I just feel a little touched by all the nice comments and the great feedback on my post. In fact I posted this video 4 years ago, but out of a sudden it finds a lot of notice.
Myself - being a musician I found myself heavily attracted by the early Purple stuff as kid of 12 in 1969, when my father gave me the "DP in Concerto" to listen - for me this was it !!!
In 1972 I was fortunate enough to have DP im my hometown Cologne - MADE in JAPAN - I was crying and had no voice for days after that show.
I stayed a Purple and Jon Lord Fan forever but in 1999 something magic happened. I was a musician by that time in my early forties - being a composer & arranger in different settings - mainly a keyboard player and a Hammond Lover.
Jon LORD - the MAESTRO himself asked me to join him on the "PICTURED WITHIN" Tour as a keyboard player. I couldn't believe this ! But it was true - he had recorded the album in Cologne with EMI and so he had a lot of contact here in Germany. Even before he had a close relation to Germany - the SARABANDE ALBUM was recorded in mid of Gemany in 1975/1976. The TOUR with the "LORD" was unforgettable for me and was "crowned" by the 30year anniversary of the Concerto in the RAH in London in September 1999, which was completely recorded on a Deep Purple Double Album...
When Jon died in 2012 I was deeply shocked - for me he was a musician of a lifetime!!! Shortly after this I started collecting ideas for a kind of a tribute to him and found friends and musicians helping me with this. So in fact we did our first "TRIBUTE TO JON" in may 2014 with a lot of great people, also having my own orchestra contributing to this. in 2017 and 2021 we did it again, contributing a lot of Deep Purple tunes combined with some of Jon's solo pieces - whether instrumental or vocal...I have written most of the orchestral scores for this show - including the "BLIND MAN" - Paul Mann (Long Time conductor for Jon and Purple) helped me out with some...and it always was a blast to perform the best tunes ever in front of an enthusiastic audience.
We will do it again in 2024! I will post new videos from last years (2021) edition, including the "Blind Man" again with the same arrangement, taken by cameras...

Thanks for all of this, and your efforts for Jon, in my seventies and only play electric bass in my living room now, still learning though and visit a tutor regularly for input, he's younger than my kids, lol. 🫂

Absolut undenkbar für mich, bei Deep Purple nicht an Jon zu denken - er war und ist für mich immer noch das VORBILD - habe ihn 1999 auf seiner "Pictured Within" Tour als Keyboarder begleiten dürfen, nachdem ich ja schon gut 30 Jahre Purple Fan war...R.I.P. JON !

Thankyou very much...Honestly I have to admit, that this video was only recorded Audio, not Video - but we had some fans who videotaped it via iPhone...that's what you see...I have uploaded 3 new videos on my channel in the last weeks from our last event in november '21 - they were taped in a good quality...Maybe you have a look. "When a blind man..." will also be posted again from that show 2021 in a much better quality...Best, Martin
