I just returned from riding to the tail of the dragon from just north of Boston round trip was 2200 miles round trip not counting the 300 miles we road while in the Smokey mountains some of the best riding around. We had five riders four on baggers one guy had a 94 soft tail and trailered his scoot. Tossed all our gear into the trailer made life easy. Have done a few multi state trips on my SG I pack as light as possible but always try to keep it simple. Ride safe brother good point on packing light you’re on point
I've been traveling all over Europe for over 20 years both on hyper supersport bikes, Harleys, BMW K 1200RS touring and 2018 Honda Goldwing as well as in my Ford Mustang, my old Aston Martin and my old Jaguar. I also worked as a long distance truck driver and drove all over Europe for over 20 years and i agree with you. Pack light and bring extra socks, underwear and also extra gloves and a per of waterproof gloves.
If you're not just ripping it around other vehicles the entire trip, the cruise control helps to give the wrist a break. That and a good helmet...ear plugs if you're still set on a half helmet.
We carry a small 1st aid kit and tyre puncher repair kit and a small basic tool kit - should include Philips/flat head screwdrivers and a set of torx wrench (and Alen wrenches if you fitted non-HD accessories). I also carry a small microfiber cloth in a plastic zip-lock bag which I use with water to clean the bugs off the windscreen and faring at fuel stops.
I put my clothes in zip lock bags and then into a bag I strap on my back seat. Keeps everything organized at each stop and you can push the air out and it packs up really nicely.
Or you could switch to a Camelback water device. It's even easier to use, and it actually holds more fluid. Trust me, if you try it, you'll toss the cup holder!!!
I recently switched to a Camelback drink bladder from using a handlebar cup holder. They hold more fluid, hold more ice, and are easier to use. Try it, and you'll like it!!! I also refrain from drinking coffee on long travel days. I drink a 5 Hour Energy drink instead. They equa the caffeine of 2 cups of coffee , in a 2 ounce drink!
I've been doing 2-3 multi-state trips on my 883 for the past few years. Can't wait until my jeep is paid off so I can add a LRST to my garage 😂 test rode one and didn't want to take my 883 back home
I still have my 2021 883… I still ride it because I get tired of riding the bigger bike. I actually stop at red lights laughing because it’s so freaking fun to ride. Too many people get burned out riding the same bike and not getting the same thrill. The 883 is not nimble and not as powerful and that’s what makes it fun to ride. I can’t get rid of it
@@Grapes2wine-MJK oh I definitely would like to keep it and just add another bike. Honestly I've toyed with the idea to hardtail it after I get a softail
Would you say the alcantara is gonna hold up ok? I’m def doing Lepara and really want that fabric but they don’t recommend that fabric for getting wet. So buttery though! I hardly ride in the rain. Would only be if I do a trip once or twice a year. You say go for it?
Waiting for my yearly trip to Tail of the Dragon 🐉. I really recommend this ride some of the best riding roads ever. Try end of September the weather is perfect and also not as crowded.
Got to make sure you go over your bike before the trip at least like 2 weeks in advance so if there's any issues you can solve them before the time comes to leave or you know you don't get stuck on the road
I have the same bike as you do in tobacco fade. Been thinking about a sissy bar, really just for luggage. I prefer a low profile one that can get the job done for luggage. Have you found any that you liked?
@@Marvelkid87 Since you like customization, you might want to check out Top Hand Ventures out of Texas. Apparently, they will build what you design. Ultimately, this may be the way I will need to go if I can’t find a good “off the shelve” option.
How did you go about planning what hotel you were going to stay at on the way? Seems hard since you can’t really tell if you will make a particular destination if you plan it out beforehand.
Good question We just picked one on Google on the road at one of our fuel stops once we decided what city/town we were going to kick it at for the night
Just got back from Sturgis yesterday. 1400+ miles on the Low rider S. Definitely feeling it in the hips today
Nice man 💪🏽 do some stretching 🙆♂️ that helped me.
I can relate. Stop and go traffic gets me especially with all the shifting

Love the video and the new bike bro!!
An underrated long distance accessory is a cup holder. You’ll always have one once you get one.
Facts 😂😂😂 had one on my glide for a while

Great Video! Just picked up a Road Glide, and looking for a phone mount, you mentioned the one you have is great. What is it the quad lock?

Went to Sturgis for 2 days lol
Fri 1k mi to get there
2 days of awesome riding
Monday 1k miles home
Usually miles 600-850 the worst lol
I keep rain gear on the right. In the event you need to pull over, I don't want my back to the interstate.
That’s crazy that your from Hackensack I’m riding from paterson on my 883 around. crazy to think I might have saw you around
I rode from Ga to Milwaukee. My longest ride so far. Bout 875 miles each way. Took a lot out of me. I have to build up my stamina over time ✌️

I deff want to do this ride and also do it off peak so I can really enjoy it.

@@Marvelkid87 thank you appreciate that you took the time to respond. very helpful for me. shiny side up brother!
Great tips!
I would add earplugs to the list. The wind noise can get annoying after some time
Very true! 💪🏽
No doubt .. my ears ringing for 2 days after doing one of those 500-1000 mi rides
On a average week how many hours do you think you spend in the saddle?
How tall are you? Is the ST ok for short riders? Im 5'6 been looking at the ST or Road King.
U LIKE THE LOWRIDER BETTER THEN THE ROADGLIDE ?
for your long trip what apps did you use that were most helpful? thank you
So... how did the Harley boots do in the rain?
They did great and kept my feet dry 💪🏽 I’ll be doing a follow up video on that this week
Good Stuff.
I couldn’t here you when you said what cam it was running. ?
Cyclerama 483

Your bike deserves a 131 or 135 😁
