Most Don't but the fans and real listeners know. Eddie VH was fresh at the time and thats why he became popular but even Ed praised people like Vito, Steve Lukather (Toto) and Jerry Cantrell (Alice n Chains).
Vito Bratta is for music what James Dean was for the cinema of the 50s, a revolutionary, a misunderstood, a complete artist, an exceptional guitarist and like a shooting star he illuminated the sky of Hardrock for a moment but his memory continues beyond of any night. Vito for me is among the 3 best guitars of the 80´s 90´s and among the 10 best of Rock World
Me as well. The industry almost killed him, back in the days where your label and studio owned you. You will look like this, sound like this and move like this, a long hair, make up'd woman looking rock star. (but not as much as other hair bands, including (Mötley Crüe) "You will be writing everyday for 10 hrs. You will record five songs a week and at least three better be hits. Here's one million dollars, you'll pay for everything,....you're set up two to three concerts per week for 10 months. If you run out of money, don't knock on our door''. etc, etc...I hope and pray that Vito is doing very well these days, even if he's not playing for himself. I love,...his guitar rendition of ''Radar Love''. He brought so much into that song, that no one will equal. Mike sang a outdoor concert years ago with a very good guitarist and played Radar Love, but he had nothing compared to Vito. My Guitar God, is Eddie and Vito sounds a lot like him, but Vito knows nobody, will equal him, so play like him with your own twist. I really love watching and listening to Vito play !

I heard that he just didn't want to play guitar at all anymore
I just listened to Eddie trunks interview with Vito and one reason he's not playing much is because his hands aren't the same. It gets painful after a while but he does have an albums worth of material of music whether it be instrumental or otherwise. I hope someday he does come back to give us all something to chew on. WL was cut off due to changing times and music unfortunately.
Never gonna happen.. shame and personally I was always praying 🙏 for Vito.and EVH to jam for just 10 sweet minutes.. and obviously I would've been there to record the event..
I always feel a bit sad when listening to White Lion and that is a compliment. It`s a kind of melancholic and nostalgic feeling that most hardrock bands from the 80s didnt have
I agree n I get the same...I had just moved from Louisiana to Cent Florida.. circa 88 ..n it was a happening town , the beach 45 minutes away, started dating a girl but for some reason I can relate to what you have stated.🤘
Only 14 comments about this video..makes me sad knowing this band was Greater than the average famous bands of the 80's metal scene but White Lion was always underrated it seems
My friends and I were the Shore Girls, used to see them play Lamours all the time, they always gave us back stage passes. What a great band, what a great era!
Vito Bratta was an amazing guitarist! He had his own distinct style and touch, and some say, there was a ballerina dancing on his fretboard when he played!
White Lion is my very2x favorite band! Rock on Vito Bratta the Guitar God!🎸💥🎶 My top 1 of all time guitarist! Super talented shredder tapping melodic player!
I never realized how much I loved this band until watching this video - I actually got a little emotional at the end !?!? It's such a shame we don't realize how much of their heart , soul , blood , sweat and time these guys put into their music...and the sacrifice of time spent making it all happen. Very sad when it all comes to an end and there's just no more music - I ALWAYS wonder what we may have been treated to if the 80's style of music would've hung on for just a few more years. I play guitar SPECIFICALLY because of Van Halen and Vito Bratta...and I absolutely LOVE their playing to this very day. Sadly , when Vito walked away from White Lion , he put down his guitar and quit making music...THIS is the most tragic loss from my perspective. It's sad to think he was so disillusioned by the industry that he gave up music completely...how much more great music could he have contributed if he would have played a little longer...tragic loss to the guitar playing world !! I do wish him the best though , and am very thankful for all the great music he recorded. Thank you very kindly for posting this vid - it's one of the best I've seen in a long while and I learned a lot about this band I never knew.
I perform songs like Wait, Tell Me, When The Children Cry, Little Fighter etc. by White Lion in my live club circuit shows and people still flip out when they hear these songs, even when they are performed as cover songs (but you gotta nail these songs, solos and all). That's a testament to the impact White Lion had in 1988, 1989 & 1990.
Yes! They are great songs. And you better get the “Wait” solo right. Ha! The Fight To Survive record is legendary to me. I got it as an import from Japan….and watched the rise of the band firsthand at L’Amour in Brooklyn, NY. Unforgettable.
Vito Bratta, One of my favorite guitarists of the era and highly underrated. No matter how technical, complex or simple Vito's solo;s were you always feel the melody and what he was trying to say. His playing always draws you in. Would love to see these guys do a show again even if it was just a one off. Many bands perform, but not all make Majic. Wait had the majic.
