My thoughts on the new Nasomatto Fantomas Fragrance. No notes nothing to go by but I speak about what I experience with Fantomas by Nasomatto. It's an artistic fragrance mostly to me but very synthetic and earthy, rooty, Deep earth just before it rains is my experience. It'a woody, ozonic, metallic experience. It’s very interesting how this fragrance smells so different to almost everybody. I actually enjoy it a lot but I don’t see much similarities to the original bat (which is one of my favorites fragrances of all time). With Fantomas I get a “foggy” vanilla with clean woods (probably iso e super), a bit milky and fruity. Great review as always.
could resist. blind buy for me. this house is magic for me. Ive loved every other blind buy especially BLACK AFGANO & DURO. Im attracted to strange/unique scents - earth/metal/rubber. thanks to my mother who loves louis de funes, i grew up watching his movies including the fantomas ones. fantomas was always such a mysterious, classy, intriguing yet scary character, from all the movie villains he always stood out to me.
because of that i was quite excited about this fragrance, and i thought that i have to smell this one. after your review, i doubt that it's going to be a fragrance i would wear, but i still want to try it.

I honestly loved it...it smelled unsettling to me and kind of like milk, skin, and a little metallic. Was wearing yesterday and I felt like it lasted for so long and just kept getting better!

I just got it today; a friend sent me a bottle from Russia 🇷🇺 without love.
So the note break down from the store they bought it from states it’s classification is that of Floral/Aromatic
HEAD NOTES:
• Bergamot
• Lemon
• Thyme
HEART NOTES:
• Lily of the Valley
• Neroli
BASE NOTES:
• Guaiac
• Leather
• Musk
• Sandalwood
• Woody Notes
The opening for me is very discordant and yes smells synthetic; with the gun metal mentioned. In addition the notes seem to be working against each other and takes some time for them to eventually synchronize.
The woody notes chokes me out for a while; but after an hour is when the components level off and a very sensual sexy scent is apparent.
It is definitely complex fragrance; I like it but don’t love it; I kind of expected more from Nasamattos’ Extrait de Parfum and was left sadly dissatisfied.
It has a mysterious trait where the scent G.H.O.S.T.S’ you out like an evasive girlfriend, then sudden whiffs appear then disappear through phases of plasticky, ozonic, fruity, woody notes.
There’s no sillage nor projection; ethereally close to the skin.
Fragrance Comparisons:
It smells similar to Nasamatto Pardon after 4 hours (dry down territory).
The sexy scent I get whiffs of reminds me of Costume Nationals’ Scent Intense !

Totally agree with you when it comes to Zoologist perfumes, I might like the smell but either very hard or impossible to wear.😓
To me it smelled exactly like pear vanilla ice cream that comes in those boxes in every store (in europe) only tested it on a tester strip though. Very friendly safe smelling compared to some other nasomattos. but that pear ice cream smell got me the most, almost noatalgic. Pardon and Baraonda are still my picks
PLEASE do a video on your top picks for interview fragrances (with Dana if possible 😀). I'm currently applying for internships and going through interviews and that would be so helpful 😍

Have you tried Orto Parisi Megamare?
Interesting how different your experience is than mine. I get a juicy fruity sweetness. Had I’d not saw the ad video I don’t know if I’d pick up on any “smoke” per say, but I suppose it would be closest to that of a fog machine. Having played in bands for the past 20 years I’ve become quite familiar with that scent and I can definitely make that connection. As if I’m wearing a fruity fragrance or have a plate of cut melon in front of me, definitely drinking coffee, at a night club before the show starts and can smell the curtains and fog machine or something like that lol. I actually have a specific club in mind where I can visualize this. All in all, so far I enjoy this fragrance and think it has a nice balance of what we perceive to be natural and synthetic. As synthetic as recalling and recreating a natural memory. Thinking of a haunted house, hiking the Adirondack’s, walking into a leather shop, a jazz club or sitting by a fireplace. It’s as real as we make it to be, and in this case I couldn’t imagine anything more natural unless it was imagined to be different 😉

Edit: You took the words out of my mouth when you said that 'it's one of those fragrances that's fun to smell but not to wear'. I understand completely.

I have the original bat Sebastian... I can see what you’re saying but the similarity is at best 40-50%
My juice is green. I’m concerned.
It smells real but I haven’t seen this colour juice and wasn’t expecting a green juice. Bought from a proper retailer in Sydney australia. Might have to contact nasamatto with some photos
This one for me was basically an unisex Duro, so easier to wear but also less interesting. One can definitely feel the Nasomatto DNA here with the synthetics. I think it's good but redundant since I prefer the harshness of Duro

Hi seb got a sample and it also reminds me of a fragrance I blind bought and well,for me an error in judgement it was Don by xerjoff from the J.D.C. Collection a metallic carbide linear scent minus any fruity or damp earth aroma.it like being stuck in the middle of the gunfight at the ok corral for hours yeah both frags forgettable really
I've sampled it and i have the same opinion with you. I get this gunpowder, synthetic, metallic with a fruity note which smells like a watermelon to me. The performance is weak! I had high hopes for this one but i didn't like it at all 😕 Great review and visuals 🙂
Sebastian. Rogue Perfumery is about to launch a new scent....Bon Monsieur. I have already obtained a sample and I think you need to get your nose on this one ASAP and do a video. Just like fantoms was not my favorite movie with Louis de Funès, the homonyme fragrance doesn't really appeal to me. But who knows, until I'll try I'm totally bias.

I noticed you're not a fan of earthy scents, is that so? I remember you didn't like Peau D'ailleurs by Starck, which I find fantastic, especially for $30 bucks.

I love Peau D'ailleurs by Starck in fact I featured it in a video that's airing tomorrow. Earthy Fragrances so stay tuned. I know I had to do the video as Fantomas triggered it. But it did have a strange smell but I grew to like the Peau D'ailleurs by Starck. And no I don't think Fantomas smells like Amongst Waves but I'll have to test closely! :)
I just tested Amongst Waves and it's candy fruit to me not earthy at all! So no Amongst Waves smelling like Fantomas! :)

I liked your review in terms of your clear description of the scent, but there is so much more that you might have done with telling us about the ethos of the name. The Fantomas serials are one of the glories of the French silent film. See ruclips.net/video/a8fG1rUdAbM/видео.html for a trailer for the DVD. If you add that association to the imagery the fragrance evoked for you, you get something even richer. I realize we're going beyond just what it smells like, but aren't cultural associations a large part of the appeal of perfume? Still, you always do a great job analyzing the perceived notes in a scent. I'm a big fan,

Nasomatto has really really cheap quality bottles unlike Orto Parisi bottles, however Nasomatto fragrances smells 100 times better than the Orto Parisi fragrances.
