Standing on the side of the stage while Black Label Society played at the House Of Blues in Cleveland in March 2005...that was one of the best bass sounds I ever heard!

Ashdown are something special. I had a MAG300 with a 4x8 cab and it blew my chins off.

So good! I love this long format, so good to hear about James' amp journey, i learned a lot about tone shaping and amp history/ what player were looking for tone wise in the 70's and 80's. Favorite part is seeing how he sets up his amp, with the two low mid sliders down and the two treble sliders up, flat/no preshape and not afraid to crank the bass knob. I pulled out my ABM 500 EVO ii today for rehearsal and what a great amp, get a nice natural valve drive.

if you like the organic tones of the 70s how can you play Ashdown it is the dullest and fakest bass amp ever.
