- Set over a thousand years ago in the early 11th century, VIKINGS: VALHALLA chronicles the heroic adventures of some of the most famous Vikings who ever lived - the legendary explorer Leif Eriksson (Sam Corlett), his fiery and headstrong sister Freydis Eriksdotter (Frida Gustavsson), and the ambitious Nordic prince Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter). As tensions between the Vikings and the English royals reach a bloody breaking point and as the Vikings themselves clash over their conflicting Christian and pagan beliefs, these three Vikings begin an epic journey that will take them across oceans and through battlefields, from Kattegat to England and beyond, as they fight for survival and glory.
Vikings: Valhalla launches February 25th, only on Netflix.

It’s never ending! The “shield maidens” a total fabrication based on one source from the 1100’s, no compelling evidence of female Viking warriors, it has all become such a bore
They’re stirring the pot
So are you recommending that I do not start this series based on the fact that the producers have gone totally wild with the storyline. I loved and just finished the first series and didn’t like a couple of the narratives here and there, but if they are going for wokeness in the Viking era, I’m out!
@@-SodaMarker- - every Viking series is woke to a degree- the notion of shield maidens being these elite warriors that killed men by the scores is an absolute lie. The term shield maiden is only found once in history and it was written by a monk in England in the 11rh century.

A) Vikings had sex with slaves constantly B) These slaves were of all races including Africans when the Vikings traded slaves with the Arabians and C) Vikings were respected based on prowess as opposed to skin colour. I mean irl there was a black samurai who was originally a slave. If a black person could be accepted into a formal order of warriors, a black person could raid and pillage with vikings.
@@spinelspinel9361 the thing is, she's playing the role of Jarl Haakon, historically he was a white male. They did not create a new invented role for her, they chose to just ignore actual facts and do it for the sake of diversity
@@tiagocarneiro2001 Yeah that was the wrong aspect I believe. I thought they were referring to the fact it's a black Viking. I was wrong however and admit that.
Dude, no actor has had such a profound effect on a genre than Travis . Ragnar will forever be THE viking. It's absolutely amazing how he wasn't even intended on being the main character of the show, yet they made 5 more seasons just because of him. I was literally captivated by his every moment on screen and when he wasn't in the story, I lost complete interest. Never have I seen that in a show or film. Agreed, for me only Ivar made me continue watching after his death
Ever heard of Tony Soprano? You should of said no homo after that
I will admit: I stuck around to watch Lagertha (Kathryn Winnick) & Bishop Heahmund (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) They both acted GREAT! Kathryn Winnick is so HOT! My wife of course is in love with Jonathan Rhys Meyers. The problem was Michael Hirst put WAY too much focus on Ivar (to the point of obsession) he also kept Lagerth around WAAAY, way to long! She should have died in Battle with Bishop Heamund! Personally, I didn’t like the storyline of Bishop Heamund getting captured then the Vikings just let him run around with a sword that think was made by Elf’s! 2, So a Christian Saxon Bishop was allowed to join the Lagertha faction?! I’m sure, being that early in Viking History, they would have killed him and or made him a slave! 3, There’s NO WAY a Christian Bishop Warrior like Bishop Heamund would have been taken alive! 4, They made King Alfred the Great look like a complete and utter moron!???! (Which is the complete opposite about King Alfred)
@@kenduffy5397 yeah I agree Heamund was a beast and definitely enjoyed watching his character. Yeah I thought the same . He figured they would've ransomed Heamund. I like Ivar, but he's a bit played out. Lagertha WAS awesome till she went all power hungry and I feel like they lost touch w her character. Bjorn was the only son besides Ivar I liked. The others were bland af. Floki is the only one I ended up finishing the story for. I didn't care about anyone else after Ragnar was gone.

Casting of Haakon the Jarl is completely absurd. Truly an embarrassment.
Vikings was never even close to being historically accurate. Why do you completely not care that Vikings is 98% fantasy and it only bothers you when a black person is there 🙄 That's ridiculous.
Vikings tells about 400 years of history in 2 generations. The only way that works is if it doesn't fit together. For example, Björn was the son of Aslaug, but is somehow the son of Lagertha here because they apparently just wanted to skip Ragnar's second wife Thora. Rollo was actually born 50 years after Ragnar and probably wasn't even a Viking, yet in Vikings he's suddenly Ragnar's brother? They preferred to create a fictional place where the series is set, rather than using a place that actually existed at the time. And then, strangely enough, they named it after the sea Kattegat.
Vikings didn't wear great braids like in the series, they are almost all pure fantasy, there were hardly any tattoos and they also wore normal chain mail and helmets in battle and not these strange leather armours that everyone wears. Apart from that, a lot of the clothing in the series definitely didn't exist like that.
And you can clearly see that the series was not filmed in Scandinavia, because it's mostly flat land. Uppsala is as flat as a sheet of glass and yet there were hills everywhere in the series.
Nobody cares about historical accuracy unless there are black people involved...
@@ducklingscap897 No I am well aware of the historical inaccuracies actually. The show is made here in my country Ireland. I even know people who were extras on the set. I live in a Viking founded city (Waterford) with a museum 15 mins from my house full of Viking artifacts.
So how exactly would you know what does or doesn't bother me about the series? Nothing you have written in that wall of text trying to look clever has disproved my point that the casting is completely absurd. So take your woke crusade elsewhere lol.

