@@user-nj3sz2ki2f These guys are clearly part of some tactical police unit/SWAT, so they definitely didn't "just apply for the job". While they're not as good in combat as real SF, they are the top tier units that the police can get their hands on. In other words they're the SF of the police

@@DOPE_SMOKE Each city/office got their own name for it (ERT, TRU, ETU, ESU, SSERT, etc.). But for instance, CPD's SSERT is called "SSERT SWAT" so it's still a SWAT unit.
Basically we can say that this is a SWAT team.

I work as a police in London. I don’t wear that much gear. Usually I wear a helmet with the visor up and then a full bodysuit. And I only use the SIG when it’s a serious call. Other than that I normally just keep a glock17👍

European and Western wealthier countries tend to equip their troops a ton more than other nations. You'll see a lot of highly trained police like this but also the military Special operators will be like this depending on the mission/environment.

People stating that they 'look badass' implies a concerning perspective. The militarization of the police force contradicts the intended function of their institution. Unlike the military, which specializes in combat, police departments are designed to serve the public, an environment not inherently viewed as a combat zone. All that equipment there using is for combat zone longevity. Absolutely not for public servants like police officers.
