The reason Thai Airrways got bankrupt was missed management where because of the top gave free ticket to the friend and bought airplane that they didn’t need to begin with.
My experience with Thai Airways has always been satisfying. The Crew really made the major difference! I found them approachable, friendly, obliging, helpful & humble! 💖💖💖👍🙌🙋♀️
I flew Thai many years ago and remember the warmth of the cabin crew, so nice to see that this ethos is still going strong. Thanks, as ever, for a great review Josh.
I often fly Thai and much prefer them to many of the European national carriers. Food and service always great and I've never had any delays or problems. And I've flown them a lot!
I haven't flown with Thai Airways before, but I guess the Thai Crew members are per definition on a high level wrt service and hospitality, as I experiences the same thing on 2 Bangkok Airways flights. I would love to try Thai Airways one day on a long haul flight.
as an economy long haul traveller that 3-3-3 configuration is worth its weight in gold. Just completed an extremely uncomfortable trip with EVA 3-4-3 .I will definitely be checking out Thai again next time. Thanks again for a great review Josh keep up the good work
"Should I fly a bankrupt airline" Yes, even more important to fly them now than ever. Six months with constant near-full occupancy can do wonders for them in times like these.
Hello Josh. I flew TG922 from BKK to FRA on 28 June. For an airline facing financial difficulties, I am happy to report that no corners were cut in Business class. Lots of food and drink available. Service was great, especially at the end flight when the inflight supervisor personally when to each passenger, saying “Thank you for supporting Thai and hope to see you again.” A very nice touch indeed.
I flew the same route just before you did and agree. Crew and food were excellent. I was flying onwards to Heathrow and annoyingly they gave me a 50 minute connection window. That is more a reflection on the state of airports at the moment rather than the flight. The only 2 comments where I’d say Thai needs to improve are… 1. The plane was in pretty bad shape. Some of the seat buttons didn’t work and the light was broken. 2. For a day time flight they closed all the windows after meals and wanted everyone to sleep. Now I have no issue for this for a night flight BUT… I came from Australia the day before and I needed to stay awake on this flight to adjust to the Europe time zone. It didn’t make sense to sleep during this flight as I would be in London by 9pm and therefore going to bed at 10 or 11pm to properly adjust. Not sure if it was the same for you??
I flight also same flight in October last year and I can only the worst flight I ever had. The plane were I a horrible chape. Carpet ant seats were fixed with ducktape. Food were not eatable. Service were also at the lower end. Also the crew uniforms see like they were really old and worn. Seat config were 3-4-3. On return we flight from bkk-muc in a350 there were the same only plane were not worn... and we have to pay 800euro extra for the same flight after the big C were thai give us an voucher... never ever thai again
Flew the Thai A380 to Narita 6 years ago and the staff were lovely..both on the ground and in the air! Helped me with a quick connection which I really appreciated!
Hi Josh. I flew Thai many times and NEVER had any bad experience, the cabin crew always friendly and focused on helpful servicing, brilliant food, very fair price and absolutely well maintained planes, even now after the crisis, but thats logical, cause they get all technical support of Star Alliance. So I was very happy that you had a pleasant flight, too... Thx for the review, its good to know you always tell, what has to be told, if it is good or not. Enjoy your flights, take care, man. I appreciate and trust your work!!!
I flew Thai Airways from Bangkok to Munich 5 years ago. It was a midnight flight, so the flight was quite empty on the 747. The middle row was empty so I lay and slept on that empty row. The IFE was interactive, the food was tasty, and the crew were one of the kindest crew I’ve ever met. Thai Airways indeed is one of the best airline I’ve ever flew on. Definitely would fly them again someday!
I used to fly this airline every year, never had problem and would have to say its amongst Asia’s best or atleast SEA’s. Recently I actually caught the first Thai landing into Perth post covid (actually just arrived home from doing it!), its not the greatest as many delays happened but im sure Thai will make a great recovery.
Glad to hear that from you. I hope THAI is on their ways to recover well. Just like Thailand, her people and culture are what makes it works. Love you Thailand
Out of all the airlines I've flown with, Thai was one of my favourites. The crew were super friendly, the food was great and the plane was exceptionally clean, including the lavatories! It's such a shame to hear they are facing bankruptcy now. I hope they can make it through.
