I was. Born in Bremerton in 1945....only because at that time, Pprt Orchard didn't have a hospital. When my parents retired, they built a house on the Port Orchard side of the the Bremerton/Seattle ferry run. Worst thing about the location of their house is that they were very close to the fog horn which was on during heavy fog. All the naval ships going to Bremerton for work went right by my parents house. We saw aircraft carriers and all sorts of navy vessels going to and from Bremerton. It's quite pretty in that part of Washington state. I just got bored and tired of the weather. Moved to northern California in 1986 and now consider California as my home.
Been stationed there twice, last was in 86-89 at the sub base. Had a great time and the summers were awesome. Thanks for the memories
Thank you for your comment! And thank you for your service :)
Can't wait to move to Bremerton.
Can't wait to see you here!
Thank you
You're welcome!
Great clear day aboard the Walla Walla. Hard to believe it's been in service for 51-years.
It was a great day for a ferry ride!
does the fast ferry also have a car dock?
The fast ferry does not have a car dock. It's walk on with bikes or scooters only. The state ferry can accommodate almost 200 vehicles though.
How long is that ride ?
The Bremerton-Seattle run is about 50-60 minutes. The fast ferry is about 25 minutes.
Unusual sunny day for WA / Необычно солнечный день для Вашингтона.
My ship was in dry dock in Bremerton when I was in the Navy. Is the McDonald's still there? The one outside the Puget sound shipyard..
There is not one directly outside the shipyard. There is one on Kitsap Way, and another on Wheaton Way. Both are probably a mile from base.
I miss Bremerton.
How long since you've been here?
Me too! I was there in 93
USS CORAL SEA, shipyard from 77-79. I stayed until 82. I was there when Mount St Helen blow
