I saw the video come up and didn’t think it would add much to embossing folders but much to my surprise your technique is a game changer! I would have been reticent in adding that much water but simple spritzing never turned out this well. So thank you for bringing this to us. I absolutely love this. Now I can kick in gear with a bunch of cards! Hugs!
Yana, I almost skipped over this video. I am SO glad I didn't. Red, white and beautiful. They just turned out with a WOW factor. Thank you so much. It's good to see a visual because I wouldn't have thought to add that much water on the card stock. I couldn't find the EF in the store yet. Maybe since it just came out they haven't uploaded it yet. Thank you for such a great video.
This is how I have always done mine! So true how it shows every detail so much better. And sometimes when you don't use the water the paper tears. What I use to dry mine is my heat gun and keep flipping it so it don't curl and it seems to strength the paper too. V
NOW look what you up and did !!!!! I must give this a try. Tomorrow to night is a bit late. But I love keeping it simple. And these are strikingly simple but striking in results. Very CLASSY. Thank you for sharing. I've done wet embossing BUT I've had white cardstock discolor. We have very hard water. I'm going to fill my super fine mister with distilled water when I attempt to wet the cards tomorrow and maybe I'll get better results. I love the way the embossing seems to finish the card on the back side. Everything couldn't be easier and the results are just knock you out lovely. Your sentiments you choose ere wonderful too. I see a lot of folk using these stick on labels and I may want to look into those but so far I am happy making them up via computer and printer or stamping too. I can foil the words and designs if I I use my laser printer too. All in all though the wording you picked out was wonderful and these are geat for male or female alike. I can't wait till tomorrow to get started with these.
Thanks! I had all but given up on 3D embossing. I thought I had tried everything and still it never turned out like I wanted. Your method worked great!
Agreed - this makes a HUGE difference, especially with those 3D folders! Great video and GORGEOUS cards, Yana - my mind is brimming with ideas to crank out some cards on my lunch break - and these might even go pretty quick, thanks to your lovely examples! Blessings, C
Never thought to emboss the back of a card-what a great idea! I always do one mist of water on each side of the paper & have felt that I get great results. But I’ll have to try it using a little more water & see if it makes a difference. Thanks Yana.
Beautiful cards. I never thought to emboss the back of the card. It really makes the card standout even more. Wow! Thank you for sharing your expertise.
That is really smart to add a slightly smaller panel behind the embossing. Oh, and the banner ideas! This was chock full of great tips and tricks today! Stay safe there!
These are stunning! Really, so elegant, as you say! I love that you just added a simple sentiment, yet stepped it up with the gold flag banner edges. Another brilliant design, dear Yana! Love to you, too! 💛💛🕊
Oh I too had trouble with embossing in my Spellbinder 6 but works great in the 8.5 or Platinum. Nice to know you experienced similar situation. I have a new electric embosser cutting machine from Anna Griffth's the Empress and haven't used it yet. But hope it takes embossing plates well. I have some of her older super deep embossing plates that are ultra thick. Will be interesting to see how well they run through it. Meantime thank you I'm almost convinced to give the water treatment another try. I do wonder if the brand and style of paper stock could also play a role in the outcome. I still struggle with glitter card stocks that have the tough plastic membrane as they Emboss fantastic but they do not cut well ever. I have 8 embossing machines and gifted one to a friend that was generic and never used. And she loves that machine. Meantime she also has the large Sizzix so not sure why she doesn't use that. Meantime I often try different machines for different cutting and sometimes two or three set up at one time when making a huge batch of cards marathon style for gifting. Thanx again for taking the time to show this technique even though I'm yet to be a totally in.
oh wow! sounds like you have a full professional craft room with so many different machines! And yes, paper matters, not all papers take water well, especially the glitter paper if it has that plastic membrane
Yana, you made reference to a fellow crafter whose name is Yasmin Diaz…is that the right spelling. Thank you for your expertise advice when using the 3D embossing folders! ❣️
I usually spritz water into the air and run the cardstock through it several times. Never thought of wetting the cardstock with that much water. I’ll try this next time I can’t get a particular cardstock to work. TFS!👍🏼
Thanks Yana! Another great video 😍 Also, I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one who can’t use my Spellbinders Platinum 6 for embossing. I thought it was just my machine.
Someone else has already mentioned it but if you check out J McGuires' channel she always embosses with her Plat 6. Don't think she uses plates though. Good luck.
Wonderful technique you’ve shared. Thank you! Question though - why did you tilt the embossing folder before you put it through the machine? BTW love your nails.
These cards are gorgeous. I wonder what the weight of the cardstock you used is? Would it work with say a 65# cardstock or should it be heavier? Thanks for all you do and share.
Hi Jeanne, good question!! In the description appears a couple of simon say stamp cardstock #100 so maybe the #65 one could be thinner. I’m gonna try this with differents tipes, perhaps you too. Bye
the thinner paper might not be durable enough for all that pressure, but definitely worth a try. I used 100lb here, but also tried 80lb, it works well.