Warmest friendliest and helpful airlines. Outstanding hospitality. Silly me I was carrying champagne for my wife without realising that I was supposed to carry in my checked in luggage. The consignment was promptly confiscated and no fault to customs. I was not ready to give up. My wife won’t let me in without the champagne. When I told the crew of my predicament they reasoned with customs, went out of the way to check in the champagne and all the while I was allowed to use their lounge though just being an economy flyer while they fixed my mess . Love you Thai you made my day. I flew to Delhi. Handed my sweet heart her champagne and was her hero. But it was Thai and wonderful crew who made it special. Love you Thai.
I had one of the best meals flying from BKK to CMB back in the 2000s on an A300. Jumbo prawns in Thai rich sauce and some roti. Amazing food and hospitality.
Don’t know why he says he never thought of Thai as one of Asia’s best airlines. Thai have always been in the elite. I’ve been flying them on and off since 1984 and they’re consistently one of the best in the world
I have heard so too that they have been world class back in the 80s and 90s perhaps even early 2000s but in comparison to SQ, EVA Air, Cathay or many other Asian airlines, they lack behind, especially in Business Class. Makes sense? :)
@@JoshCahill appreciate your reply. Makes sense, I just always found Thai to be squarely in the middle of the SQ BR CX JL NH league. Their equal from a food and service point of view but with a better livery! Agreed the airport is good for marathon training, the other airlines mentioned probably score higher with their home airports. Missing my Asia travels re Covid, hope the opening up continues
I flew Thai from Bangkok airport, to Phuket airport and the service was great and it became my favourite airline its so sad to see what has happened to them, hope it gets better
Airlines like Aeromexico, Avianca and Latam filed for Chapter 11 (bankruptcy law) during the pandemic. All of them are now emerging from this measure. Let's hope that Thai can do it too.
exactly.. how was that even possible? two months ago they were also ridiculously expensive to come back from Europe I had to fly Qatar instead of my own national airline.
Super review, brought back memories of my LHR-BKK trip earlier this month. Yes agree the crews I had were all so friendly and helpful in true TG style and the 777ER way out was really comfy in eco as was the 787-8 on the return(Both flights full). Looks like they are increasing the daily flights between LHR-BKK back to 2 a day soon. So sad to see the rows of dormant aircraft lined up at Suvarnabhumi (suwanapoom) airport especially the A380 with the faded purple livery and the engines wrapped up. Keep the reviews coming Josh and rack up those miles to keep our smiles!🙂
Flown Thai many many times on there Boeing 747-400, Airbus A340-600 and A380, always found the crew friendly helpful and great service, the worst thing is check in at Suvarnabhumi airprot, as there are always massive queues, they could do with double the check in desks for economy as many long haul flights to Europe leave around the same time such as TG 910 BKK-LHR.
Thank you Josh for the review. I will also fly with Thai airways on November 2022 round trip from Jakarta to Delhi 5 days with my guests. We are 10 pax and this tickets are pending since pandemic. Hopefully we can make it and fly smooth that day. I also used Thai on 2019 same route to Delhi from Jakarta, it was an excellent experience and good service from Thai Airways 😊
In my family my father has gotten Star Alliance Gold status by flying Thai Airways from MNL to Europe via BKK and then used it to access an Air Canada maple leaf lounge in Toronto Pearson. His status can be used to access EWR Terminals A and C United lounges ICN Asiana KIX NRT/HND ANA lounges. Between BKK and MNL TG > PR. They need to restart TG790/791 this time to EWR for UA feed.
Thanks for another interesting review. Any Thai Airways flight I ever took -business or economy- was always a great and relaxing experience. Keep those great videos coming please. Thank you.
Superb THAI Airways.....They showed that if you are really love your business & If you really wants make mark, then in any circumstances you should perform like a professional. Well Done Thai Airways...all the best wishes for you. From India
I just flew SIN-BKK and BKK-HKG and it just like typical Thai airways, except there are probably fewer movies in the IFE and the catering portion seems reduced a little bit. On ground their lounge is reducing its size and they remove the Spa (massage) service which makes sense for me
A short but sweet upload! I have flown Thai quite a few times (and had A340s, A380, B777 & even a couple of 747s!) and have always found the cabin crew friendly and the food quite good for economy. But i still think Singapore Airlines service is just that little bit better, it certainly was on the four flights i have flown with them......
i book with thai airlines cargo all the time. super good and cheap, gets on time and flies so often from ARN. might not be the same thai you speak of but thai still fave airline for me when i book cargo
I had my best economy flight by far with Thai Airways when they operated the A340-500 on the Oslo route. Can't remember the seat pitch, but I think it was on par with most of todays premium economy offerings. Oh btw, love your channel Josh!
