Basketball was my first love and always will be (I hope my wife doesn't see this). In my day, I could thump that Rock. Over the years I have lost my interest in the game I loved so much, largely due to as some of you have alluded to, the selfishness, the self-absorbed, the bullying, the showing off, the negative conduct. Nikola is completely the opposite of the aforementioned. I marvel at his abilities to play the game at the level in which he does but more importantly the manner in which he carry's himself, marked by moral integrity, kindness and goodwill. Just a decent human being. Aside from God, Nikola is my new hero. I hope he never changes.

and what they say is that he is not athletically built.. I can bet my life that Nikola has the best physical condition in the NBA, what he runs as a center, which hardly any player can do.Imagine if Jokic played for the Lakers, everyone would write and talk about him, I was surprised that some people saw Jokic for the first time because the media won't show small clubs, now they are writing about him until the season starts and they won't pay attention to him again who is the best player in the NBA right nowI listened to his father's interview. Nikola is already with his horses early in the morning and spends the whole day with them. The Man simply loves horses more than basketball.I hope that future children will learn something from this great man, that one should not be egoistic and what are the true values in life.and that the family comes first, it is the pillar of life.I hope that other basketball players and sports stars can learn how a successful athlete behaves.

But he is over 7 feet tall, pushing 300 lbs and has the coordination/touch that is better than a ton of super successful point guards (Russel Westbrook for example - great PG but Jokic has way better touch). That is the remarkable physical quality to him - you can't teach coordination like that

Here comes an outsider who absolutely smashes their formula with the simplest of moves, dishing insane passes, and shooting fadeaways with one leg almost all in slow motion AND HE STACKS UP HISTORIC NUMBERS! What is even more amazing is that it is a developed talent rather than inbred. It takes an incredible amount of focus to achieve what he has. Many NBA players succumb to the myriad distractions of our materialistic world. Jokic appears to be immune to such frailties. He keeps life simple.

The very specific decisions that man makes in the flow of the game with the ball or even without ball are always pitch perfect.
His fast hands on defense is unappreciated to the hard of seeing. His court vision on either side of the ball is steps ahead of the opposing team. His range is equally effective from deep, mid , and long. And his passing is a hybrid of Pete Maravich and Larry Bird. Oh, and he’s money at the stripe. The league has never seen a skill set as large and that appears seemingly easy.

Nicola became the best player in the world because of the love he has for his family. His brothers left home to play and to work when he was a still a child and the separation was traumatic. Basketball was the ticket to keep them together.

Can't totally agree with the conclusion / message of this vid.
What Jokic displayed and achieve on the basketball court took a tremendous amount of talent.
Even for the hundreds of NBA players, the most gifted basketball players in the world, I doubt not even 1% of them would be able to dime ppl up in the phenomenal fashion and efficiency like Jokic.
Jokic is not a physical beast, but his basketball IQ, touches, and court vision are generational talents.

Best thing Jokic is doing to the NBA is showing all the people living there it's not always your speed or athleticism that make you a star, it's what is inside your head and your IQ. What makes him so deadly isn't his scoring or him being a big man, it's his insane passing ability to cutting teammates. This just my own take, all the best for him. Maybe he can retire in couple of years and go ride his horses so others can dominate in NBA :D

He actually doesn't play like Larry at all. Yes, they're both pale and great passers but Larry was a real wing player and Jokic a real center. Jokic is a combo of Magic Johnson as a point center, Dirk (or Bird if you prefer) as a shooter, and Moses Malone on the boards. Moses not a particularly good jumper either but relentless on the boards.

That's a good point especially now as more than 2 decades have passed since the fighting and disintegration of Yugoslavia. I read of some hostility between Serbian and Croatian players in the 1990s in the NBA when fighting was ongoing in Yugoslavia.
I worked with Croatian and Serbians on a language program at the University of Tucson in the late 1990s and there were some strains at times.
In the modern NBA, I'm sure the players from the Balkans relate very well to each other.

    • @XYZOxyz
      @XYZOxyz Год назад

@@randygraham926 I know because I observed their interactions, on and off the court, while they were on the same team and later on different teams. I would describe their relationship as passive aggressive at best. I also know of a huge argument they had over the war, Jokic wouldn't let Nurkic spread his propaganda. I don't know if it ever got physical, but I saw them pushing each other a few times and just avoiding each other completely most of the time. Maybe at some point they did try to make it work🤷🏼 I'll make sure to watch games between their teams next season and see how they interact after the game, but I can say with 100% certainty that Jokic/Nurkic relationship is strained, especially when you have insight into the beautiful relationships between Jokic and both Bobi and Doncic (as an example). It's my belief that they traded Nurkic not just to make room for a more talented Jokic, but also to take the constant stress of dealing with Nurkic off him and make him happy. The rest of the players mentioned are all ok and most of them are at least 50% Serbian. It's my understanding that Jokic gets along with all of them. Things probably aren't as bad as they were in the 90s and a lot of it really depends on the individual. But on the whole it's important to keep in mind that the strain will always be there, it's hard to get passed ww1 and ww2 genocides and ethnic cleanings and of course the 90s then as the cherry on top. This can be observed even in office environments. Jokic was only a child when he was bombed and poisoned with depleted uranium and his wife was a baby when she was ethnically cleansed in 1995. He may look cool, aloof and indifferent most of the time, but you can bet he has some strong feelings and PTSD for life. It's not something he'd ever bring up because he's not that kind of person, but he also won't let others (ie Nurkic in this case) talk trash. Team owners and coaches need to be very careful of how they put together their teams.

    • @MiskoGrande

By understanding that basketball is not only gym and hoops. There is a lot to learn in theoretical part too. And when you know all theory, you can then invent new things like inverted pick and roll or triple screen. And you can for sure see the game differently.
