    TESTIMONIALS
    ‘Started hitting the moves laid out in these courses the very next class...extremely uplifting to have such a quick improvement in my game’ - Houston, TX
    ‘I’m the only white belt in the academy doing these moves…I’m suddenly competing at a blue belt and above level…thanks Coach Tom’ - LA, California
    ‘Some of the best strategies you are going to see for control and submission’ - London, UK
    ‘The detailed way Prof Tom breaks down his moves into the absolute essentials is just next level for me. This is absolute gold‘ - Sydney, Australia
    ‘Most of the guys at my Academy, have about 60lbs on me, but since purchasing your ‘Kimura Attack system’ and ’14 days’ everything has changed. I feel much more confident, roll better and the guys on the mat have commented on the same. Thanks, Coach Tom’ - Dallas, TX
    ‘I know you have your names for your courses, but I’ve renamed them the ‘Zero to hero’ courses, I went from getting constantly owned, to now being completely dominant on the mat in no time at all’ - San Diego, California
    ‘I use the course material heaps, and just recently put it into action at a local comp, walked away with double gold. No one was more surprised than me! - Miami, Florida
    ‘As a new white belt, these classes have helped me so much, Prof Tom’s technique, the details, and his attitude. I love how Prof. Tom shows the ‘mistakes people make’ and then shows the correct way of doing things. The only one I have ever seen do this’ - New York, New York
    Great videos, great instruction. I just watch them for hours…Melbourne, Australia
    ‘The instructional saved me big time at a recent comp, my opponent was def more experienced, but that was ok, coz I had Prof Tom’s video in my brain. Nailed it and scored gold’ - Colorado, Denver
    ‘All of it. Everything you show in your awesome videos are now my ‘go to techniques’. Thanks for your vids Prof, Tom’ - Houston, TX
    ‘You really have to watch every second of the video because Prof, Tom drops these little nuggets of gold throughout the course. And they make ALL the difference. The only one doing this. Keep them coming Professor’ - NY, New York
    ‘If I could only be taught from one person, Prof Tom would be it. I can’t wait to train in person one day’ - Dallas, TX
    ‘Went to a recent competition with these videos fresh in my mind. I knew I had an edge and the confidence this gave me was unreal. Got the gold. All submission wins! - LA, California

    I have fallen victim to the going easy with team mates and it effecting me in tournaments. Especially passing and shoulder pressure. I decided I have to be selfish when it's tournament time and train with my teammates that I can go hard with. Great topic 👍

      Yes that's my approach too Breck. Especially at a more advanced level, intensity is often the difference in matches. (-: Coach Tom Davey

      Definitely... I noticed a huge decline in my abilities after trying to go too light with lesser experienced people just because I didn't want to discourage them from training.

      In jujitsu,... i stop when either every one else in the class is done..., or the mentor says we're done, especially if I'm battling a injury, before a upcoming fight, but that's just common sense. But other than that I agree with most of what was said.

    I roll too passively. I have always tried not to strength things but I sometimes confuse that with being passive.

    Good advice. I'd also suggest agreeing with your rolling partner on the level of intensity.

    I've only taken one BJJ class, and I left with a bruised rib so never went back. Maybe don't roll with new people quite that hard :D

      I'd say you just had a bit of bad luck. Injuries happen in every sport, and they happen in BJJ too, but it's a bit of bad luck that you got that on your first class. If I were you, I'd give it another chance.

      Def go back, although you're the 4th person I know of that had a rib injury on the first day lol

      @@melzy0146 I totally forgot posting this. I went back (to a different school) in September of 2019. Then when the shutdowns happened last March, I switched to training via Zoom and kept at it. I'm big on easy rolling. I have no desire to compete and low odds of ever being in a real fight. It's purely a fitness hobby for me.

    hi Coach Tom. I am 40 to 60 pounds heavier than all my classmates who are equally skilled or better and they are faster than me. How hard should i roll with them during training? Currently, i am rolling with lower speed but less pressure on them. Any suggestions?

    • @TheGrapplingAcademy
      @TheGrapplingAcademy  6 лет назад +4

      Great question! Id keep speed low to avoid injuring them and try to use only the strength necessary. Otherwise, let them start in a dominant position then you can go harder! (-: Coach Tom Davey

    What do you think about what GSP said about going live, he only goes live for the duration of his competition? If he was fighting a 15 min fight he went live at the end for 15 min. He wouldn't do these 10 five minute goes because he wanted to know his true ability for a competition.

    • @TheGrapplingAcademy
      @TheGrapplingAcademy  5 лет назад

      each tot heir own. gsp is a legend and ultimately you want to train as hard as you can without injury. (-: Professor Tom Davey