Black woman to portray a Viking chieftain in Netflix series Vikings: Valhalla -- "We often report about the leftist attempts to rewrite, change or erase European history, which is becoming a trend both in educational institutions as well as in the entertainment industry. A new case of such trends is the upcoming Netflix show Vikings: Valhalla, which will be in a way a sequel of the popular series Vikings.
The series takes place about a century after the happenings of The Vikings last season and follows the adventures of historical persons such as Leif Erikson, a Viking who “discovered” America, Norman king William the Conqueror, and among others a Viking chieftain Jarl Haakon. But in all their progressive wisdom the creators of the show decided that the great chieftain of the Northmen will be played by a black woman."

Harald Hadrada (one of the mane characters) was exiled from Norway and joined the varangian guard. This was a military regiment in Byzantium consisting of solely Norse members. Harald travelled to italy, greece and spain during his career iirc
Beginning of Normandy as well in France…
I mean this show is about Leif Erikson, who led the first viking journey to North America. So there's that.
I have an alternate ending for Bjorn in my head, whee he goes all the way to Constantinople and joins the Varangian Guard, then defeats Oleg and Ivar in a siege of the city. Much more epic and realistic than an attack on Scandinavia, we get to see more of the extent of the Viking journeys, and also the magnificence of the richest city in the West at the time. Ivar then goes to England where he dies as shown.
Don't get me wrong, I thought Season 6 was a worthy ending to the series. The arrival in Newfoundland and the ending on the beach were ace.
*I'm looking forward to meet in the great Halls of Valhalla!*
I’m so happy to come here and read that 99% of the comments are what I’ve been saying to my friends and family almost verbatim.
Travis Fimmel is up there with Leo,Denzel ,Johnny depp etc. He should be in more big movies.. He would be perfect in marvel as the next Wolverine!
"What do you intent to do?"
"...Fight."
If that was indeed Aemma of Normandy, she gave me intense Gisla feelings... AND I'M ALL FOR IT! GO NORMANS!
Thought it was Gisla at first
@@Tolandruth i wish but no: it probably was her descendant (in the series continuity) Aemma of Normandy, queen of England by her marriage to Aethelred and future wife of Knut the Great.
There haven’t been a show that can topple original Vikings for me
The Last Kingdom?
Game of thrones (ignoring s8), breaking bad, better call Saul, the wire?
Others I can’t think of atm
The Last Kingdom is pretty good for me. I loved it it's more hearty for me than Vikings. But I loved Vikings too. Travis Fimmel is so DILF
The Last Kingdom is a good watch
@@thehardyfan9908 season 8 was the correct ending.
Such an UnderRated show. Better than Vikings. Netflix should promote this more.
Leif Erickson didn't come to England to fight. He wasn't a warrior. He was an explorer
There were no black people in Scandinavia.
I'm presuming the actress herself is Danish. But yeah, I don't know why they casted a dark skinned woman in the place of a Danish King. All these actors and your telling me they couldn't find a Danish man. I'm willing to grit my teeth and overlook that, though.
slaves fool
@@davechristian7543 Most slaves that Scandinavians had were most likely from Russia or Europe... maybe Sardinians from the Mediterranean. If you mean Native Americans, pretty sure no one was taken from the Americas until way after Columbus.
Give this series a chance before comparing it to the original Vikings show...
I agree man, Ragnar saga was epic, but it´s over, it´s time to give this show a chance and get excited for the new characters!!!
Indeed
@@juanfernandorojas3194 So true
I am English snd it deeply saddens me deeply that my suffering my peoples suffering is mere entertainment for you. First the Romans then the vikings or they just passed our azz between them until Great Britain was born. But we suffered first then we stopped the suffering in a land near you too.
Funny how they left her out of the trailer. They knew it would tank the show before it's even released XDDD
F'n hypocrites
Where's Uhtred of Bebbanburg?
100 years after the end of the original series, a new Vikings story begins.
Leif Erickson, the first Viking who sailed to North America, and the first European who 500 years before Columbus, arrived in America, although that trip does occur, he may meet the children or descendants of UBBE, who in the original series arrived to that territory. Or so we were led to believe. 🤔
Yesss!!!
True, according to history, He was one of the most famous Vikings
Hope to find this show as much satisfying as the previous one
Leif Ericsson was not a Viking
He is a Christian missionary send by Christian king of Norway Olaf.
The term viking is simple used around for whatever people like
@@Vladklx this could remain the same in this new show. Knowing how big of a roll Christianity played in not just actual history but also the original Vikings show, I would not be surprised.
Also it takes place in Norway so it could be that during this show the Christians do take over, and Leif becomes a missionary. This is all likely to happen in this show. Maybe not but it’s possible
So they have a black lady, playing a Viking chief. Okay, I'm looking forward to see Christian Bale play Shaka Zulu.
