I just got it yesterday to use with the lav mic. My idea being that I have multiple cameras and I want one sound output ( I can still use the sound from the crappy camera mics if all else fails). The first test I did with lav on lapel, I used HI- as my input and that was distorted to heck - even though the VU's looked ok when I tested it - MID or MId- is what I think seems the best if you're a loudmouth like me! Haha!

I just got my Zoom F1 with the SGH-1 shotgun mic. I thought I would try plugging in a set of headphones before outputting to the camera. I set it to manually peak between -6 and -3 and tried with and without the limiter. I discovered a background pre amp noise - not a "Hiss" more of a "distant ocean" sound if the rotary knob on the mic went past 5. I could get rid of it by turning the headphone output down, but then of course the source material went down also. I must admit for a device that can record at 96k 24 bit WAV, the self generated noise defeats the object. Am I expecting too much at this price point? Peter.
Pat, thank you for this video. When recording straight to the zoom recorder and shotgun, what settings would you then recommend on the recorder itself?
Hi i have a question. Is it normal that if u shoot with 1mic within the zoom f1 and 1 mic in the camera, that you can not sync?
They both are 48khz and 24bit.
But if i sync them in my premiere pro project or in plural eyes there is still slightly a difference. Audio shifting is the name i heard. Is there something i can do in the settings to avoid this?
Do you have a problem with the battery door?
I hate it! But it hasn’t broken, yet!
