I've only had the previous paperwhite for 6 months so there's no way I can justify an upgrade. I strongly prefer the rounded edges of the screen. Hopefully they're here to stay and carry over to the next versions.
I haven’t bought a new Kindle since 2015. I can’t decide if I want the new paper white or the color soft. Either one is a substantial upgrade in my case.
Not to me. The page turn buttons, the full autorotation, and the power button on top were some of the big reasons I bought my Oasis (I actually have two. One with the warm screen setting and one without). I see no reason to upgrade since it would mean losing those features. If I just had an old Paperwhite, then I would probably upgrade to the new basic Paperwhite or more likely the Paperwhite Signature edition.
Contrast wont be increased substantially because of the flushed screen, unless they go with microetched glass or recessed screen instead of plastic flush layer on paperwhite, which unfortunately isnt their priority seems like.

You'll probably have to wait a bit. The Colorsoft is only in pre-orders right now and doesn't ship until October 30. I'm sure they will compare it once they have a test unit.
I don't have any e reader and I hope I win this contest. Thank you Good e reader for giving me this opportunity.
Wow, also waiting for the comparison between this and the colorsoft one. Will buy my 1st kindle on the basis of that
I've only had the previous paperwhite for 6 months so there's no way I can justify an upgrade. I strongly prefer the rounded edges of the screen. Hopefully they're here to stay and carry over to the next versions.
Thanks for the review!
Amazing review! A question please. Which has a whiter screen this new Paper White or the New Macha Basic Kindle? Thanks!!
Macha
I can't choose between this and Colorsoft. Good video!
I haven’t bought a new Kindle since 2015. I can’t decide if I want the new paper white or the color soft. Either one is a substantial upgrade in my case.
The new kindle Looks amazing!
I mean, the comparison really showed the speed, it is very nice, almost tablet-like. Approve haha. Hoping other companies would follow this
I wish they had more colors available. I love the raspberry pink but I think it will be great if they add yellow, purple and white
Gen 12 already, and I've yet to own a Kindle... so here's hoping to get lucky and win one! Thanks for the chance ☺
Terrific review!

The color is so pretty!
Is it worth switching from an Oasis?
Still not buying a Kindle, just bought myself a Boox Go7, buttons and an SD Card? Yes please!
Love love loveeee the raspberry color!!! 🥹🩷
Great video.Thank you for the review
What’s the material of the back part? My old Kindle Paperwhite had a type of rubber texture and it got sticky after a few years :(
Always informative videos
I've been wanting a kindle for years now
Great review!
Have they increased the contrast already?
Contrast wont be increased substantially because of the flushed screen, unless they go with microetched glass or recessed screen instead of plastic flush layer on paperwhite, which unfortunately isnt their priority seems like.
@@harrypotter416267 my ancient Kindle 4 beats my Scribe with the screen contrast. Its background is much less grey. Still can't figure it out how this can be. Also I've seen DES screens demo on RUclips and they're really paper white. But it seems like they're currently only used for interactive price tags, no ebook manufacturer is using those.
My 6th gen is still doing just fine.
Looks much snappier than my basic Kindle. I love reading from a Kindle.
ty for the review!
Is Immersion Reading mode available on the new Kindles yet? Been waiting for years. It doesn't make sense when it works for other e-readers, like my Onyx Boox.😢
Well, I don't see any notable improvements over my paperwhite 3 expect for the refresh speed, kinda expected something more. Great review though!
When they come with "the fastest [insert electronic device name] ever" you know they're having a hard time justifying an upgrade this time...
Been looking to upgrade my PPW4 hoping to get this when my budget allows me.
How is this with unformatted pdfs like old library scans, photo scan pdfs. The 11th gen couldn’t handle them.. I’m curious if this can?
Can you tell: do the old cases fit?
@@AndreasPinkert they won't: bigger screen
Best Kindle ever? Best color yet!
Can you still transfer your own epubs on the kindle?
I don't really need the new one. But I'm glad Amazon is staying in the eReader business.
I currently have the 7th generation Paperwhite and I have some hot pixels on the screen. Not gonna ask if it's worth upgrading to this version as I'm sure it's like going from an old Corolla to a Tesla. Do you know if Calibre works with the 12th edition?
Looks nice, color is good too
How's their text to speech voice?
What about Ghosting? There where some complaints about the previous model Gen. 11.
Maybe I need to see it in person but as I’ve seen on all this early reviews I can’t see any difference between this and my 11th gen paper white signature edition on the ebook reading and refreshing, but after seeing this particular review on the pdf and comic reading its way better, I’m amazed by how fast it can refresh and zoom the images, I don’t want to upgrade mine right now, but for sure I’m considering buy a new paper white or colorsoft on future just dedicated on those tasks, thanks for showing it!
MPT in this new device makes side-loading a pain!
Very good video! Thank you 😊
Nice review 👍
Wow nice e-book. Good luck everybody!
"Its so different. It is made of recycled materials!" 😂😂😂😂😂
I really need to get a new epaper ereader. My last one died a bit ago and the tablet replacement isn't as good.
Love the bigger screen !
I am a fairly new kindle user.. one of the main reason why i didnt had a kindle before (despite reading a lot) is the price where i live .
So a year ago, i bought a second hand (good condition) kindle 8th gen.. is there any reason to consider upgradjng?
I really wished they would have released the matcha green color option for the paperwhite 🥲 Ended up ordering the metallic grey because I really don’t like that Jade green.
Other than that I’m looking forward to trying it! Big reader but very first e-reader.
Same but you could always get a skin for the paperwhite that's similar to the matcha color
I just want a paperwhite with a slightly bigger screen. No need to change anything else. The new Colorsoft also fails for me because the screen size is too small.
How freaking big of a screen do you want? Nool has 7.8 go for that...
Is this the signature edition? I noticed mine doesn't have bluetooth, don't know what would I use it for tho, but its kinda weird
My paperwhite 7th has only a downside: battery is lasting max a week but can I read? yes. Will I read even with a 3-4 days battery? Yes. I'm keeping it until it explodes.
Here for the Kindle Paperwhite competition 😀
It looks great but with the color kindle existing...
Why go for the paper-white and the color one?
The base kindle in good enough for just black and white
Great review
Like the rounded corners but still I don’t see much that would justify the price hike from the previous gen Paperwhite.
Dumb question probably but can I charge it with an iPad 20W charger ? Will it hurt the kindle battery or will the kindle only « take » 9W out of the 20W charger ? I don’t want an ultra fast charge, I just wanna use the cables I already own.
USB never provides more than the device can take, so you can use whatever USB charger you want.
@@coder543Thanks for clarifying it 👌👌