Awesome video! RUclips is the best. Love these guys. Wicked underrated band. They were great live. Saw them open for ozzy on the no rest for the wicked tour. 88 I believe. I was 12. Good times!!
Lucky enough to see them with Skid Row back in the day. Vito is an awesome (oft overlooked) guitar player from this era. Too easy to lump them into the crop of forgettable cheesy-hair-metal bands but for those that grew up listening to these tunes it is hard to deny the fact that wrote some catchy songs. Nevertheless whenever I hear these tunes I always have a smile on my face and a desire to drink more than I should. Clearly one of those bands that would crush it if they decided to give it one more shot. I think they would be pleasantly surprised by the reception they received. Valhalla awaits.
I have this on VHS somewhere. I had NO IDEA the band had ended until that final minute. Had heard rumors, but no confirmation. This was one of my favorite bands. Still is. When you witness a band go from unsigned to signed…you feel a deeper connection to them. That was the case with White Lion for me. What a time. Thank you for sharing this video!!!
I saw and new these guys from back in the day in 1984 when they started to play in L’amour the rock capital of Brooklyn. These guys were great and so underrated. There music was and still is great with a lot of meaning. I had there first album on tape which was a demo at the time like a year or two before it was ever released. The owners of L’amour were there managers and are great guys. Those were the day my friend!
Margo Young I chose vito bratta because I love all of his guitar solos. Vito bratta guitarist and songwriter reliable. All of which were shown in his great guitar solos. Your choice???
So sad that Mike and Vito aren't still making music. Vito is probably the second best guitar player on planet earth. Those White Lion songs are special special songs that will live forever. A reunion is everybody's prayer. C'mon Mike, c'mon Vito, the world NEEDS White Lion. Don't let it die. There's an army out there that wants to see this happen.... Please, before its too late!
Yeah, I heard he totally gave it up. He's into computers big Time now, or was. His hands are messed up I guess, like the guy above said. (Tony) And the business side of music Vito hated which didn't help either.
Vitto had the most melodic and tasteful solos I've ever heard. Just jaw dropping beautiful, and technically tight as hell. What a genius. Such an understanding of peicing together melodies and notes that melt as fluid together gorgeously...what an artist. Surprisingly, alot of geniuses sometime shy away from the spotlight...he deserves this recognition. The solo of "wait" is pure genius... The lady of the valley is phenomenal. Little fighter is awesome too. But I've never heard a more beautiful song than "When the children cry." His solos just sing incredibly by themselves but fit in so effortlessly snug into each song. A rare Artist indeed. The real kind...
This is my favorite band. Vito If you happen to see this. God bless you and your family. You are my favorite guitar player. Jake E Lee, Randy, Eddie, Don Felder, Gary Richrath, Jimmy page, The great Les Paul, so I will say Chet Atkins and Glen Campbell. Your work on the two albums is the work of a virtuoso.
Vitto Bratta will forever me missed in the music business. I wish we could hear some new music from him. His guitar Work was gift to the radio!!!! He may keep a low profile but I will forever remember him!

So awesome to see so.many white lion fans. If I had to choose 1 band to listen to for the rest of my life it would be white lion. I met Mike tramp on the monsters of rock cruise yrs ago and he is a stand up guy. He loves his fans and I love his music
After 23yrs...made an impact in my music taste.... I guess this band was an underated but yet the music have a lot of depth that no other bands out there.... Something worth sharing for my son when he grew up... Proud to witness the last decade of REAL MUSIC
Had no idea this even existed. I use to love watching Vito play. So melodic, very articulate guitarist. They really need to get together and make new music.
lights and thunder Holy Crap!! that is a Great Song. I Still crank it up to this day. So many twists and turns never a dull moment for such a long song. Its right u there with JA's Three Days such great tunes back then. Music today is a pure embarrassment!!
People keep saying that Vito is a VH clone which is far from the truth. The fact that someone is using techniques he pickep up from another guitar player doesn't mean that he is a clone or even similar. Vito is a very unique individual that stands out from the crowd as his phrasing, musical ideas, sense of melody and harmony are way beyond any other rock player of this era. People judge a player with their eyes, not with their ears. They see two handed tapping and pinched harmonics and think EVH, but the musical ideas you'll hear in Vito's solos are so melodic...Vito doesn't hide behind the pentatonic cliches, which is what a huge percentage of guitar players are doing. Vito doesn't ever play any notes that don't compliment the song and that alone is a very rare thing to find in most rock players...which is another thing that shoots Vito way up in substance over most of the leary shredders of the 80's. Till this day I still haven't heard a guitarist anywhere near as melodic as Vito Bratta
tonally and stylistically Vito is the most EVH like guitarist of the 80s. With that said he is still incredible and definetely has his own style. he said ot himself van halen is his favorite band so of course hes going to wear his influences on his sleeves like every great guitsr player. there nothing wrong with that.
