Absolutely delighted that you’re reading The Tainted Cup! I loved the unique worldbuilding and mix of genres so much. I also ended up reading it more slowly just to savor it and take everything in
I always enjoy a good, cozy reading vlog no matter what day you post. I am finally enjoying the story with Stoker and Veronica with the third book it is giving me The Mummy vibes. Happy reading!
I enjoyed The Tainted Cup a whole lot. I'm glad you're reading it too because I haven't seen many people talk about it, and I think it's really good. I liked the ancient Rome inspired fantasy world, and the looming threat of the leviathans is a really cool concept. I'm really interested to see where the series goes from here on (and glad book II is coming out so soon).
ahh I got so excited when I saw this thumbnail because The Tainted Cup was my favourite read of 2024!! I'm so glad you're enjoying it so far - the world building is kinda crazy but I definitely got so hooked in the second half so I hope you do too! 💛🍄🌿 so so excited for A Drop of Corruption
i just got a hobonichi weeks because of you and i’ve been loving it!! A6 is a good size if you feel limited by the size of the weeks but don’t want something as big as the cousin so it’s a good in between. the only con for the A6/cousin for me is that the pages are dated, so it feels like you need to fill it in everyday or you’re just gonna have blank pages. since it is daily it’s more obvious if you skip days, if that makes sense. they might have an undated A6 but i’m not sure. i like the weeks bc it’s not hard to fill it up. A6 could be worth a shot though if you want something bigger! also would love to see a flip through of your hobonichi 👀
Also, that sweater in the beginning is so pretty. That blue color looks gorgeous on you!! I’m currently reading The Bear and the Nightingale which I’m really enjoying and listening to Clockwork Angel on audio! 📘🎧🐻⚙️
I totally agree about Within the Sanctuary of Wings - it just finishes the series off so well. I have also read the sixth book about the grand daughter and enjoyed that for itself. Glad I read it. My reading - I finished Words of Radiance yesterday (part 5 and the epilogue! ) and am looking at Oath bringer sitting on my shelf, I might need a short break before diving in to the next bit…
i’m happy you finished the Lady Trent series! i also thought it had a really strong ending :) And selfishly i say stick with the hobinichi weeks haha (bc i have one and want more spread inspo 😅) (but also do whichever you want)
All of a sudden I hear multiple booktubers talk about Brambly Hedge. Do I add its absence from my childhood to the list of reasons my childhood clinically dead? Rain does dilute memory. In a good way. Just speaking from experience. 23:43 Just realized the way you styled your bangs is REALLY nice. Rock on. Within the Sanctuary of Wings sounded a lot better as your descriptions progressed ... or maybe my attention span just took a while to get there. The Tainted Cup = Sherlock Ghibli?
Katie, your vlogs are such a joy! 🥰 So cosy and inspiring. I really want to start The Memoirs of Lady Trent this year - it sounds like something I would highly enjoy. 🫶
I would definitely reread the Lady Trent series ❤ I read the Tainted Cup last year but honestly cannot remember much about it except I know there’s something important about the leviathans that will no doubt become significant as the series continues-I suspect maybe they are not the “enemy” everyone thinks they are. Not sure if I’ll continue the series. Turning Darkness into Light was interesting but I wasn’t as captivated by the granddaughter as I was by Lady Trent-who does make an “appearance” by letter writing only in this book.
Hobonichi A6 has no weekly pages in it, only daily pages (a day per page) so if you want weeklies like Hobonichi Weeks has, then A6 might not be for you... So it depends what type of pages you prefer... 😊
For me, I did medical billing and coding. But I feel like it’s hard to get into the medical field based on years of experience or other reasons. I do sometimes see myself starting a small business (eg making stickers or baking sweets). Not sure what I plan for my future career (preferably I want to be able to work with small children or deal with books).
Katie, if you enjoyed Murderbot, you might like The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. It’s a quirky and entertaining read that features one of the first robots with a personality-who also happens to be depressed but in a funny sarcastic way. Given your STEM/engineering background, I think you’d appreciate the humor and concepts in this book. It’s not exactly groundbreaking, but it’s definitely a fun unique read!
"Rogue Protocol" is technically the weakest one in terms of humor and action, but it's also necessary for the next book. You'll find out when you read it XD But I LOVE this one because of the emotional growth it gives Murderbot. It forces them to finally confront their own feelings and wants. The end, especially, puts everything into perspective for Murderbot about its own emotions. It also continues to show why people like Dr. Mensah are arguing over the rights of constructs like Murderbot, because of Miki's choice at the end ...I also never got tired of its refrain of "For f***s sake" throughout this one.
i thoroughly enjoyed this vlog! ❤ also please also put BLACK WOODS BLUE SKY by Eowyn Ivey on your radar this year, I believe it’s going to be released on 4th of Feb. I feel like it’s right up your alley!
The Natural History of Dragons is on my wishlist for next month...also A Curious Beginning by Deanna Raybourn was just **chef's kiss**❤️... excited to pick the next two books in that series as well❤❤❤...Also I wanted to recommend you this manga that I've been reading called Usotoki Rhetoric...I believe you're very much a historical mystery person and the characters in this book and their dynamic was so fun that it makes wonder why nobody ever talks about it...But that's where you come in girl because you can make anything popular☺️❤️
It’s wild how much work you put into these vlogs, very aesthetic
A warm/fun katie video while we have a small snow storm im so here for it ❤❤❤
I did biomedical engineering and I'm in the medical device industry, it's super interesting! I hope you like the class!
I loved the Tainted Cup! I can't wait for the next book to come out.

I love your videos, and you are looking so beautiful!
I would do unspeakable things to see you give remnant chronicles/thieves duology another chance…