And now, with worldwide offices closed, on and off issues with their web site, 1 week or more turnaround to your email request for any changes, the only way is to contact them internationally on the phone to Thailand, only to wait an hour, and then find out fare difference is actually more than buying a new ticket.
We flew from Bangkok, Thailand to Copenhagen, Denmark with Thai Airways Boeing 777-300ER too on November 21, 2017. We sat in economy class. The flight wasn’t really bad except we got hungry throughout the flight.

Thai airways cabin crew and meals are great. Just need to improve their ground staff and the overall check in experience at suvarnabhumi. I flied with them before the pandemic.
I flew them in Business class on the same route as you, it was terrible, no menues so no idea what's on offer and the crew don't tell you. On a 11 hour flight the crew came back to the cabin once!
@@ThatForeignBloke Yes. We English speakers have a hard time picking up several Hindustani sounds and several Arabic sounds. Thais have a hard time with some of ours but if we want to speak Thai we need to learn their tones.
I have flown with Thai Airways for 6 times and in my opinion is one of the best airlines I ever flown with, friendly staffs and delicious meals. Here are my flights from Thai Airways 1. Bangkok-Chiangmai (2009) 2. Bangkok-Hong Kong (2012) 3. Macau-Bangkok (2012- This flight was operated by Thai Smile Airways which is like the daughter of Thai Airways.) 4. Yangon-Bangkok (2012) 5. Was in Bangkok 2 days ago flying Qatar back to Europe. Thai still owes many people refunds from two years ago. Doubt they will ever get their money back.
Maybe an updated video. They are starting to see profits and bringing more jets online to meet demand. They are hiring as well because of pilot and cabin crew shortages.
I live in Denmark and it's nice you like CPH. Then there was Norsaq (Air Greenland A330) in the distance and you mentioned that your next flight would be with GRL. Nice since I am from Greenland. Personal preferences aside, I wonder if your trip with GRL is a bit late or a bit early. GRL has ordered an A330-800(Neo) but delivery has been postponed to this autumn. All the same, have a good one and tikilluarit to Kalaallit Nunaat. Blue skies. :)
What about trying some airlines in the Caribbean? Liat, Caribbean airlines, inter Caribbean or SVGair for some twin otter action and an AMAZING getaway to the grenadines islands, look it up
I think those Business Class seats are due for a refresh. You didn't comment on the IFE and if the movie offerings equal the huge selection found on other long haul airlines.

Hey Josh, I think you could start A leg room review, telling us viewers how much leg room you have would be great help.
If you call “Bankrupt” as a company declaring such, you may be saying that Philippine Airlines is also bankrupt.
Another lovely review!!!
Was in Bangkok 2 days ago flying Qatar back to Europe. Thai still owes many people refunds from two years ago. Doubt they will ever get their money back.
Thanks a zillion sir for this lovely video,I wish nothing but the best for Thai Airways , such a nice airline.
Corruption has always kept Thai Aiways from being amongst the top. In recent years it has lower quality and higher prices than its competitors.
as a Thai, I couldn't agree more. We could have remained at the top from the 80's and 90's but sadly things changed due to mismanagement.
Wow you got a good deal on that flight. God bless you in your travels❤️
Smooth as Silk...
I'm glad you are putting flight and plane info on your description ps happy Canada day my country now is 155 yrs old
Girl winked at 5:30 seeing Josh's camera 😆
Blue skies. :)
no question about the hospitality of asian crews compared to europeans
What about trying some airlines in the Caribbean? Liat, Caribbean airlines, inter Caribbean or SVGair for some twin otter action and an AMAZING getaway to the grenadines islands, look it up
Nice service
I think those Business Class seats are due for a refresh. You didn't comment on the IFE and if the movie offerings equal the huge selection found on other long haul airlines.
