In today's video we will install one of the much needed, must haves on any bronco, and that is the Tailgate Range Limiter from @mountains2metal ! They made a fantastic product that is very robust, sturdy, and can handle the weight of the gate, as well as anything on the gate.
We needed this for the Big Bend "Ben" because we use this bronco the most for our dogs. Having the ability to limit how far the gate swings open helps keeps them from just jumping out the opposite side. Not having a limiter, the gate swings open too far, and since we have a rotopack on the gate, and stock taillights, as well as a heavier tire on the back, you can imagine how hard it is to control a gate with no limiter and a very happy dog that wants to get out and explore.
We can't wait to give this a go this next weekend when we take our boys out. I'm sure we will fall more in love with it. This part is VERY EASY to install. It literally was under 10 minutes to do. Definitely do yourself a favor and get one of these if you have not already. Link is at the top of the description box!

RTR limiter is a pain in the ass to install and it scratches the bumper plastic. So off it went. I went with warhorse limiter love it.
I looked at that too but this one is really well made and thought out.
I know people who have broken the RTR limiter.
Great video once again! I know the tailgate has to open so far so that the rear window will open. I can’t open the window unless that tailgate is open so far. I would like to have that limiter at the least position where that window will flip up. We do have dogs also.
Rear glass will still open at the 80 degree setting, just barely
We installed this on on the soft top but at 90 it will open on the hard top. I will look tonight at the 80

If you’re talking about the breast cancer one, it was custom made and they only made one for us. They are making any more. Sorry.
This is nice but $185??? Surely there is a cheaper alternative? If anyone knows or used a cheaper option please comment back.
There are cheaper ones out there but issues with them such as difficult to install or mounting spot like the bolt we showed you breaking or bending the bottom of the door.
Truth is, its a fix to a problem that really doesn't exist. I really dont see the point. I give it a hard pass. To many vendors trying too hard capitalizing on the new Bronco market.
When you have a 20 inch rim and 37's on the tailgate it matters. If you park on a SLIGHT incline and open the tailgate and it literally slings to full angle before you can react = bent hinges and chipped paint on said hinges. Speaking from experience 😆
The problem with mine is I didn’t want the door to open that far for the dog’s safety. This way the limit there way out and not worried about the door opening into another car.
The tail gate swings open too far if you have gas cans mounted. This is great protection.
@@technicaldisasters yeah I heard if you have the cans attached like on the hammer built unit, the cans can crush the tail light lol.