When you mean to emboss with a spray of water on the thick paper, does it run through properly using the Cuttlebug machine.? I’m having trouble to go through a slightly thick card stock to the machine, it felt like the handle was about to break. Any help or tips to make this go smoothly would be great, I’m still new at this.
I've tried for 2 years off and on to apply very light misting or moisten the card stock but end up ruining my cards I emboss. But if I just emboss I get the most amazingly good results? I've seen this done over and over and suggested even by Tim Holtz but for some reason it back fires on me. So just wanted to say people if it doesn't seem to work for you no matter how little you spritz it or try but you still get decent and even great embossing relief don't keep trying. I finally realized I was wasting time and effort not to mention expensive cardstock. I will suggest becareful with these 3D deeper embossing folders they can and do sometimes cut the papers. I made a whole bunch of beautiful different colored Stardream cardstock holiday cards a few years ago and about 20% of them turned out to have slits along some of the deeper relief in the design. Turns out you could not see them unless you were looking for them. For gifting cards to family and friends no problem but I would never sell one to a buyer if it wasn't perfect and yes this is one of those times I was determined to use the moisten the card before embossing. But again it ended up with warped cards that only lost embossing when I attempted to weight them down to flatten out the warping. Just wanted to tell everyone try first with shims and no shims and change up your sandwiches if need be when using these depending on your machines. I ruined a brand new Tim Holtz cut and 3D embossing die using a Gemini electric machine as it took it just fine but broke the die and warped it with the first pass. Since then I've been very careful and usually opt to use manual machines over the electrics. If you love these check out the wonderful embossing sometimes with metal die cutters too at Altnew and of course Spellbinders larger ones too. So many people are getting into these deeper fancier embossing folders. Also be aware you may need to trim down the back of a card that you didn't emboss because it can shrink the size itself a bit now and again. I do love embossing no matter if I'm a failure at watering or not. Happy embossing everyone.
Gorgeous, Yana. Great idea to emboss just a panel and adhere it to the front! I had been embossing the front panel itself. What rectangle dies do you use to cut out the sentiments?
Thank u Yana. Is this technique 4 only 3-D embossing folders or can it b done on regular embossing folders as well? I love this idea. Have a great night.
I always spritz my cardstock but have never used that much water. Can't wait to give it a try and see how much it improves the dimension of the embossing. Thanks for sharing.

I did not know I could use that much water! Going to try this method! Thank you, Yanna!
Yes! It helps to loosen the paper fibers and achieve a much more detailed emboss
Great demo! I have tried the "misting" but was really helpful to see how saturated you can go
Yes, I like them really damp, especially with these 3D folders ❤

Thank you, Yana. I don't have the 3D folders. But, I will try the water on my heavier cardstock that tends to crack.

Thank you, Yana. Wonderful technique that I will definitely try. Your cards do look rich and very elegant. Really, really useful video.

Great tutorial!
You mentioned about placing a heavy "something" on top to prevent curling…….will it flatten the embossing any…… or not?
A small book or notebook will not flatten it 💖
This is amazing. Will definitely try this asap. Thank you.

Such an easy tip with amazing results. Thanks for posting your video.

Me too, Deborah. I actually regret purchasing the Platinum 6 overall.
@@momofschnauzers I use my electric die cutting machine for embossing now.
I'm sure that Jennifer McGuire just uses the base platform, a folded piece of cardstock and then the embossing folder with the cardstock inside.

The machine handles a tilted embossing folder or die better and more evenly than if it is straight.
@@LovinglfDesigns thank you for the reply!
It makes it a LOT easier to send it through the machine if the folder/die is at an angle
@@Yana.Smakula do you think this is because the machine has a smaller (pointier?) peace to first grab onto & therefore what follows is gripped well?
Wonderful tip can’t wait to try it !!! Thank you for sharing ♥️♥️♥️♥️
