An additional twenty percent of the company is owned by ByteDance employees around the world, including Australians. The remaining twenty percent is owned by the company's founder, who is a private individual and is not part of any state or government entity. That is in keeping with ByteDance's approach to aligning business needs to the markets where its services operate. ByteDance does not have a single global headquarters. ByteDance's board of directors is comprised of five individuals, none of whom is a part of any government or state entity. 3 of the 5 are American. Philippe Laffont, Coatue Management (U.S.-based). Neil Shen, Sequoia (Hong Kong-based). Four out of five of the board's directors represent ByteDance's investors on the board, and Rubo Liang, ByteDance CEO, represents the company and its employees.

Good 👍 ban
why should companies have the same rights as individuals? its nonsense.
Whether its banned or not. The innovation/idea is out now. There will be plenty identical apps to replace it
I am not interested in TikTok , so that is ok with me 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Haven't ticked tokked so can't miss it
TikTok should be banned please we need our kids to learn good thank you 🙏!
Its always the old people who want tiktok to be banned. Just because tiktok exists doesnt mean kids stop learning all of a sudden.
@@Matt_09 I love old people still sorry
And why USA needs to allow Chinese apps
In USA if China banned all American apps.?
Irrelevant
Another brainwashed fool who hasn't got a clue what they are talking about.
@@CuttinBladeno it isn't.
They should. All of these are bad for kids, mental health, privacy, etc
China never banned them, some US companies refused to abide by Chinese rules, big tech companies like Microsoft still operate freely in China as they follow Chinese laws.
Get your facts right 👍🏿
I am grateful to Euro Countries that force FB and others to do better. This is an American policy that makes things better.
Lets not stop with tiktok. Make people normal again by banning all this crap
EVIL PROSPER
Dirty $
Tiktok is the worst thing that's happened to us
Ban Chinese propaganda
Says the country who will spend $1.6 Billion to spread US propaganda and misinformation about China. 🤣🤣🤣
Theres no chinese propaganda on tiktok, I have tiktok and ive never even seen anything about china on the app. This proves that it's always the people who have never used the app wants it to get banned.
Chinese said.🤣
If they bann Facebook first then MAYBE I would be okay with TikTok being gone.
nah you dumb
TikTok, never used it, never will. Theres the answer.
*Freedom of speech can be applied too any App or space, Tik Tok is not a human right, but Right of Privacy is.*
Ban TikTok good news 😊
Anyone thinking Bytedance and TikTok work independently must be smoking real good shit 😂
We have free speech, not a right to make an irresponsible app to redefine the public square.
Should go full Brazilian and ban X first.
The freedom to not be free
Yes you do indeed have but why put others into jeopardy for your personal baseless desires. Get a VPN if you need access to TikTok
@@arthurlane6840 idk if you understand my comment...
My gf always watches this app and it’s so annoying please ban it in England
Ban X in England.
This from the people that brought you 'unalive'.
Free British 🇬🇧 Pensioners 🥶🥶🥶
Tik tok is not a "free speech" mecca that should not be removed.
free speech? does china have this strange thing?
Good 👍
Even if you ban tiktok another app will take its place and or meta, etc will become even bigger
There is not much important information on that platform to be concerned!
Questions about banning TIKTOK, crickets about Leon's now unregulated X platform lol
Because it is chinese .R.T. is russian and they have been declared to be always in the russian side. And I think they are also concern of Tik Tok to be always in the chinese side. Because risks for National security as low as posible.
Yeah, when Facebook's user data was actually stolen, did US ban Facebook? Now, TikTok's user data hasn't stolen yet, they started to ban TikTok. If it was some social network owned by US instead of TikTok, I doubt that US would ban it. What a batch of hypocrites. 🙄🙄🙄
Well, it would say that
I would agree that a national security threat overrides the free speech argument.
What does the bbc know about free speech?
MISINFORMATION. It's not a "ban" it's a partial restriction on distribution. The app stores wouldn't provide it but it wouldn't be illegal to have, to use, or to obtain by other means. TikTok website would/could remain. And all this is only if TikTok refuses to come under U.S company's control, thus ensuring that the Chinese government doesn't have sway over TikTok.
Whatever happened to free speach
Hate speech is not free speech. If its a product that spreads hate of any kind then that product either needs banning or at least regulation.
Then X should be the first to be banned. It's like 4chan and stormfront rolled into one.
LMAO. You’ll be aight
"Concerns". Yet still no Facts 😂
There is no “hate speech” exception to the First Amendment.
So, many Americans wonder: Is hate speech legal?
Contrary to a common misconception, most expression one might identify as “hate speech” is protected by the First Amendment and cannot lawfully be censored, punished, or unduly burdened by the government - including public colleges and universities.
Let everyone speck freely. Stop banning . Free speech always.
F’ AIPAC
Yet Google does everything they possibly can to get you to download it...???
Ashley??! That sounds very familiar on TikTok..🤔🤔
Bold of them to assume anybody on TikTok can even form coherent speech.
And you think youtube shorts kids can even form words? Id bet you've never even been on tiktok.
Is TikTok still illegal in China?
Ah yes, how did anyone free speech before TikTok 🙄
Funny, we had more free speech in the US before Tik Tok.
Hate speech and free speech isn't the same.
Yet T.T allows people to criticise Israel and the U.S does not like it. That is why they want to ban it or run it so they can censor speech just as Facebook, RUclips and others do. The U.S government tells the site moderators to remove content
Why ban it?
🤔
Because stupid kids use it, dancing bad & calling everyone skibidi or rizz?
It’s weird someone said it was dangerous a few years ago but he got vilified for it & he was correct
It will certainly not have a staggering effect on free speech. It will IMPROVE social skills and push people to interact with society physically. After school recreational activities will increase, businesses will be more active with its community. Its a shift we NEED to break away from 🇨🇳👀 Tiktok isn't the end all.
free speech? don't you know how expensive bbc is?
What a joke. The problem isn't TikTok, it's Chinese owned TikTok. You couldn't pay me to use it. Don't let your kids on there.
Roughly sixty percent of the company is beneficially owned by global institutional investors such as Carlyle Group, General Atlantic, and Susquehanna International Group. An additional twenty percent of the company is owned by ByteDance employees around the world, including Australians. The remaining twenty percent is owned by the company's founder, who is a private individual and is not part of any state or government entity.
TikTok, which is not available in mainland China, has established Los Angeles and Singapore as headquarters locations to meet its business needs. That is in keeping with ByteDance's approach to aligning business needs to the markets where its services operate. ByteDance does not have a single global headquarters.
ByteDance's board of directors is comprised of five individuals, none of whom is a part of any government or state entity. 3 of the 5 are American. The board includes:
Rubo Liang, ByteDance Chairman and CEO (Singapore-based) • Arthur Dantchik, Susquehanna International Group (U.S.-based). Bill Ford, General Atlantic (U.S.-based). Philippe Laffont, Coatue Management (U.S.-based).
Neil Shen, Sequoia (Hong Kong-based).
Four out of five of the board's directors represent ByteDance's investors on the board, and Rubo Liang, ByteDance CEO, represents the company and its employees.
Tiktok stealing information has been debunked
Why ? People can say what they want on other platforms . If tik the US think tik took is harming them then it’s up to the US government.
Ridiculous, TikTok is controlled by China where there is no free speech at all😂
I’m far more concerned about our Government & MSM than i am about Tiktok..
Cons hackers an underage minors
It is not about free speech it is about making money from exploiting TikTok users.
so if needed we can drop the law. 🤣