The incredible Vikings franchise reimagined as a woke soap opera. Reeks of Game of Thrones envy. Possesses not a drop of the originals visceral authenticity. Total disappointment.
Vikings who's your king?
Me: Ragnar Lothbrok 🤴
Yeah um…. there literrally weren’t any black viking jarls. But hey now that we’re on it; lets replace the horses with dolphins :)
Oh cool didn't know you were there The Norse were a diverse group of people. You never know if someone ended up as a jarl that wasn't white. No one can say for certain but don't be that ignorant
@@TheMsSilvershade I think there are some pretty convincing evidence that the ruler of Norway jarl Haakon (which she is gonna portray) was a white man, yep that's right.. A White MAN!
Pls, stop be that ignorant!
@@TheMsSilvershade the nordic society were not that diverse, some non-European merchants and slaves from their raids dwelled in Scandinavia back then. With that considered the odds of a non-European (probably even a non-nordic) jarl were slim to none
Here's my take stop crying about historical facts sometimes you don't get what you want you just gotta deal with it and hope for the best
Boohoo cry me a river 😂 viking POC existed whether you like it or not. Who cares if Jarl Haakon was thought to be a white man. It is all LEGEND.
Anyone after devara😅
Yes bro 😂
HBO should've never sold vikings to Netflix. This new series is a discraceful insult to the first vikings.
Viking is: “the man who go for seas”
Being Viking is being brave enough of having a home, having a girl you love at home and still being hungry of knowing what you can become living the house behind and moving to your destiny
There are a number of interpretations of what the term "Viking" means. By your definition, every sailor is a Viking.
@@BigMrFirebird no, this is not what my definition actually means
I wish someone would make a more historically accurate Viking production. Where the Vikings are clean, wear colorful clothing, have accurate hairstyles, at least have the actor trained well enough to keep up their shields in combat, etc, etc and more.
Harlan hadrada has an amazing story as well and it looks like they’re not even touching it. Plus Caroline Henderson 😆
What happened to a propper shield wall in these battles?
I'm interested in the show enough to watch trailers but each time i just cannot get over how shit it looks from a historical accuracy standpoint. Guess its better to just stick to histort books
@@louisromero2320 you mean jarl haakon wasn't a black women?
@@ljnv PC Bollox as usual.
"we wuz Vikingz n shieeeet"
If you didn't like this show because of the woke agenda they're trying to push, you should definitely watch the last kingdom. It's like a mixture of GoT and Vikings and it's more historically accurate.
Gosh I love uthred ragnarson. Can’t recommend the last kingdom enough
Last kingdom was awesome. It kind of stagnated in the middle with the love story, but it got back on track in the last season. I'd love to see a spin-off with the new generation.
I want this series to be greater than viking.. And want to hear great music than viking
It won't, because they are replacing legendary viking warriors with black women.
@@bryankowalczyk3982 exactly. So disgusting. We europeans should not take this crap anymore.
It will never be. Why would you even want so?
It’s not going to be. That’s factual.
Ah yes my brown ancestors where Vikings once. Great to know.
"I'm Leif, Leif Erikson."
Already, goosebumps. The possibilities and potential they have to tell a story about Erik the Red, Leif Erikson, and Freydis Eriksdottir is a tale equal to that of Ragnar and his sons.
Let our Journey to Vinland begin.
Erik the Red is Leif Erikson's and Freydis Eriksdottir's father in this series. Idk about IRL I'm not familiar enough with the history to know.
Harald Sigurdson is the 3rd lead. Those 3 are the main characters.
Also featuring prominently
Queen Emma of Normandy
King Edmund
Godwin
King Canute
Olaf Haraldson
Jarl Haakon
Jarl Kore
Sweyn Forkbeard
Jomsvikings
I think that covers most of the named characters of any significance
Im of Norwegian decent and you have race and gender swapped a hero in Haakon. Its a disgrace.
"In time, the name of Ragnar Lothbrok will fade and be forgotten." - Ivar the Boneless.
I'm a fan of Ragnar, but guys cmon, stop whining about the old days. New blood isn't always bad.
Exactly, Lets enjoy some new Vikings content!
Perfect brainwashing... Woman heroes and black Queen. Congrats.....
I'm black and this makes me sick, they can throw us in anything just to be woke and pat themselves on the back but won't ever make a series on African Kingdoms like Kush, Mali and Ghana. These clowns in Hollywood are so fake 😒
at that period of time, there was no such thing as woman heros and black queens.
@@1.4billion65 not sure I agree with that, there may have been black women heroes and queens, but the Vikings sure as hell didn’t have them
FINALLY - a series in which they can NOT possibly race and gender flip.....oops, my bad!!!
It doesnt make sense to cast a black women in a white historical figures role but it litterally doesnt change the show. Most viewers know that jarl hokkan wasnt acctually a black women in real life.
I haven't seen a single episode, but it doesn't look like a very reliable series. Vikings from AliExpress 😆😆
Why don't they make historically accurate shows? It looks like how modern world perceives vikings.
