??? Hi. What would you recommend for a 72 year old expat who is currently covered with Medicare and Blue Cross Blue Shield as a supplement.
Hi and thanks for watching. Mike mentioned during the interview that you can only use Medicare Advantage C in Panama and that's for medical emergencies. Since you mentioned you're already an expat, is your coverage with Blue Cross Blue Shield international or only in your original country? Most companies require a different, upgraded package for international coverage.

Looking into getting things in order to make Panama second home for me. I am a retired Nurse Practitioner and when in NP school worked along with medical students and residents who were from Panama who stated they would return back to Panama to practice. This is one of the reasons I have chosen Panama as a home away from home due to the healthcare system (public vs private) Panama is a developing country not a third world country (which I experienced when I lived in the Philippines). I am retired from the Federal Government and choose to keep my health plan along with Medicare as my retiree federal insurance has a couple of plans that will cover you out of the country. The cost for those plans may be higher but worth it if you plan to be out of the country and need routine or emergency care. He is correct regarding VA medical service out of the US, and regarding service connected disabilities. I am a prior Air Force Vet, and also worked doing the disability claims at VA hospital for Veterans.

I love the Philippines and the people but Panama is definitely on another level in many respects.

I agree with your comments regarding Panama. I had a short list of 3 2 US territories and Panama on my short list. I choose Panama because it is a few hours of a plane ride from the east coast of the US. My other choices were Guam and US VI because Medicare is accepted. But, I opted for Panama when I weighted it all out. I will send an email once I have my arrangements in order. I plan to apply for the Pensionado Visa and just starting early this year to get things in order. Keep up the great information provided by your channel! @@ChosenFewExpats

Hi Jared and thanks for watching. I don't really understand your comment. Panamanians have always had very, very low cost for use of public hospitals as well as the ability to obtain a plan at one of the private hospitals. The primary issue for expats that Mike is alleviating is the ease of making appointments and the language barrier.