Van Hallen impressed the world at the beginning but his music was not so interesting, personally i like only few songs and the rest is annoying for me. Here I'm discovering Vito Bratta after 30 years and must say I can listen the guitar part only of every song and they're all so rich, original and interesting, with never heard solo. That's much different.
Same here. I'm a Brooklyn boy. Also Battalion was a great band back then they played Lamours a lot. Cities was a good NY band, Devious was a great band that played Lamours a few times they were one of the best NY bands back then, they should'a been huge. I grew up in Sheepshead Bay right down the street from the club The Brooklyn Zoo, that club didn't last long though.
It’s crazy how this was filmed at the peak of when 80s rock was taking a deathblow from grunge. It’s sad that more people didn’t appreciate it for what it was worth and it took a decade or more for that to happen. This music has far out lasted what replaced it. It’s too bad Mike and Vito could never rekindle that camaraderie and make music again.
Thank you for posting this, what a treat. I was barely a teenager when I fell in love with Pride and Big Game, some of the first tapes I remember getting in the 80s. and Mane Attraction later. Every single song meant so much to me. It was unbelievable that they really ended with Farewell to You, I had hoped that was just a farewell from that album :) but what a beautiful finish. Totally special band in my life.
Yes, it is. Farewell to You is a great one, as well. Every time I hear it…I think of the end of this video. I got chills when I first saw it because I didn’t know yet that the band had ended. Powerful.
I got White Lions first demo back in 1984 from a friend. It is on cassette before they released it as their first album. We used to see them at Lamours in Brooklyn when Felix Robinson was in the band.
I think he brings a certain type of personal pain into his melodies and I don’t think Van Halen from sunny California and up-bring put that type of heartfelt into his playing.
What a find, that you for this! I discovered Vito and these gorgeous songs and solos of his late, so stuff like this is gold to me. Truly one of the all-time greats. A unicorn really, Vito Bratta.
Actually they. Came out around the same time. GnR former in 1985 and White Lion formed in 1984. GnR released the biggest debut album in history in 1987 and that’s when White Lion also was just starting to become big with the Pride album in 1987 after their debut in 1985 on an independent record label that folded after their release. So GnR was def not after White Lion but the exact same time and we all know who was and still is one of the biggest bands in the world. Unfortunately it wasn’t White Lion too though. I think Vito is way better on guitar than Eddie Van Halen too. Way more melodic by far!!
@@raynepromotions Yeah white lion was definitley far behind gnr unfortuatley. A lot of their first album I believe came out in 1986 and then they had some really good albums in 89 and maybe 92? I can't remeber the last date but they were kinda just like there but nobody really cared about them 🤷♂️ Oh well! These guys were definitley underrated and I don't care! :D :P !
Man the band in 91 was fucking tight. The music is just soo freakin tight holy crap! They sound awesome ! From the guitar too the drums to the bass singing it's fantastic. 🤘🤘
I was listening to them back in the days I had their album and Vito bratta had his own sound and quality to the band one of the best I heard that's part of the reason I brought the album .
Vito was so innovative and creative. Guitarists know how great he is, but I don’t think he ever got the credit he deserved.

Glamprince89 Rockking77 I saw them at Municipal Auditorium. I just don’t recall who they opened for.
@@dcyphrz8532 Yeah...i couldn't remember the name of the arena.
I saw Extreme open for ZZ Top there.
Glamprince89 Rockking77 Damn, missed that one. Pretty big Nuno fan. Never got to see them. My buddy that worked at Gibson turned me onto Pornographiti.
All join our hands! Just such a cool band and even rocked about God too. Truly talented.
Mike Tramp...one of the most gorgeous men to walk the earth.xx🥰❤💋🇬🇧
Most definitely💯percent
White Lion forever and the most melodic, Vito.
White Lion should be honored and proud...very well done...great job and thanks for putting it together!
Una de las mejores bandas de toda la historia del rock sin duda WHITE LION
What a great nostalgia. White lion forever!
I love (LITTLE FIGHTER)
This is the best music ever.-80’s METAL!!!...
Vito literally sings with his guitar.. So melodic
What a great band WL was; Big Game was the first album i had.. I remember that summer now. I was always listening that record.
lights and thunder Holy Crap!! that is a Great Song. I Still crank it up to this day. So many twists and turns never a dull moment for such a long song. Its right u there with JA's Three Days such great tunes back then. Music today is a pure embarrassment!!
