It looks like it is sitting a little high, it should line up with the cross bar on the doors. Did the side panels have a top or bottom marking? It is a lovely piece. Happy reading!

I thought the same thing. There are 3 spots inside that the shelf can go. None of them line up with the bar on the front.
I'm going to get some of these books. Read The Wife Upstairs by Freida McFadden. It was excellent.
