I believe the part about the label rep telling Vito, “Do you know what your problem is? You play too good. Vito has set himself up perfectly to essentially print himself money if he ever wanted to start playing guitar again in public. This man cannot play a bad sounding note on the guitar if he tried.
And the rhythm section probably was the best in the industry in the late 80's-- White lion has a ton or European demos on Spotify of basically all of their old stuff and the band was a lot tighter than people imagine. As a band they were certainly better musicians than most anyone else in that scene in the 80's and that says a lot. Really a rock band in a hair metal scene.

White Lion were unfairly lumped in with many of the "glam metal" trends of the time; the band had far more depth than many of those groups, as you stated. I think Vito did it the right way. It’s good to know when the party’s over and move on. Sounds like he moved on to more good things!

Vito Bratta & Steve Perry seem to be 2 peas in a pod. Two Unbelievable Talents that are overly sensative, anti-social and seem to be scared of their own shadows. I believe they just want to leave their legacies the way they were.

I mean... there was a time when 'sloppy' playing was more popular and record labels are gonna try to promote what's popular so they make money. That said, record labels are absolutely not required anymore. There's nothing stopping a group from promoting themselves and becoming hugely successful without even having to deal with all the label's rules etc. RUclips alone has made some artists famous.

I think them being a glam metal band probably had a lot to do with that.

That sucks, Vito was one of the best if not the best new kid on the block guitarist. He could hang with EVH, Jake E Lee, Randy Rhoades. Guy was friggin phenomenal. It's a sin he bowed out.

When I was first getting into metal, I heard When the Children Cry on the radio. Not a bad ballad. Bought the casette for Big Game when it first came out. Absolute shite in my opinion. Very generic, uninspired "girls and glam" hair metal. Motley Crue did it infinitely better, and later Skid Row did something even more amazing.

in the 80s the heavy metal scene was full of unethical players so could totally understand why Vito wanted out. He was one of the best guitarist around, he was definitely up there with Van Halen and could he have hit the highest level if he decided to stick around. If he's happy then that's what is most important. I think Mike Tramp has a great look but was overrated as a singer.
