideas about sharks and almost everything people think is actually incredibly false tiger sharks nurse sharks love love attention rubbing there heads and there noses and belly
Agreed; however, I come from a school of thought that says to disturb your underwater environment, especially the creatures, as little as is possible. I have wanted to rub their heads forever, but when humans start to interact with wildlife, their behavior inevitably changes and often to its detriment. Still... totally agree with you!!! It's just why I personally don't do it. 😊
I have a video of those amazing things. Man... Even in a cage the feeling that you get when a giant great white looks you square in the eye and starts swimming toward you is like nothing else in the world. LOVE.

What other animals that large are completely unphased by human presence? It's like if you were to go to the grasslands of Africa and see lions casually walking around you.
They sure do!!! Not when they're on the bottom with their mouths wide open to get a good teeth cleaning though!! Lemons do that.
