- Here is a quick rundown of my server rack! I think in the future I might do a deeper dive into the specifics of each of the machines.
The primary use case for this rack is two fold:
1 - Web hosting and virtualization
2 - Video post production and 3D animations
Overall I am really happy with the current setup, I think there are ways I could improve it but for now it is working smoothly. But the life of a sysadmin demands I continue to grow so I'm sure a year from now it will be a 42U monster.
Thanks for watching!! - Приколы
Thanks for this! Been learning from this channel 🙏🏼 blessing from Nashville TN!
Wow. Much good! Very great!
Cable makes me happy
"This is a well-organized server setup. It looks like everything is running smoothly."
Thanks, Andrew!
That shelly is sweet.
This is such a clean setup, one of the best I've seen, I'm really inspired! What is the make/model of that drawer by the way?
Thank you for the kind words!
The drawer is a Navepoint 2U Sliding Drawer with Lock. It is 13” Deep internally. Not exactly sure of the exact SKU but here is a link (non affiliate) to the Amazon listing which is where I purchased mine!

Disk Shelf is not actually Dell. It is EMC before they were sucked in. The 3090 hack/jank was not great idea, seal the holes and get the correct airflow through the chassis.
Thanks for the info! I agree the chassis needs fixed. Looking to swap to a Sliger case soon but ill patch those up in the meantime.
Nice setup! But, I can't help but notice you have sliding rails and yet you've velcro'd that cables coming out of the back. If you ever want to slide anything out, you'll want to remember to unvelcro those. If you're not a fan of hanging slack, you can get some cable management arms that hold the cable slack and scissor open when you slide anything forwards. They're not too expensive so they're well worth the price, but if you don't need or foresee yourself sliding anything out, how you've done things is probably fine so long as you're mindful.
Absolutely thanks for the suggestion! Thankfully I can service both of them without fully sliding them out but yes if I have to remove them fully I will unvelcro/ revelcro.
Love those lights on the front. Are they just light bars or what are they exactly?
Thanks!!
They are high density BTF Lighting 840 per meter LED strips. I love them. You can get them on Amazon in different styles but these are the 24 volt RGB version.
I use them with a Zigbee controller in Home Assistant but you can just buy the kit with a standard remote controller.

@@pealock Very cool. My rack is in a spare apartment above the garage, so I don't ever see or hear it, but I still think I have to get those because it looks so badass. Nice setup and thanks for sharing.
Awesome setup! What case are you using for your 5950X system and what cooling? Thanks!
Same question! I just bought a little network rack to begin and I'd love to be able to move my gaming PC to a rack.
Thank you!!
The case is a Rosewill L4500U. Its fairly large, tons of room for components. I use an EKWB 360mm AIO liquid cooler for the CPU. Temps are pretty good for a rack system which typically run a little bit warmer.
For what its worth, if I were looking to build/buy something new I would get a Sliger rack case. They have some really awesome cases and more flexible and modern layouts. But the Rosewill is a beast don’t get me wrong! You just have to have a really deep rack cabinet to accommodate it.
The servers/pc is connected into USW Aggregation sw?
That is correct, 10 gigabit connection using SFP+ LC fiber transceivers and OM4 fiber patch cables! Works great. DAC cables are another great choice and more cost effective but I prefer the look and flexibility of fiber cabling.
how much power does your 630 use with that hard drive config? Im thinking about doing the same SSD to HDD SAS ratio for mine. Thanks
Right around 200 watts at idle with the current config! I got the Dell drives (1.2TB 10K RPM) off of eBay for 30 dollars a piece. Ive been quite happy with the setup. Reads are around 600mbs and writes are in the 450mbs range.
@@pealock thank you for the info
Do you have a link or name for the horizontal cable management in the back of your rack?
Here ya go! They are Middle Atlantic Horizontal Lacing bars. They make different styles, some are offset which can be really nice. This link is to a 10-pack, im not sure they sell them in this style individually but you can always check out ebay.