Janes rocks too!!
People keep saying that Vito is a VH clone which is far from the truth. The fact that someone is using
techniques he pickep up from another guitar player doesn't mean that he is a clone or even similar.
Vito is a very unique individual that stands out from the crowd as his phrasing, musical ideas, sense of
melody and harmony are way beyond any other rock player of this era. People judge a player with their
eyes, not with their ears. They see two handed tapping and pinched harmonics and think EVH, but the musical
ideas you'll hear in Vito's solos are so melodic...Vito doesn't hide behind the pentatonic cliches, which is what
a huge percentage of guitar players are doing. Vito doesn't ever play any notes that don't compliment the song
and that alone is a very rare thing to find in most rock players...which is another thing that shoots Vito way up
in substance over most of the leary shredders of the 80's. Till this day I still haven't heard a guitarist anywhere
near as melodic as Vito Bratta
tonally and stylistically Vito is the most EVH like guitarist of the 80s.
Well said ..Vito was one of kind a very unique guitarist
White Lion on forever, forever!.. We love you , Mike ! We love you, guys ! Stay healthy, strong, young forever !!! ✌️🤘💪😊👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Saw them many times at Brooklyn Lamour 👍🏼
@@metalmopars ahhhh Randazos! Great seafood!
Espectacular, tengo el VHS original bien guardado.Esta música me acompañará siempre.
I’m 43 and still blasting these guys🤘
Seems like Dave Mustaine has a thing with White Lion's members, he got James and Jimmy to play in Megadeth.
Memories. God bless the 80's...
RIP Burt K. DIAZ
YOU ARE TRUELY LOVED BY MANY B.D GRAFIX
I went down a White Lion rabbit hole in the early pandemic. I knew the hits back in the day, but really like all they did. Fun find in a weird time.
They are the band that got screwed when taste changed. I almost ball when I hear farewell to you,it's like they knew it was coming, our loss!
Till death do us part is such a beautiful ballad and sad at the same time
Sometimes Bratta's Wait solo brings a tear to my eyes. I don't what it is. And I don't know why.
I think he brings a certain type of personal pain into his melodies and I don’t think Van Halen from sunny California and up-bring put that type of heartfelt into his playing.
Was just listening to them at work. They definitely bring back a lot of memories .
Feb 2021. Greetings from Canadá 🇨🇦
The solo of the second version of Broken Hart is something out of this world....
What an immense taste and talent Vito...
What a great band great guitar player miss this music
What a find, that you for this! I discovered Vito and these gorgeous songs and solos of his late, so stuff like this is gold to me. Truly one of the all-time greats. A unicorn really, Vito Bratta.
Still love white lion . I was teenager in the 80s .
That was awesome. They definately had some great songs. Great last song. Almost most made me cry. It was saying goodbye to the 80's.
Enorme grupo.. Ojalá el león blanco vuelva a rugir otra vez
Siiiiii
So sad they broke up, loved their music...wait is always special to me reminds me of my kids dad when we first met in our 20s
Mane Attraction is such a great album! Probably my favorite.
My fav band in early 90's❤
Way long before GNRS...there was White Lion...✌
@@raynepromotions Fun fact:
Pride and Appetite were actually released on the exact same day in 1987.
Love you and Miss YOU Vito Brata..youre my inspiration
Thanks for this video white lion is my favorite band ever i also still play guitar cause of Vito
Vito Bratta el mejor guitarrista
Man the band in 91 was fucking tight. The music is just soo freakin tight holy crap! They sound awesome ! From the guitar too the drums to the bass singing it's fantastic. 🤘🤘
Wow! i’m glad this popped out on my YT Home screen!
Mike Tramp was a phenominal business man jesus christ good job! :D !
White Lion 🎶🔥 forever 💕 🙌
One of a kind....All 4 albums with Vito are great !
Saw Frehleys Comet at Lamours in the late 80s and again at the Beacon theater with Ace,white lion and Y&T
I was listening to them back in the days I had their album and Vito bratta had his own sound and quality to the band one of the best I heard that's part of the reason I brought the album .
This band puts Foo Fighters, Collective Soul and Live to fucking shame. Long Live Hard Rock from the Eighties :)
One of my favourite band of all time ...
The drummer from White Lion was the powerhouse behind their music. He’s rarely mentioned but his skills are legendary🤘
If White lion reunite with the classic line up ( Mike, Vito, James & Greg ), they sure are going to be huge maybe ever than before, IMO.
great stuff-thanks for posting!
